    It is a year later when I visit this video. Loved seeing the cows on the deep straw pack. Much harder for the farmer from the mastitis view point. But the cows gotta love it. B

    I had to check and most of rural Manitoba didn’t get power until the late 40’s or early 50’s. When this barn was built they would have had no refrigeration so milking was most likely done by hand and separated on site to be sold locally. I can remember my Uncle doing just that. No lights in the barn, no plumbing in the house, wood heat, crank phone on a party line.. Simpler times. Tougher people.

    Have you ever thought about chopping your straw in field instead of baling for shed packs. My neighbor used to chop it and just blow on a pile outdoors. He really liked the way it worked in pack and helped keep cows clean.

    Big square bales are easier to use indoors than round bales.

      Milking 80 at the moment, milking in a tie stall for now, moving to a robot barn soon

      I milk 200 jerseys in a 50 stall rotary in CT USA do you have any jerseys or all holstiens

      @@bobmorse3513 have very few cross bred with jersey, mostly all pure breed Holsteins, we sell breading bulls on side as well
