The last story about the father going about his routine, reminded me of that case where that kid, that they thought killed his girlfriend, was actually shot in the head and the detective didn't realize it till he looked closer. It's so fascinating how the mind continues to work after such trauma.
I swear it must be because her head wasnt right since the attack. Or I hate 2say, shes one of those weirdo moms that believe their kids never do anything wrong, constantly make dumb excuses for them and are in complete denial. It's just unfathomable looking at her disfugured face how she can pretend like this.
She had no recollection of the events after her coma. You can tell someone something happened to them as much as you’d like, but if they don’t remember it happening to them, they won’t believe you, especially since they would know. It threw me off for a second, too, but she didn’t have a reason, as far as she saw, to believe he had done it.
@@Cjbarker2 Right I get that, but did the Police have any other suspects? Doesnt she see they havent found a killer ? They were such nice ppl who would wanna do that 2them?
Poor parents 😔 although I think the broken brain of the dad thinking it was a normal day was better than remembering I guess. The mums face, just heartbreaking.
Ah yes, I heard the one about Christopher Porco before. Still haunts me how his father went on auto-pilot the entire morning and couldn't tell the blood trail he was leaving behind was from his own head wound. He was already dead, but still 'living' at the same time... Yeah, disturbing as hell.
I laughed when you doubled back on your statement "Chris is so emotional, he can barely speak because of what just happened". I was like "are we listening to two different phone calls?!"
The dad doing his routine is heartbreaking. The mom standing by her son's side, shows just how much a mothers love will blind you from thinking your child could do such a horrendous act.
I think it would be more like forgiveness other than denial. Believing he wasn't himself when he comitted the act. It's the easiest way to render the trauma
@@dxshawn532 yeah but that wouldn't change the mind of the mother. Most people view their children through a special lense, especially if they've never done something like that before. the real issue was she enabled all of his lies and thefts…she was directly responsible for her son stealing and defrauding more and more until he went too far and was facing prison for his fraud. she supported and helped him throughout that!

@@dammaguy1286I can't even imagine how the hell that was possible considering that when you look into the details of the case, the ax literally "took off his jaw"...shave what???
This is an example of just how blindly you can function "on automatic pilot"... We often wonder how people can blunder so lucidly into such REMARKABLY STUPID sh*t from time to time, and this is how that can happen, too... It's a matter of the brain building those "muscle memories" or rather what the neuroscientists call "procedural memory"... In fact, a person can suffer total amnesia to the point that he or she can't even tell you their name, but put a new pen in their hand and tell them to sign something, and it's a matter of legibility as to whether or not you'll get a name out of it... as often as not in such cases, THEY CAN SIGN... We (humans) DO have the power of individual free will, but to exercise it takes energy. Our brains cost about 25% of our daily caloric intake, making them VERY expensive as organs go. SO... it's practically automatic that our nervous system as a whole tries to find more efficient ways of functioning on all fronts, including turning any regular routine into procedural memory. Add in some neuro-plasticity, and you can get some VERY intricate and elaborate processes done as automated functions with no more thought actively put to them than walking or breathing. SO when Peter was so far brain damaged as to be "dead on his feet" he was capable of all the procedural memory items... the routines he'd probably done daily for DECADES, and he simply went through all the motions... and without a single possible thought to the details, from the bleeding to the missing jaw, gaping wounds all over his head and shoulders... nothing... It's equal parts fascinating and horrific. ;o)

Two years ago, a schizophrenic son killed his parents with an axe two doors down from my house. His dad was an artist, and the son, after killing his parents, pulled all of his dad's paintings out of the house and piled them across the road. That huge pile of paintings was the first thing we saw before we knew about the murders. The son was convinced the government had planted a chip in his head, and he had to do whatever he was programmed or told to do. I am surprised that story was not more widespread; it's highly unusual for this small city.

As a mother, I can understand why acting to love I our child unconditionally even after they do something so horrific not only to someone you love, but to you too. I honestly don’t know how she let him stay in her home. But I also know that brain injuries are extremely complex and make you do wild things. My sister is still recovering from a TBI after a car accident earlier this year. She was in a medically induced coma for 2 weeks and spent about a month in a Neurological rehabilitation hospital. For a while after her crash, she 100% believed that someone had attacked her and stabbed her and even said a person she said knew did it and was upset with us because we weren’t trying to have him prosecuted. It was really wild. Her leg had been crushed in the accident and she needed 2 surgeries to put it back together… and in her mind, those were stab wounds caused by a broken beet bottle. It was so wild because her memeories of this were very vivid and specific and even caused us to wonder if she had been attacked at some point and was remembering a completely separate incident. Then one day she just stopped talking about it, now it seems like she’s accepted she was in a car accident because for a while she didn’t even believe that. It’s a sad thing seeing a loved one not be able to remember things from their life and be a completely different person. It makes me wonder if her brain made her think he wasn’t a threat to protect herself from the pain and trauma.
He actually sounded concerned that his mother was still alive on that recorded call. But that last bit about how his dad came to after the attack and went about his business as a zombie is the bizarre part, in a world where homicides are sadly, a daily thing.
Imagine if someone saw the father and called 911. That's crazy! Imagine getting dressed and thinking everything is okay. There must have been blood everywhere but the adrenaline keeps going until the body just shut off.

Yeah as soon as I heard there were sons, and the parents were found dead, I knew it was one of them. But thought maybe the son who was serving had come back home with ptsd and killed them.
Parents: "We're very disappointed in you but we still love you and we'll do everything to help you get back on your feet." Chris: "So you have chosen death."
So I live in Rochester New York and I remember hearing this whole thing go down and them finding the parents and all this crazy stuff and the son acting like he didn’t do anything and it was just totally messed up and then hearing about the dad doing this routine even though he’s a walking dead man. Insane. I literally got chills during the whole story. John it was nuts.
Several years ago the dept of transportation bought a house I rented for a road expansion. They sent agents to help residents on our street with relocation. These agents helped each of us find new living quarters paid for by DOT. My agent helped me negotiate a rental in an apartment , the DOT paid a year in advance, which was simply compensation for the inconvenience. It is notable that I am a book keeper, and this was on my rental application. The apt manager thought it was all very odd and finally asked if it was really the Witness Protect Program. When we told her no she remained skeptical. The agent and I found it amusing but thought nothing of it at the time. I moved in and things were fine. But everytime I went into the office after that the entire staff would become quiet and stare at me in awe. I finally accepted that they were never going to accept the "DOT story" and for the next year I enjoyed the reverence and awe of the staff, finding it quite entertaining. I've since moved, but run into people from that office from time to time. I still enjoy the notoriety.
When John was saying that Christopher sounded upset over his Mother condition, for a minute there I thought he was serious. I was like where the heck do you hear that, but he was kidding. Lol, you got me. I really thought you were serious.
There is something extremely unsettling about the stories like this third one where someone is functioning on a legally dead brain. It's equally intriguing and horrifying how someone can still survive for however long without realizing their own head wounds.
Or, the fact that the only functional part of your brain that's left is the section that's responsible for your daily routine. Just like certain parts of your car function despite mechanical failure. The human body is basically just a machine with moving parts.
In order for the brain to stop functioning immediately is for the brain stem must be severed before the first cervical spine. This cuts off the brain from oxygen. If a person receives blunt force trauma to the brain and doesn’t know it, they can go on living for quire some time like this man did. Eventually we will evolve to heal our own brain if we don’t murder our planet first.
I live around the third case and that shit was insane. My dad actually did work on their house a few years before it happened. I was like 15 or so when the incident happened. All over the news. That was the most played local news thing from my area that I can remember. I forgot Mr ballen made this video. There’s so much more to it I wish he would do a deeper dive into the story tho. Layout of the house and all like he does.
16 hits with an axe, and his brain still has the ability to get up on time and do everything he normally did during his morning routine without hesitation. The human body is capable of amazing things.
Reminds me of my friend that was found on his kitchen floor after suffering a heart attack. At he hospital, he was hooked up to all kinds of machines and was in a coma It so happened that the day I visited him I was startled when he ‘woke’ up, started ripping the tubes and wires that was hooked up to him and he looked at me and asked me if we are still going out for breakfast because we planned it the day before his heart attack. He proceeded to look around the room and had this quizzical expression for a few seconds then fell back down into his hospital bed. By this time nurses came barging in because of the alarms he set off by tearing away at the tubes and such. It was a pretty creepy moment. He died the next day.
I remember watching a show as a kid where guy got suddenly shot in the head and just when his family thought he was dead, he opened his eyes and talked with them for few minutes before actually dying. I've never seen something like that happening in any other movie. People always die immediately after gettimg shot in head.

not everyone reacts to trauma the same. My father died with cancer. I held his hand as he took his last breath. I didn't even shed a tear. I stayed calm upto the end of his funeral. I was the last one to leave, before I left I placed his medals and my own in his breast pockets. Then turn to leave the room. It felt like I hit a brick wall. First time I had cried in years. I am not very good with emotions. Imagine being born with a permanent depression, the type where you are empty and only during extreme situations can you feel anything.

Have you ever heard of "gang stalking" or "targeted individuals"? It's basically thousands of people who met online to share and reinforce their delusions with each other. One of the dark sides of social networking...
I know of a sad case of a lovely couple who believed there was a pedophile cult after them. At first wasn't sure what to think, but as time went on it became very evident it was a paranoid delusion. They sold everything and went overseas to "escape". Then came back with stories of meetings with prime ministers and a big conspiracy. They'd used up all their savings. Really quite startling how they both believed it. The husband had previously spent time in mental health facility. I still can't wrap my head around it. They called the police at one point on the "cult" and the police called a psychiatrist for them. Unfortunately they cut contact with anyone who showed any doubt on their story and have since disappeared again... No doubt on the run from the invisible pursuers. They were smart and kind so this mental delusion that cost them their peace, sanity and savings is really astonishing and sad.
Did you ever analyze the police? I ask because personality disorders, particularly those involving an unhealthy enjoyment of exerting power over others, are quite common in that profession. Tragically, such a diagnosis, even when made, tends not to disqualify the person from police work.
@christineshotton824 This is one big issue I agree with within ranks of authority. I believe that impartial entities should do routine full evaluations geared toward digging up any kinds of power-tripping of otherwise sadistic behavior, since it is prevelant to these kinds of occupations.
Omg, I’ve literally watched every episode of every season of Forensic Files and the Peter Porco episode (covering the last story of this video) was one that never left my mind! The horrific and brutal nature of the crime was enough to make it unforgettable but for me, that unnervingly gruesome detail about him going through his morning routine after being bludgeoned-pouring himself cereal and going as far as getting his newspaper and getting himself back into the house after being locked out-is what took this beyond the level of your typical true crime fare and made it the stuff of nightmares!
That mother takes loving your kid no matter what to a new level Not only was her husband murdered Not only was she disfigured The trial took what ever saving and more from what ever life she had left
I imagine from all the brain damage she suffered, she really no longer remembers the attack and cannot believe her son is capable of such a thing. It's tragic but understandable.
Side note: I'm honestly amazed to hear about these managers that legitimately care about the well-being of their employees. If more people had this mindset, the world would be a much better place.
I think Chris Porco's mother's very odd behavior with her murderous son during the trial has to have something to do with how he ended up an axe murderer. Either that or her head injury affected her judgement.

Yeah. It's probably one of those "I'd rather be dead than disown my son, ESPECIALLY now that my husband is gone and I'm more or less all alone (no matter WHAT he has done..)". Truth be told, I think I would forgive my son if he attacked me like this. Seriously it's not like they said "we're cutting you off completely" they said "we will support you and get you on the right track" so what motive did he have to killing them.
Last story about Chris is a local one for me; it was so horrible. Love the videos and your insane ability to captivate through story-telling, thank-you!!
The story of the Porco family actually brought tears to my eyes. I feel like it was in some way a blessing that the father was made unaware of the injury due to the trauma to his brain and did not suffer before his death. Even the mother was spared the memory of it. That is so tragic and sad. I cannot criticize Mrs. Porco because she truly has the special love that only a mother could have. The son, on the other hand, taking up the offer to stay with her even though he knew what he had done...chilling.
I think the key to Chris’s actions may be in his mom’s refusal to believe he could do anything bad. Chances are that she believed that for all his life, where he never learned consequences.
Nonsense. Just because she couldn't believe he would smash her face in with a fire-axe, doesn't mean she thought he couldn't do anything bad. I caught my kid lying about using a calculator during her maths homework the other day, doesn't mean I'm now wary she might drive a pickaxe into my skull some night as I'm dozing on the couch.
@@clon76 I think he meant the kid was pampered and even protected from consequences by the mom, which can make normal people screw up their life. Still requires a psychopath to do that, so I get what you mean, but a psychopath having a mom like that is just a ticking time bomb.
@clon76 Yeah, your silly anecdotal "evidence" doesn't reinforce your disagreement here. That's laughably far below your child trying to murder you, murdering their other parent, and then you not only implicating them, but rescinding that accusation, and then posting their bail and keeping in contact with them. There is absolutely no connection between your analogy and this issue described in Chris' case for many reasons, among them being the consistency of the poor behavior. Kids push boundaries and learn about manipulation by doing at a young age. That's healthy and normal, as long as boundaries and discipline is set out accordingly. It's not normal to continue with consistently acting that way into adulthood and then having enablist parents, family, friends, etc. continuing to support poor behavior through lack of consequence. I've known people with parents that think they can do no wrong and have very few healthy boundaries with them, their entire lives. They are absolutely the kind of people that wouldn't know how to respond to something like this in any functional or healthy way. They are also absolutely the kind of narcissists that would believe they're still in the right and "punish" the other party for daring to claim otherwise. If it's not punishment, then it's simply them not knowing how else to handle the situation, and impulsively lashing out in some harmful way. Point is, these are the types of people that grow into entitled, self-centered, toxic, and reckless adults. A kid getting disciplined regularly (according to their behavior, obviously) and knowing healthy boundaries does not add up to whatever is wrong with Chris. It's a valid suggestion, given the aftermath of this incident, that he may have been treated this way his entire life, or some of his life. It's also possible he's just fucked up in the head. Regardless, his mother's enabling behavior is a problem. Consistency is absolutely the key to raising another human, and it can make or break that human if done poorly.
If the doctor ever said the phrase, 'you don't have cancer, you have a tree', to me... they'd have to repeat that tree part like a billion times before I could understand what they just said to me.
I was thinking they must be delusional moment the mom talked about jewelry being bugged and being overly cautious/paranoid. And after the daughter never saw police, I knew it was the case. And I didn't really notice it at first, but if mob wanted to kill you and knew where you were, you would be dead.
I really feel for the second story. My mum had schizophrenia and pretty much the only reason I didn't get folie a deux from her was because we both have "dominant personalities". The ending especially. No, you don't get an apology from a delusional parent, because in their eyes, they were doing the right thing, they were "protecting" you. It's hard to exist in a world where you've been harmed but you have to come to terms with the fact that you can't blame the person who hurt you because it technically wasn't their fault.
Yeah she "wasn't responsible" for moving her kids multiple times and having an affair and destroying the life of her husband. Keep telling yourself that.
@@markjacks3828 Also when you're in the witness protection program, you are not reachable by people from the past. It's not a program where agents just watch you very closely; you get a new identity. No way would Pauline be able to just call her mother like that; I think that was the first red flag. And the last red flag was "don't call the police". But I expected something sinister to happen, so Mom and Stan just being insane was anticlimactic to me.
Same. Idk how to describe it but i felt so weird and frightened and i've been fine listening to the others but this hit me so hard. I'm still shooken after hearing it.
This man has a good way of telling stories, the movement he does to kind of show us what was happening is absolutely amazing, he does such detailed stories, good job
It sounded abit odd when Chris said "They said my parents were found .....umm....I guess dead I dunno,. They didn't say how or anything"quickly cuthimself off when he said he was told they found his parents dead. Shows he expected his mum to be found dead and had a planned script.
I agree, before he even said anything about him having been the one who did that to him, I was just listening and I hadn't yet realized that this was the story as I have heard all about this fucked up tragic case before already, but I don't believe that I heard that call he made before tho when he was pretending he had no idea and had just found out that apparently sumthing awful had happened to his parents resulting in both of their deaths..... but I was listening and I really started paying attention cuz I was like really? What the fuck? And Ballen was saying oh he's very upset cuz you can tell he can hardly even form words at the time... I'm guessing that could've been sarcasm also, but I stopped what I was doing and picked up my phone to start following much more closely cuz I was like, he sounds not at all even concerned in the slightest bit in all honesty. And yes, while it's true that not everyone ever even will come close to responding to news of events that are extreme moments and times when going through despair and grief beyond think able for what most people even go thru in their lifetimes...and circumstances like that, so yeah I would never try to judge too harshly at least when they show up in the news and maybe people online are all picking apart some person that just had found their whole world crashing down on them, and now are sitting there having a reporter shoving a mic in their faces when they haven't even been given a single moment to process any of that, let alone be left to grieve at all respectfully in private for a second of time usually either.... none of us probably have the slightest clue how we'd be reacting to some of these things, and if we're lucky enough we hopefully will never ever have to experience pain or loss of such an extreme magnitude as some are very unfortunate to have.... that being said...I think there's some times where we can pretty much all collectively recall hearing a person speak (for example Casey Anthony, Chris Watts) after this person should be at the very least seeming to be numb with confusion and grief-stricken, terrified, anxious, maybe hoping the best but ultimately fearing the worst.... and I am sitting there watching those interviews that Chris was so fucking eager to make even against the better judgements of his own MIL that even knew straight away he had to be guilty and that he did sumthing to them... and still advised him not to go on camera.... his fucking smiling pos face talking about how much he misses his wife and two little girls so much, knows in his heart that they are somehow ok out there somewhere and he just needs them back desperately.... doesn't care why she left or where she's been even just he wants/needs them to come home...to him cuz he feels like he can't.... blah blah and all that... it was all about him what he said, and even know ik right away like most all of us the first clip even of him how fucking full of shit he was, after that, watching that pos not even hold back smiling while discussing his family being supposedly missing under the worst type of circumstance, pregnant almost to term wife, 2 extremely little bitty girls.... without a trace even like that would be a possibly... Just no. Not even for a second. But yeah, not just that but than finding out and hearing about the gruesome details of that and this one as well... how he is smiling while lying thru his teeth all hours after he strangles his bare hands than is shoving his 2 babies girls in oil tanks.... and the details of this as well... doing that to your own parents... yeah that's a true psychopath for sure... you would think they would at least be smarter, and maybe try to be better at hiding that... maybe not smile nor fuckin act bored on the phone while trying to call to "find out" news about both your parents suddenly died and you sounding on the phone exactly like you are doing the most uninteresting chore of your day by making that phone call... like hearing the news about your parents death must've woken you from your nap, or sumthing now you're having to do this chore to call about what exactly must've happened that killed them...like what dif does it make, if they're dead than they're dead... but I was told I supposedly have to call and find all this info out and I'm guessing this is gonna completly screw up my entire week for me as I'll probably now have to cancel my entire plans for who knows how long to plan and attend a funeral and a bunch of other chores to burden me down..like how selfish of them for dying like that and leaving all this for me to have to now worry about... no one acts like that...I can understand a person seeming or acting detached like none of it has really even hit them yet or they are having to remain strong for others in the family...I understand being so confused and not having even any of it really having clicked yet for you.... just disbelief... like I totally would get that, I sure would be if I'd only heard on the phone from someone random or whoever that my parents died... I'd sure as hell be in disbelief... wouldn't want to believe that, would hope it was a mistake somehow or even a sick joke would be better than the truth.... but he sounds neither for sure... He honestly sounds rather so fucking unaffected like he's calling to check what is gonna be on the menu at the cafeteria or some shit.... I just can't even fathom that shit....

As soon as her mom told her that her jewelry was bugged, I knew it was delusional
My mom and my step-dad. They have been missing since 2008. But I think that situation was more like gangstalking.

There is something extremely unsettling about the stories like this third one where someone is functioning on a legally dead brain. It's equally intriguing and horrifying how someone can still survive for however long without realizing their own head wounds.
It’s scarier that the murder itself.
Sorry for the poor grammar!
The axe attacks all left his motor cortex and parietal lobe undeterred. He was a living zombie until his brain eventually gave out.
Imagine if it hadn't given out until he'd gotten to work...
But how did they know if that happened, ho witnessed that, was there any cameras in that house cuz I wanna see the footage
Reminds me of my friend that was found on his kitchen floor after suffering a heart attack.
At he hospital, he was hooked up to all kinds of machines and was in a coma
It so happened that the day I visited him I was startled when he ‘woke’ up, started ripping the tubes and wires that was hooked up to him and he looked at me and asked me if we are still going out for breakfast because we planned it the day before his heart attack.
He proceeded to look around the room and had this quizzical expression for a few seconds then fell back down into his hospital bed. By this time nurses came barging in because of the alarms he set off by tearing away at the tubes and such.
It was a pretty creepy moment.
He died the next day.
And yet I'm mad when I get up early at all.... Need mine checked out. Lol
I remember watching a show as a kid where guy got suddenly shot in the head and just when his family thought he was dead, he opened his eyes and talked with them for few minutes before actually dying. I've never seen something like that happening in any other movie. People always die immediately after gettimg shot in head.
In some movies people instantly die when they get shot in the chest lol. Real life is far more insane and interesting tbh

Inquiring as to the status of his mother, obviously fishing for info as to whether she'll be able to testify against him or not.
I thought it was a little strange that he was really calm about his father's death, but I didn't think it was creepy at all.
not everyone reacts to trauma the same.
@@blakdragon2202 Not to dismiss what you're saying but it's completely different, If it came up on the news that you're mum and dad were suddenly axed to death and you reacted like this guy there is something hugely wrong with you.
When an expected death of a family member happens that is not an immediate shock to the system in the same way. Especially if you have others around that you have to be strong for etc..
What you've explained is about as normal as it gets when it comes to a natural expected death of someone you love, conflicting feelings of happy that they no longer suffer and sad that you'll never get to see them again.
@@ReptillianStrike Not creepy? @@Thurgor_Supreme wow that’s crazy. I never would have thought of it as a collective of delusional people. That’s F’ed up.
@christineshotton824
This is one big issue I agree with within ranks of authority.

@clon76
Yeah, your silly anecdotal "evidence" doesn't reinforce your disagreement here.
