This why as a parachute rigger in the Army, someone once told me in general "The day you are no longer scared to jump or don't get nervous is the day you need to quit because you will get yourself killed or get someone killed. That fear or nervousness is what makes you aware of everything".

I knew Ivan McGuire from work. He worked third shift and I worked second shift. He absolutely loved sky diving. One thing that wasn’t mentioned is that he had also came off of working 3rd shift at Northern Telecom. It wasn’t unusual for Ivan to go to the drop zone after working. I remember talking to him about it and he said he never stayed late so he could get home and get enough rest for the next day (night) of work. They asked him to stay to film the 3rd jump which was to late for him to be there but that was the type of guy he was, very kind and generous. I remember that day clearly as I was working that day. My manager came to me and said that he had heard Ivan died while sky diving. It was devastating, Ivan was a kind and gentle soul and I still miss him.

As an adopted child, the triplets' story has always angered me. I grew up knowing I had an older sister out there somewhere in the world and I instinctually sought out girls who were slightly older than me to be friends with. I desperately wanted that connection. When I was finally able to find my sister, the weekend we spent together freaked my parents out because of how similar the two of us were. The same laugh, the same gait, the same religious mindsets. We even *breathed* the same when we slept! My mom had poked her head into the room to check on us and found us sleeping in the same position, breathing in tandem. I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like if we had been identical.

Who on earth thinks it’s okay to “study” (more like rip twin and triplet siblings apart) others without their consent or knowledge. Then they tried to hide it. I don’t know if that adoption agency still exists today but I can only hope it doesn’t. Anyone involved (besides the innocent families of course) is a piece of human garbage.

It is unethical, but psychology is rlly though field, a lot of speculations which cant always be proven, and you cant jeopardise the experiment by informing the parents or the kids, so the only way it could be done is by keeping them in the dark. These kind of experiments happened a few times in the past and were mostly unsuccessful, or cancelled after some time. Its truly awful to be used as a lab rat especially if it proved or discovered nothing.

Every time you said "the third twin" I laughed a little. There is no third in twins! But in all seriousness - those poor triplet boys never stood a chance. I'm sure this amazing adoption agency was tricking poor or single mothers into giving up their twins or triplets so they would have enough for their "study." I imagine the records were sealed long enough so that no lawsuits could come out of this evil and tragic experiment. Humans really are horrible.

"Tricked" might be a tad strong... Having a single baby can be a strain on anyone's budget, and there are already plenty of parents-to-be who choose adoption as a viable alternative to abortion... Trying to "do the right thing" has consequences, and when you're already juggling bills and just subsisting with faith, ONLY to find out that instead of A baby, you're about to have 2 or 3, it can be facing the impossible...
While twins are relatively rare, we have to consider that in just the U.S. there are about 350 to 400 MILLION people, so that's a LOT of couples at or hovering around and below the poverty line... As rare as it is to naturally have multiples, it DOES happen, so the agency wouldn't have a lot of trouble finding a "pool" for the study... Maybe a little "sales" push, but trickery didn't need to be involved... AND even today with the nicest among adoption agencies, there are privacy concerns, so once you've signed off the form, giving up your parental rights, they can do whatever the hell they want with the children as far as placing them is concerned... That one form ENDS your control entirely.
AND legitimately, in the U.S. (at least) adoption is an expensive damn thing to do. It's tedious as much as materially consumptive. While that SHOULD weed out folks without the financial capability to raise more than one child, it IS still a legitimate argument that most couples want to adopt ONE at a time. There are exceptions along with folks who are willing to take multiple children as a "bonus" or "bargain"... at the risk of sounding callous... BUT that's also relatively uncommon. It does make sense that agencies are willing to separate twins and triplets or more to get them to homes that will take care of them, frequently without even mention that there are siblings. ;o)

    • @AnyoneCanSee
      @AnyoneCanSee Рік тому

@@gnarthdarkanen7464 - Adoption agencies NEVER separate twins or triplets. Google it. It is completely unethical.
This was some sort of government-backed study on nature vs nurture. They deliberately desperate twins and in this case triplets and put one in a poor home with poorly educated parents, one in a middle class and one in a wealthy home with highly educated parents.
hey wanted to answer the age-old question as it had massive meaning for eugenics and society. If they found a child in a poor environment turned to crime but the genetically identical one was a doctor they are going to want to remove kids from poor environments based on this proof.
There have been countless studies on this as it has such wide-reaching implications for society. If you have genetically identical test studies they believe you could answer it once and for all. That is what this experiment was all about. Separate twins and see if they are different in different environments. The reason they know the government was involved is due to the doctor's connections and the fact the experiment is still sealed.
They were all used in this study.
If you are interested they now know for sure it is genetic. Having advantages offers better opportunities but you are born how you are, it is all genetic.
The Noble prize-winning geneticist Robert Williamson told me this personally.

I'm an identical twin myself, and I heard about this study and how they basically did it to see the impact of twins without their other half and how the twins perform in life. For the most part, the twins- both of them, were depressed or just didn't end up successfull in anyway. This was because they were missing their other half. I'm not exactly sure if this is true, but as a twin myself, if I didn't have my sister and didn't know she existed, I would probably feel empty as if I was missing something. Being born a twin is truly blessing and its even more of a blessing to grow up together and experience everything when you're younger. This experiment truly disgusts me seeing how much I would do anything for my twin and love her more than myself. I cant help but feel bad for those triplets. So sad how things ended up😕💔.

When we planned a sleepover, my mom walked me over so she could meet Emily's family. She took one look at Emily's mom and realized it was her cousin Linda.

Before she could tell him what was on her mind he interrupted her and said, " OH NO MOM NOT another sister!!" And NO it was not another one of us. I can relate to the Identical Strangers, somewhat:
1980’s I worked for a well known oil company in New Orleans, LA. For years I was approached by random strangers who thought I was someone else. They all seemed to really like him. One day it happened in my building so I asked them who they thought I was. I don’t remember his name, but they knew his office #, same building! I couldn’t resist walking past his open door, slowing down, locking eyes, smiling & continuing on. It was like looking in a mirror. Beard, glasses, etc. … freaky.
Then I remembered my sister calling California in 1978, I was in college & she asked our mother to check on me. She swore she had seen me in New Orleans that day on a bus, by the oil company building she worked at, same street I’d work on 3 years later.
    I never saw him again.

I don’t have a twin but a half brother and yes it’s scary he knows of me and I of him and my father and his mother were still friendly until she passed at only 63 it devastated my father my brother was mums boy and hasn’t wanted contact with my father. He always offered to pay she refused. As I have another half brother his mother abandoned him!!! My father kept him! His parents watched him while he worked constant to pay. Then he met my mother and I was born ne my eldest brother always been close but our half brother middle child we don’t know. I did meet him in a club when he said his name and I asked what his parents names were and he told me and my fathers name, it’s extremely multitude of emotions I ran away!! I couldn’t cope. My father asked so many questions I felt bad cause he wanted to know all about to this day he keeps tabs on him. His job kids etc. it’s a scary feeling if I’d to see him again I don’t know what I’d do. My husband knows him as he is from next town too, and he’s spoke with him he wasn’t interested in his father etc but he said my wife is your sister like his other sister is his half sister and well how can you blame her and not bother and he’s a big boy rather intimidating but he said well isn’t her fault about you’re parents! Hope never happens to you, you split and you’re kids aren’t interested!! It’s pathetic. Ultimately but your decision. It’s hurtful to think you’re own blood doesn’t want anything to do with you or your kids.

They have been inseparable and best friends since conception. I can’t imagine one without the other! They’ve always introduced each other as this is my best friend instead of my brother or my twin. As newborns they were very premature and needed incubators. They wouldn’t sleep and didn’t do well until they were allowed to be in the same one together. As small toddlers they would reach across to each other’s cribs and pull them together by grabbing each other’s arms and pulling and for fear of them tipping them over they again were allowed to stay sleeping together. They were early teens before they finally separated in the bunk beds even though they’d had them for years. Up until then they’d both sleep on the bottom bunk which is a full-size bed. I don’t think they would survive without each other! This study just seems cruel!

In my gender psychology course in college we talked about the triplets. It was discussed that they had actually spent the first six months of their lives together and that likely played into their similarities. We also know that influence on a child begins in the womb as they eat specific foods, hear sounds through the mothers body, feel when the carrier is tense and calm, etc. Honestly the argument between nature and nurture is too black and white. We can continue to discuss what parts of ourselves are genetic and what is learned, but it is NEVER only one or the other.

ya, it's not quite that simple in this case, i'd suggest digging deeper than what this video explains
"Adoptions at the time were closed adoptions. The research team had an obligation to preserve confidentiality about the biological history of the children. As Dr. Lawrence Perlman, a clinical psychologist and researcher in the twin study has written, the “adoptive parents, entering into a contract with the Louise Wise Services, were guaranteed that they would not know anything about the family background of their infants, including the possible existence of biological siblings.”
The open adoption movement was many years away. The filmmakers omit the information that the study began long before the rules of informed consent were codified by the National Research Act of 1974. Several researchers were involved in the study over approximately 15 years and it is important also to note that it had funding by the National Institute of Mental Health after review. "
in addition those people did publish papers on the studies and kept the subjects information confidential, and also why they remain confidential, because the original contract is still in play.

It hurts like hell to know that I am his firstborn child, and he raised an entire family, including a stepdaughter, but doesn't want me. You were wanted by your adoptive family. I was wanted by my mother (I also have a stepfather). Take comfort in knowing that someone chose and loved you. Family are the ones who were there for you through all of the good and bad, and love you no matter what. If you need to know if you're genetically predisposed to a certain cancer, there is genetic testing. Otherwise, there are cancer checks during routine checkups. I don't know half of my family's medical history, and have fared well, as have many others. Keep your loved ones close and appreciate them. While it still hurts, try not to think too much about the ones who don't care about you. It's their loss. The fact that they had identical temperaments and mannerisms, and one was someone who was bullied and hardly had any friends in high school and the other was one that was so well liked at college that everyone was overjoyed to see him return for another year, just proves the fact that whether you are popular or not has nothing to do with you. It’s all about whatever environment you’re lucky or unlucky enough to be thrown into.

I grew up in a house of abuse. Most of which was psychological abuses from my mother, whom has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. My father also has NPD.. and unlike her, he was also extremely threatening and Violently abuse... However... he was kicked out before I turned 6.
Their negative ways were absorbed... and I acted and reacted, in identical ways. I was selfish, cold hearted / mean spirited, jealous, vindictive, petty, angry, etc. That said... I did have a few positive people in my life, that influenced me in the opposite direction. My non-blood Grandfather, was kind hearted, patient, respectful, loving, generous, forgiving, compassionate...etc. Though, I only got to see him on a few of the Holidays, for a limited amount of time / exposure.
In addition to being abused at home, I also had people bully me at the places we lives, as well as at school. As a result of all of this, I felt that the entire world was against me. I basically didnt talk to anyone, until about mid 4th grade... when I started to realize that not everyone was pure and utter Evil.
That said... I was still a very damaged person, and I had no sense of humor (couldnt take even a mild playful tease / joke, at my own expense). I would lash out at other. Make poor negative assumptions. Was completely wrapped up within my own plight, to the point of not being aware of others. I started to realize, that a lot of the negative things that were happening in my "relationships", were a direct result of my own Poor interactions with others. My own bad attitudes / behaviors.
I would spend most of my time, trying to diagnose what was wrong with me.. despite the pain of knowing I was even worse off that I could barely even accept at the time. Every day, I forced myself to face my inner weakness, darkness, and other lackings... and began the work to try to repair myself, and alter my behaviors, step by step... day by day. It was a long, painful, and slow process... but in the end, I was successful in making a complete turn around.
By the 6th grade, I had gained a few friends. I had developed the ability to take a joke. I was nicer, and I spoke to others more often. I still, was largely flawed, and still was not well liked. Certainly, I was not that popular... but I got along well with others.
By 7th, I improved greatly, and I was no longer a person that was massive picked on. I would hear a rumor that a few of the popular females were interested in me... but I never believed such a thing was possible... so nothing ever transpired in that dept.
I believe it was 8th grade, when my mother cheated on my stepfather... and so I had to move to an entirely new place / school. I was dreading this... because I was finally starting to feel "accepted", rather than Ostracized, as a complete loser. To my surprise, I found that a lot of people wanted to be my friend. I was totally blown away, in the stark difference in treatment. I was suddenly, one of the more Popular kids, at school. People would high-five me, and say hello to me in the halls. I was asked to sit with certain people / groups. I had one girl, ask me out, which completely blew my mind.
When I was much younger.. I noticed that a kid that dressed even more poor than myself... and whom had pretty bad odor.. as if he never bathed... was still liked and respected, FAR more than I ever was. I was surprised at this fact. But realized, that he personality, was just so much better and more likable, than myself. As much as I wanted it to merely be about my poor clothing, and even about my looks... The fact was.. that most of the issue was all about my personality. The way I was interacting with others, was a direct reflection of how I was treated.
That said... when I got my first job, and could afford nice clothing.. I felt better about myself, which boosted my confidence, and made me feel better. That caused me to react even more positively towards others... which further helped to change peoples former developed opinions about me. But as stated... even with great clothes, my personality and internal development, still had a long way to go.
It would take until about age 25, before I had completely repaired and built myself up fully, internally.
Though, most of the best changes to the quality of my life, were Well before that age.
I will also add, that being "Popular", in school, isnt all that special.. and in fact.. a lot of the so called popular kids, are often Narcissistic Bullies... and or "Lemmings", that follow each other. They often tended to have their own issues, despite it appearing that they had things "Easy". And when these kids got out into the Adult world.. "Popularity", suddenly held little real value at all. I know one, whom ended up getting hooked on drugs, and passing away... despite my former assumption that he would have went on to have great success in his life.
When I was most weak... I wanted to point the finger of blame on everyone, and or everything... other than myself. Had I kept that Toxic victimhood nature... my quality of life would have only gotten worse, instead of better. While you cant always control every aspect of your life... you ALWAYS have personal choices, for your thoughts, feelings, and actions. When you take personal accountability, and work hard to improve yourself... there is little that can stop you from attaining a superior quality of life.

Thats the exact opposite conclusion you should've drawn from this
Behavior is 70% genetic. Many studies support that behavior is mostly genetic but social scientists have difficulty admitting it because of the implications on deviant behavior/success outcomes so they choose to ignore it instead. Who you are is defined by your genes. Very little will change that. They would very much prefer to blame socioeconomic status even though there are many other factors that correlate much stronger to success/failure and law abiding/criminal than SES, the main one being genetics. People don't change, from birth to death you pretty much have the life you were supposed to have. Make the most of that within that range. If that demoralizes you then you're genetically predisposed to it demoralizing you. If it spurs you to try harder because you believe your potential is much higher then you were always genetically predisposed to be spurred to try harder in order to reach your potential
If you were to even everything out and give everyone the exact same starting point and exact same amount of wealth, eventually the thieves would still end up thieves. The addicts would still end up addicts. The geniuses would still end up geniuses. Most of the poor would still end up poor and most of the successful individuals would still end up successful with a bit of wiggle room influencing outcomes
Social scientists are so obsessed with not committing the fundamental attribution error that they constantly commit environmental attribute errors. People fundamentally are the way they are

Agreed. There should be comprehensive checks done before anyone skydives from a airplane given the height and ninety nine point nine recurring percent chance of death if no parachute or parachute failure. The only survival cases of skydivers not dying is when their descent is partially absorbed by trees. But still means usually lifechanging injuries, plus heart attack from the terror of the fall. I think it is still the case there are still no legally binding guidelines on skydiving prejump safety precautions for those in charge of safett checks, i.e prison time for failure to check chutes are in divers backpack and are intact. i mean it takes hardly any time to check that. But Ivan is also an absolute idiot for doing that twice. His obsession with the camera equipment and casual neglect over the parachute means while i hope his death was instant, to spare him suffering, his death is still well-deserved. Like in many cases, idiocy of this level angers me even more than acts of seemingly pure evil..

That triplet study was horrible. I could have told them that information. My sister lost custody of her daughter when she was a baby, I adopted her. I was shocked how much she was like her mother she never knew. Her mannerism, speech, what she liked and disliked etc.. identical. She was so much like my sister I accidently called her by her mothers name several times. She looked liked her and acted exactly like her.

The DC Snipers.... That was such a terrifying experience. Everyone was terrified to go out. No one was safe, nowhere was safe. We spent weeks "bobbing and weaving" through parking lots. Hating to stop and get gas. I worked at the hotel where the task force stayed in Fredericksburg VA. Seeing state police, ATF walking around scared themselves didn't make us feel better. Prayers to all the victims and families in all of these stories.

Uncomfortable having to go out of your house. I pray no-one ever has to deal with anything remotely similar.

My sons went to the school right outside of Ashland, VA where the sniper hit on Oct 19 2002 & left a 4 page letter threatening kids. Considering how rural & wooded the area is, the schools did a phenomenal job setting bus barricades to protect the kids getting in & out of the schools.

I delivered newspapers, and I had to get out of my car to deliver to townhouses. One day, after my delivery, I was at my full time job listening to the radio. That’s when I found out that that morning they shot a student at a middle school in Bowie, MD. I delivered to the townhouses across the street from there, and the houses across the street from the park next to the school where it was suspected they were hiding out that morning. It became very difficult for a while to deliver, that is until they were caught.

About the last story; My brother and I are only 2 years apart, but i never met him until i was a teenager because I was adopted while he wasnt. When we did meet, i noticed we were very similar, not just because we looked identical, but because we acted the same. We had the same posture, we walked the same, he had my mannerisms and tics. It was honestly kind of freaky how similar he was to me, and ive spent a long time wondering why that was since we were raised very differently (he was raised in the country, i was raised in the city. his parents were in their 30’s and mine were in their 50’s, etc)

I grew up hearing that my mother and my aunt looked identical. From pictures I just plain and simply didn’t see it. Then when I was 21 I met my aunt. She did something and for a moment she WAS my mother. It freaked me out. My mother had been dead for a year and a half at that time.

Same exact thing with me. I got adopted and my "half" brother didn't. Never really thought about why we were so much alike, just a "it's in our blood" type of thing. I just recently found out I have 2 more half brothers and sister from my biological father that I never got to meet. We are also very alike in many ways.

interesting..nd not twins let's hope this doesn't lead to another study, on the other hand, my sister and I are miles apart in every way we had the same parents but she was the "golden" child and I was the "black sheep" and we were treated accordingly completely different relationships with our parents and our children retreated very differently by them as well, which hurts them and breaks my heart to see them treated as "second-class" grandkids it's so bad I've thought of cutting off contact, but I believe kids need as many people to love them as they can get so I'm torn about it

At family reunions my aunts and uncles would constantly call me by his name and then my other older brothers name and then end up with mine.

It's pretty common knowledge that whenever the words "twins" and "psychology" appear together, the answer is almost always "nurture vs nature".

@@tron103 there is no one answer. its a mix of both. The best hypothesis I've heard in my psychology class likened both sides to a coloring book, nurture is the outline and nature is the actual colors. Basically, nurture is the foundation that guides how nature influences you. They work hand in hand to create the whole picture.

Besides, have you heard of these things called spectrums?
See, the reason the report is locked away is because it is yet another 'doesn't prove either way' result. Only this involved who knows how many children, three boys and two girls where mentioned in this video, to get that non-conclusive result. If I was a researcher and I had ended up with this very result... I too would want them to shelve it long after I was dead. No need to be just another failed case in the long path of people who have tackled this issue.
