My dear Jill, you are the angel of Beading haven !! I would have given up on doing peyote if I hadn't come across this. Thanks to you, I don't have to fight with those pesky beginning rows. Thank you from the bottom of my beady little heart!❤️❤️❤️
Jill I just want to say Thank You So Much I have learned so much from you in the last year. You have helped me develop a gift that I know came from God and you an angle here on earth, so Thank You with all my heart, may God Bless you and your family.
Thank you very much, for such easy to follow instruction videos. I have waited for nearly fifty years to find a way to learn beading. With Internet and you tube, learning (across the world ) is now a accessible. I am loving it.
I'm a little thick when it comes to comprehending new methods - But your video/teaching is the easiest, most pleasant that I have seen! Thanks for being a great teacher!
Thank you so much Jill. ❤ What a huge difference you have made to my beading. Your tutorials are fantastic and have made it so much easier for me. Frustration at starting is sooo much less now! Brilliant 💐💐
That is a wonderfully practical way to start peyote and can be used over and over again. Your mother appears to be the most patient of beaders, judging by what I've seen of her work.
Oh My Gourd, Jill! You are my life (time) saver and a national treasure. Thank you so much for teaching us this beading technique and for all the wonderful lessons you have graced us with. You are the Best and Thank You Again!!! Kisses, BAJ
So glad that I found this video. It was so well done and so helpful to get peyote started. I have now used it for both even count and odd count peyote. Not sure why I was a little confused on the odd count, but I finally got it and it works like a charm. Thank you Jill for your excellent directions and wonderful video.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I’ve made two and they are fantastic. I can’t believe how much easier peyote is now, how much better the results look and feel. You are a wizard!
This video is so professional! I struggled with brick stitch in the past, and watching your hands and how you held the thread made me realize I had been holding it in an awkward position. I liked your tip about using an odd number of beads and the reason why. Thanks a million!
This is a 3-in-1 video for me!! 1. I now have a great peyote-starter (my most dreaded stitch ever to start), 2. I learned the Brick Stitch, 3. I found a nice use for those not-so-uniform cheap beads! Mine is not so pretty, but I got rid of some of those "bargain" beads and just made sure to only use the same size/shape on the end that matters. Thank you SO much for this video, Jill!!! Being able to do peyote will open a whole new door in bead weaving for me!
Jill Wiseman, you and your mom are geniuses!!! This is fabulous! I always struggle starting peyote on long straps so I will definitely be making my own starter strip. Thank you so much for sharing this!
A million thank you's!!! I had been trying to figure out how to make my own paper ones like you can buy. Now I don't have to. I have to say this is an amazing idea. Just like the other gals on here, you have made my beading life much easier. Jill you are so smart and so generous to share your beading ideas and designs with us. So grateful!!!
I have to thank you once again. You always share with us the new idea of beading skill other then the design of the project , how nice your tutorial is !
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!I was not going to try this certain stitch because I was thinking that it was to difficult, but you put my mind at ease!!!! Tell your Mom what a Beautiful piece she made.😊
Thank you so much! I bought a bead loom pattern (or so I thought) of a dog to make for my dad (looks like a dog he lost & loved so very much) and it turned out to be a peyote pattern instead of a bead loom pattern. Because of you, I will be able to make this pattern for him. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you SO MUCH Jill! This is really a great tip for those of us who needs those beads evenly and securely fixed when starting peyote ! This video makes my day happier ! :-)
I am LOVING this video!! Thank you so much! I have wanted to try making beaded tapestry, but it was so frustrating trying to start such long rows. Bless you my dear, and give Mama hugs, her tapestry is fabulous!! 💖
This is a great recycle idea. I can use the "not quite right colors" making my starter strip. I have a few that I bought online that just were not the right shade I needed for my project. Thanks!
Love your work Jill! It’s a pleasure to learn with you. I first saw you when you were on JTV! I really enjoyed your gorgeous creations! Glad to find myself doing bead weaving now, not just stringing. You make it seem so very simple! Thank you for all the great information and I now am hooked on weaving! I hope this finds you very well! God bless!
Thank you for doing this video, it's so much more simple than I anticipated. I love your videos, I've learned so much from them. I'm really enjoying my beading journey so far. Hope you're staying safe and well during this stressful time with CoVid19. Take care & God bless 😊💖
I really have never had any issues with starting peyote, so I almost didn't watch this. I'm glad I did. I don't often do a real long peyote start, but I can see where this would be good for that. So easy to get lost stringing row 1 & 2. Also, I just did a tubular peyote piece was really wide and I know even though the beads are right, I twisted the thread a couple times when adding row 3. Not exactly sure how to adapt this for the piece I'm thinking of, but I'm going to give it a try. I think it could be done. Love your videos!
Thanks Jill! This will be so helpful. I love the Quick Start Peyote Stitch Cards that I bought from you, but this will be much better for those larger projects.
Finally, the answer! I've bought those Quick Start Peyote cards but they are too small for my beads and don't work. I've been fumbling for days giving up on first five rows that look horrible, and keep restarting many times. I can see why you use the brick stitch, to create the ups and downs. Going to do this tonight, there's hope, thank you.
Wow, this is my first time of hearing about this method. Very, nice. I will try this. I love the peyote look but not the peyote aggravation. Thanks again!
Oh Jill this is Brilliant!! 😃👍👍 You & your momma are a genius! I just purchased those Quick Start Peyote strips & I'm about to try one out. But I'm guna definitely make me one of these!! Thank you for sharing your Amazing knowledge & talent with the world! You Rock Jill! Sending lots of luv your way 💜😘
Thank you so much! I have been attempting the peyote for about 2 weeks now…. I thought what is wrong with me! Why cant i get this! This helps so much. Thank you
Wonderful video! Four-in-one - how to make and use a starter strip, ladder stitch and peyote stitch. It is indeed magic, especially since I can use the beads I've had for decades and never actually wanted to use lol. Thanks so much!
I resisted doing this method for years. Made a starter strip last night. I like it except what I thought would happen did, splitting threads causing the anchor thread to be caught and the struggle to yank it in order to cut it out. Yes, I am using Nymo because I have tons of it and do not want to buy anything new until I have used what I already own. Thanks for the tutorial, much appreciated.
Terry, I quit using Nymo precisely because of the splitting threads. I now use Fireline. It's worth it to end the agony and frustration of that splitting thread!
Inny and outy, I never thought belly button terms would be used in a beading video! lol I love this idea. Nearly all my work is in peyote, either beaded bezels or tapestry so this will be really useful. I have no issue using the traditional method of starting but I think this will be easier, less fiddly to do :)
Ugly beads as a starter strip what a great idea!!! Thank you for sharing this, and thinking of how many times I had to “torture” my self into making these really wide peyote bracelets!
Hi Jill. Thanks for showing how to make a starter tool. I am new to Stitching and find it very difficult and frustrating to start the peyote stitch. I'm hoping I can make this tool so I can create some peyote pieces I have been wanting to make. Thanks so much again, Jill.
excellent advice. Quite often I would end up making the first two rows in two different colors so that I could determine which was my first/second and which was my third rows. then I'd end up taking them out of my finished design if it didn't blend.
I just have to tell you that I loved the video making the peyote starter strip. I used the same 10/0 Delica‘s that you did and it works perfect for the 11/0 beads but I was curious if you could tell me what size beads I would use to make a starter strip for 15/0 delicas? I tried using the same strip and it just didn’t work for me. Any advice you could give would be great. I want to start doing tapestries of birds for a friend of mine and I’m definitely going to need a starter strip. Thank you very much
I was wondering the same thing; this is an amazing way to begin peyote projects but when Jill mentioned using 10/0 delicas to create the starter strip I figured that would be for using only 10/0 Delica beads but you’ve cleared that up. Thank you
Just found this starter strip idea. GREAT IDEA love it. One question I need to make strarter stripes for each size bead or could one starter strip be used for multiple size beads? I know its a silly question just hoping for the answer I want to hear.
Great video! I'm new, learning way of starting projects, thanks for this video. I was wondering if you can use 11/0 seed beads or any size seed beads to start the peyote stitch?
i hope you read this Dear jill. i so enjoy you. thank you for giving me hope to bead again. i find beading and watching you gives me freedom from anxiety. i used to be a great beader long ago..1985 began in bead loom weaving all with seed beads...in 1986. i did long earrings w bugel beads as a baseline brick stitched a triangle top then long fringed the bottom. i called them shoulder dusters.i sold them for $4 . i live in very rural Vt. No bead stores but a c moore an hr away but there are no cylinder beads as i see in your beautiful sample anywhere. i have about a dozen small bags of 2 ÷ mm bugel beads for they were the base of the earrings i made . i am left w about a tsp of each. what can i do with such a stash? you see i gave almost everything away when i had eye operations in 1999, and 2000. Many times I watch your videos over and over to get inspired! 2015 i began making gift bracelets w 4 mm bicones sparkly crystals and with size 6 o beads b c i could easily see them. i am much more comfortable in doing beading by feel but everything is so new. I use small ott light to help me see. i loved your tricks about how to get the needle threaded ..b c it works. i wish i could sit you down with a cup of cocoa and truffles from our town and share my story with you . you help me so much. Many nights i am up all night from pain. But your generous teachings so encourage me, relax me and excite me with the hope that i can move forward. . i do not know any beader but you. thank you for being kind to the beading world. blessings, Grace in Jericho
You made me laugh out loud about using those ugly beads to make a starter strip. :D I know exactly the ugly beads in my stash I'll be using. LOL! Also, a starter strip would make an excellent gift for my beady friends. It'll scare them at first wondering, "what the ... ", but then they'll love it. Thanks Jill!
I have a few dozen playlists and a lot of videos in each, but this one deserves a place of honor in my "best of the best" playlist!
Allie Buchman’s Fast Odd Count is also a rare gem!
My dear Jill, you are the angel of Beading haven !! I would have given up on doing peyote if I hadn't come across this. Thanks to you, I don't have to fight with those pesky beginning rows. Thank you from the bottom of my beady little heart!❤️❤️❤️

You are a gift! I’m a beginner and have been struggling with peyote. Thank you for this video.

Love, love, love this! That piece your mom did, that is amazing!!
Your video is the first video that I have seen to really explain and demonstrates how to do this, thank you. I did subscribe to your channel.
Oh my days, this will help so much for my next project that is 190 beads wide. Thank you soooo much.

I am LOVING this video!! Thank you so much! I have wanted to try making beaded tapestry, but it was so frustrating trying to start such long rows. Bless you my dear, and give Mama hugs, her tapestry is fabulous!! 💖
You just gave me the key to make a 13x15 tapestry. I was boggled with trying to figure out how to start the first three rows. Thank you!
OMG, you have just rocked my world! Thank you for sharing your knowledge :)
Where had this video been all my life. Thank you Jill. 😁😁😁

This is brilliant! I just used it for the first time and Holy Moly what a great experience!
How would you start an odd count?
Thanks for a great idea. I will be trying this on my next project.
Can this be used with odd count peyote? Do I start on a low or high bead for an odd count?
I would give this two thumbs up if I could!
This is such a great idea. 😮
Wonderful start. Thank you.
Wow! What a useful tip! Thank you!
Wonderful. Thank you Jill 💕👍😁
Thank you for sharing this technique.
Wow that is genus. TFS
BRILLIANT! Thank you.
Good morning Jill i downloaded some of your free patterns rings dose the pattern make a full size ring
