After watching this video, I well understood that Naatu Naatu had dominated the 95th Academy Awards! This is in itself a great honour and the RRR team has definitely uplifted Indian film industry in front of the world! I hope Indian films will get more recognition after the change in rules of eligibility criteria and voting procedure at The Academy! Lastly, congratulations to the team of RRR and The Elephant Whisperers for the big win. 2023 has been the best year for India at the Oscars.

Else people like J.C.Bose, Ramanujan would have got Nobel Prizes! Even I think "You haven't won an international award, no problem, at least you won people's hearts." But I hope you have read the last few lines of the original comment. The Academy have introduced new regulations for shortlisting and nominating movies after mass protests regarding #oscarssowhite. So I guess the biased nature will reduce to some extent, if not fully. But again, Oscar is an American award, just like Filmfare is for Bollywood. So we shouldn't expect, but still we should celebrate the win.

Ramanujan would have never won the Nobel Prize because there is no Nobel Prize for Mathematics. Mathematicians who win the Nobel usually win in Economics or Physics. For example, Amartya Sen, an Iwas originally a mathematician who won the prize for Economics. Other winners from India include Tagore for Literature, Amartya Sen, Abhijit Banerjee for Economics, Har Gobind Khorana for Physiology/Medicine, Chandrashekhar Raman and S Chandrashekhar for Physics, V Ramakrishnan for Chemistry, and Kailash Satyarthi for Peace. Indians have won other awards but mostly in academic fields and literature which are less popular. For example, there have been two Indians who have won the Fields Medal (the most prestigious award in Mathematics) but not a lot of people would know about it. As for the Oscars, they have recognized talent in movies as well, albeit rarely: Bhanu Athaiya, best costume design for Gandhi (first person to do so), Satyajit Ray, honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement in films. But like someone mentioned, the regulations will hopefully bring more people from the East to the forefront in international film stages.
THIS is what the Oscars is all about. Not the stuck up Hollywood elite a-holes. THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST MOMENTS EVER IN ALL OF 95 YEARS.

This is actually so amazing. In many ways, I never thought id ever see any part of India and our arts ever included or performed on the stage of the Oscars... And in many other ways, It should have been done a long time ago too. This was a long time coming. As a young kid, I would sometimes be too embarrassed to find joy in my own culture but i grew up shaking off that dumb shame and embracing our lively culture. So seeing this makes me feel a sense of pride i had no idea i had. ❤

I don't understand a bit of the language, but I thought that this performance was one of, if not the best, parts of the whole evening. The synchronization in the dancing alone left me speechless!! The singing is absolutely beautiful, too, and the song is really, really catchy!! There's no way I could ever dance like this, but this song makes me want to get up and move! Definitely a legendary performance. :)

Yes, the Oscars favor USA , but that said, most of the films produced in India (except some small Indie ones) are far below any kind of International standard.
