@@lobsterlicker3693man this is on another level, the average trackmania player can't even finish a normal track without crashing, the absolute best trial players still need multiple hours to finish regular trial maps
copying a short segment of a TAS in a game with digital controls (i.e. very limited buttons, i.e. keyboard game) is not completely unfeasible, as long as the frames are not too short and there aren’t too many frame precise inputs. celeste players can sometimes perform TAS-like feats or even do TAS strats in normal speedruns (TAS awake being the most famous one), but strats that require rapid frame precise inputs (e.g. spinner stunning) will never be replicated copying a TAS in an analog game like trackmania is just asking for suffering

the guys who made the tas said a human will never get past the first few tricks, no matter how good they are they know exactly how hard it is, so it should say a lot
Oach is not a good benchmark for this tbh. The previous hardest trial map (final enigma) has been around since 2017 and the furthest a player got so far is cp5. Lane, who has current wr on oach (16 minutes), has only beat 1 cp on final enigma. The easiest cp on plasma might be harder than finishing final enigma, so i dont think it will ever get beaten.
a difference here is most of the tricks in the map are so precise that its very random, it might be similar in precision and timing to kaizo, but in mario you have to be precise in 2 dimensions and velocity, here you need to be precise in 3 dimensions and velocity AND 3 rotations. just about every single frame will need to be driven perfect to ensure the car is oriented correct for every single trick and jump. of course it can be possible, but its certainly multiple levels more complicated
if playing celeste mods has taught me anything, it’s that even in the best conditions (a very consistent game with precise controls and constant physics), there will be random elements even if you play “perfectly” (e.g. subpixel lottery on subpixel precise maneuvers). even there you have to remember some frame precise movements (the infamous “7f right 11f left” on D1D7) trackmania is a lot more jank
