Mountain of Eternal Winter is probably worst start for the new player, because they make you run trough high AP grinding spot. Like, straight trough. One hit and you are dead.
You can ride your horse through it, but its still very risky. Idk who thought thats good idea.
LoML is not that bad because of scaling, but you will miss huge portion of backstory and...well its really weird place from cultural point of view.
For new player with first character on the account, there should be no other option than Ancient Chamber, because its only start that gives some linear progression sense.
The system shouldnt allow new players to use Crons on tuvala or naru until they have first used crons on boss gear

As a returning player im glad bdo removed the 2nd valencia main questline to just a normal questline because that story is frustrating as hell specially the digging questline

Gained a sub, I've tried picking this game up 4 times over the past 5 years but This time it's stuck. I'm obssesed. I guess putting 700 hours into lost ark helped me understand alot about bdo. Still have so many questions though.
BDO guides DO SUCK! I had no idea I should have saved nearly all my Cron Stones for end game gear enhancing. I wasted 10's of thousands of them on lessor armors and accessories.
Don’t worry you will buy costume and extract cron then enhance losing ez 20k cron

With regards to asking for help with anything, as a new player, I avoided Google and just asked world chat. People were super helpful and usually got a correct answer to my issues right away.
EvilDoUsHarm hasn't put out good content since 2022 I don't understand the hype.
playing this game for almost a decade I can appreciate whenever one of these "new player experience" videos pop up and scams a new wave of fresh meat to install the game just to get turned into content by whales and have their new player guilds get squished by whale guild politics. Ofc there's no pvx anymore because PA wants to build a streamer birdhouse to get that sweet free advertising, and it translates to a better new player experience, but there's still a wall to hit for people who dont want to spend money and don't want to work a second job playing korean mmo.

There was a video that I watched, can't remember which off the top of my head, that I felt really nailed it. As a new player, one of the best feelings is to run around the world and explore. Once I finished the main quest for the first time, I ran around and found the majority of the nodes and npcs, just because I enjoyed exploring the world. Once I had discovered everything, I actually slowed down playing a little just because I had found it more fun to explore than to grind.
I just started BDO like 3 days ago, got to like 21.... started to feel overwhelmed and discouraged by all the systems and uninstalled yesterday. I was really enjoying the combat and just wanted more of that, but the dog water quest line/story and the not understanding the majority of what is going on with all these systems was too much. After having uninstalled for a day, I found myself reinstalling it again this morning. I just neeeeed more BDO. Why? Send help.
(I also feel like I fcked up by picking Sorceress, but I dont want to reroll because all these rewards etc... like over 5k crons etc.)
I started mmo's with EQ 1 back in 99... I would be more than fine if BDO were ALL grinding and got rid of these quests. 6 hours for a level is ez.
this video takes me back to when i was a new player even though season was about a year away at the time. i even made some of the same mistakes he did like leveling to 60 at fadus. now i want to see his thoughts at getting his first real treasure item, what gear enhancing is really like, and what it's like grinding somewhere that requires proper combos for the first time

My first character was Lahn,i never even used a mount,did a single puzzle,never got to that quest chain,or knew there was fishing or chopping wood,all i did was grind mobs till lvl60,flying from zone to zone.
As a noobie intended server, they should take away the cron option for Tuvala enhancement on season servers. many new players fall for it, since they give crons for free with events, and newbies think is a common easy to obtain resource
I had 300 hours in this game and had NO IDEA what I was doing and fked up a lot along the way (still trying to right my wrongs) and now I have 900 hours and still trying to fix my fuck ups!!

I'm 680 gs and I literally cannot get passed LoML. Everytime I reinstall I do one tale and uninstall immediately. It's such a shit, forced and boring storyline that I doubt 90% of the playerbase cares about. I've been playing since the start and their lean into trying to craft a story almost a decade after the launch is so frustrating.
Can anyone explain to me why he freaka out about using 50 stacks on naru or tuvala gear? Using crons i get u should never do, but 50 stacks are worthless to me, or nearly worthless. Im swimming in them as is, and i could make one in a minute for minutes worth of silver... I dont get it, he freaked out harder over that then thw crons ffs
He doesnt even have his 530 running? Good hes not level 61 so that would be a complete waste. He already knows to save xp stuff til higher levels. Hes so much of a gigachad you cant even recognize it blue lol
BDO despite it's changes will still not be as popular like WOW and FF14.. and that's totally fine.
If I compare it to music.. theme park like WOW is like the pop genre.. while BDO is like metal or its subgenres that have a niche audience.
Pop music, most people will like it from the start... metal on the other hand, most people will judge it while some will fall deep into a rabbit hole.
Idk how p2w BDO is before but if you say it's p2w w/ it's current state right now.. then every MMO on the market is p2w as well.
Another thing is the combo system.. traditional MMO fans like Asmon is having a hard time pressing many inputs.. now add multiple systems and a punishing rng mechanics.. most people will quit from day one. Despite all this.. I'm still playing this game.. soon it will come out of beta XD.. just need to cope because BDO already ruined other MMOs combat for me.. yeah before BDO my main was GW2 and OSR.
The reaction to Waydots video just shows how bad the new player experience is and how bad of a job to game does at explaining all its systems while shoving all those upgrade materials in your face that you seemingly dont need at the moment cramming your inventory and encouraging mistakes like this and i think its seriously stupid for a game this old im a new player started last week and im lucky to have friends to help me but someone who starts fresh with no one to help them will have a bad time... and no players shouldnt have to go on youtube to learn to play a game its not the content creators job to teach new players to play dev are becoming lazier and lazier expecting other people to do their job and its really frustrating to see

Family name is so confusing as a new player. When I started I thought family name was just like a "personal guild name" for my characters and people would talk to me as my character name, because of it I named myself LISAISQUEEN (as a fan of lisa from blackpink). For the first 2 years everyone thought I was a girl by default till I changed it lol
