All damage taken (including traps) goes through the Damage Dealt table first, so when you took that water damage form the trap you should have checked each die individually on the table, instead of adding it up and taken the direct result. when you're backtracking you only make a Tension check and spend light, you don't make a Lair/Exit check. You rolled doubles on your Dodge check, though, so you should mark it for a potential skill up! The Stormbrand's "Infuse Weapon" Ability is a sustained one, which means you can do it outside of combat and keep it active, simply reducing your available Aether by the Ability's cost. Thanks for the video!
Those traps did feel kinda deadly! Ah yes, it really doesn't make sense for me to be doing a Lair/Exit check when I'm backtracking. Will correct these going forward! Thanks for pointing out the doubles on the dodge roll! Oh wow I can just leave Infuse Weapon activated, nice! I really like the way sustained Aether works. Super cool design!
Welcome to the hobby! I’ve personally been enjoying your early journey! Ker Nethalas is a brutal game, but very rewarding to see your character improve over time. Also: remember- as a solo tabletop roleplayer, be easy on yourself AND your character! It’s your game. Have fun with it!
Thank you very much for the welcome! Happy to hear you are enjoying it! Yes, it's brutal for sure. I love the risk vs. reward that comes with that, but certainly adds a bit to the learning curve! That is great advice! Certainly I want to do my best to play the game somewhat correctly 😅 But fun is why we are here and compared to my past experiences in video games, the possibilities for personal adjustments and preference are infinite. It's a really great thing about TTRPGs!
Thanks for recording these! One suggestion. You might consider putting these in a playlist. I, for one, tend to find playlists and just hit play and listen/watch througout the day. Given these aren't in playlists, once I finish one episode the next to play is a random video from other creators. Just a thought. Keep them coming!
Been thinking of getting the cards, so it was good to see them in action. One question about them though, how do you find the quality? Or would it still be 'better' to just print off the pages from the PDF? Otherwise, good video, fun watching someone learn the joy, and frustration (at times) that is the TTRPG hobby. 😁
@@JarethDuLac The quality is quite good. Hardly any difference from an actual pack of trading cards or playing cards. Just printing off the pages wouldn’t be so great imo, unless you printed them on card stock and maybe glued backs to them or laminated them. One downside of the cards is that you don’t get the full flavor text of the monster. Probably tarot sized cards would be the best.
@@JarethDuLac You don’t have to get all of them of course. I’d highly recommend the exploration / event card deck and the monster deck. The other decks - maps, loot, and masteries are more of a luxury, still nice, but yeah. I never did buy the maps deck
@@SeekersHollow Yeah, they are definitely a luxury item to pick up over time. Got to grab the Zines first. Because more KN content is always a good thing. 😂
