Right, I never heard of him until today and I am a huge fan of all kinds of comedians.
A lot of black people don't know of him because he has a more white audience. He has a very successful HBO stand up special and also hosted SNL. But at first he was in TV shows with predominantly white target audiences.

Jarod Carmichael is not funny to me. The idea that he would hire a film crew to document personal family issues is very disrespectful. He is entitled to do as chooses. But, attempting to shame or embarrass your parents or mother to accept something she is clearly not comfortable with. Any mental health professional would have advised him to live his truth, and for his self care/ protection, he may need to put distance between him and his family. His jokes were disgusting. But comedy is comedy, and if thinks that's funny, then so be it. He selective outrage against Dave Chapelle was unnecessary and misguided. Validation is about you and how you see yourself.
