True story..... I have an Aunt that had eleven (out of wedlock) children with eleven different fathers. We were never allowed to talk about it. Two of her sons are in prison and all of her daughters have multiple children (out of wedlock) with multiple baby daddies. She has one extremely successful "gay son" and he's the child she hates. She can except her other sons being in prison for decades. She can accept her daughters having all these kids and being on welfare. But, she can't except her intelligent, kind-hearted, successful son, because he's gay. SMH. She stop speaking to him 20 years ago. My Aunt is one of the most nasty, mean-spirited, ignorant women, I've ever known in my entire life 😢
My heart breaks for him. It's sad parents can't accept their children how they are.
Honestly good for the gay son, he doesn't have to support all those people. It hurts but we learn to live with it and choose our own families in the LGBTQ community.
....there are "LOTS" of people like that...Heteros' CREATE them + then...don't ACCEPT what THEY created.
Your terrible aunt and her rejection of her gay son is probably why he is so successful!
Just maybe this Mother feels that her son's choice in life is her fault -that it was something that she did or did not do for her son that lead him to the decisions that he has made and the life that he now leads. She may need help talking with someone that she can trust with her feelings. The love between a mother and son is not measurable. Let's not let either of them leave this world without an understanding of how they feel.

@TheAMW, I respect your opinion. However, I disagree because you should love your children unconditionally. I have friends who grew up in households that didn't approve of gays. They have children who are gay and have accepted them for who they are. I feel really sad for this young man that his parents are treating him like this.

If you watch the show - it’s a bit much. He uses his need for attachment and fear of abandonment to justify his infidelity, which is dangerous. It’s also clear that there is a lot of self work that needs to be done; away from the cameras. It does provoke some much needed conversations, to be fair, but it also makes me look at him completely differently.
His infidelity? Does he cheat on his partner?

@@gregXxoSunny is obsessed with monogamy and Catholicism. Non monogamy is not necessarily morally superior. It’s all about getting to a place where the person is honest about their beliefs and doesn’t feel required to sneak around or deceive.
I've heard the same critique about his show. He's brave for exposing so much but I worry he may regret this in the future. This show may also cause pain and strife within his family.

I watched the Rothaniel Special and then another special he did and you can see the difference….. the pain where he’s trying to conceal himself. He skirts around relationships being vague. And talks about he’s going through some things. He clearly got tired of pretending he’s someone other than who he is. It takes a minute for some people. And then in, Rothaniel he shows his vulnerability and it’s raw and you can see his emotions all over his face. It was quite beautiful to see someone being so open about his and his families journey. And you could see how cut up he was about his family and how they are “dealing” with him wanting to come out and be open about himself. I want to watch the show I just found it today. And it looks good and actually real for a reality show. I never came from a religious background but the men in my family were like how Whoopi Described, men are men and this is how a man is and should be. Get in line don’t do this /that etc. I will keep an open mind of the whole show. The whole at least you aren’t a murderer/rapist/Pedo, is triggering. But we shall see…….. As I like him tbh and at least he’s not editing himself to look like something he’s not. He’s showing I’m human and we are flawed but I’m showing me everything it’s refreshing.

"he's gay, but he's really nice" I had to call them out for saying that.
Also great that he called his mom out for equating being gay with being a murdered. As if she’s doing him a great favor by tolerating him, since it doesn’t seem she’s reached acceptance yet, let alone embraced him.

I don't see him as kind. Check out episode 3 "Friendship." He ghosted his best friend at his wedding! He was supposed to be his BEST MAN and just "didn't feel like going." And his underhandedness with his gal pal, Jessica. Shameful. He's selfish and narcissistic. But compelling to watch, I must admit.

I told my son, my only baby when he was 10 years old that if he was gay I would support him 100 percent. He said I'm not gay. I said that's cool, but if you were, just know that I'm in your corner. He's 14 now and has a girlfriend. I always to him that it's not what your outer shell looks like, It's about what your soul looks like. It's straight people out here that are total pieces of shhhhh! I watched his special on HBO and I liked it. I watched the first one or two series of his new show on HBO and it was really weird. Kind of grossed me out. Lots of body shots of him of him sucking on other men’s toes. It was a little over the top. I was hoping for it to be better.
