This motor home is exactly what the rock band, Poison used when they left the east coast for fame and fortune in LA around 86 or 87. Poison was the opening band in Baltimore, Essex actually for Wrathchild America, aka Shannon Larkin of Godsmack. Funny watching guys looking like girls coming out of Ken and Barbie's RV. That's what I see when I see these. Clean machine, man! Nice rig.

Cruzin Castles Sir, it was one of those nights that this happen. Things we have now to take pictures did not exist then, like cell phone cameras. Most times when we had warm up bands, we wouldn't know them until they appeared at the gig. Who knew "Poison" would be successful at that point in time. They were just some weird band who was carrying cardboard cut outs of sexy girls from their Ken and Barbie looking rig to use as stage props. The bass player Bobbi Doll ended up at my house that night because of a girl and next morning I drove him back to the Ken and Barbie machine so they could leave for California. That's the truth of it.

You know, I'll never understand why they stopped making these, or why people currently won't make something similar. It's the perfect size for someone wanting the "van life" that also wants to not feel so cramped. It gives just enough space for everything you'd want, and if you don't want it, you can renovate it to something you do want. And driving wise, it's not much different from driving around a van!

Sweet. Thanks for sharing. Reupholstering is a great idea. When you finish I'd love to see how it turned out. Most motor homes are just ugly boxes on wheels. This one is special. You are a very lucky guy. You got a vehicle that was made before the bean counters took over Detroit. Nothing made since then even comes close in terms of creativity and build quality. Just replace the old tiny microwave, put in some LED lights and a flat screen TV and smile. You're good to go. I'd recharge the AC though.

I lived full time in a 31 ft MH for 13 years. Great way to live. RVs are high maintenace so pay attention to wiring, keep everything lubed with pure silicone, seal leaks with RTV over clean surfaces, keep battery levels up and clean posts. use tie wraps to keep wiring from dangling, flush all tanks often and watch all tires critially as your life depends on them! Expect 6 to 10 MPG at best. Enjoy boondocking away from PEOPLE most of all. Enjoy!

Janice Adams We hope so, we definitely went smaller than we thought we would originally, but we believe we will be able to go to more of the places we would like to be.

It's a beauty, I've been looking at them on Craigslist for about a year now . I might get one this winter and fix it up .

Very cool rig, I like the paint scheme. I am starting my research into a GMC for my family and your video laid it out very well.

i nearly bought one of these, as a permanent home, but chose a 1972 Airstream Land Yacht "Sovereign" instead, which was amazing.....I loved it.

Very impressive with so many innovative features for a 1976!!! And love how airy it is with those Huge Windows! There is one in my neighborhood that has never moved… for years. May check it out… Great vid.

      Cruzin Castles Nice info!
No surprise there is a fan club; such a cool-looking RV.
I think its cream/light yellow, but will confirm the color next time I drive by & update you.

The one in my neighborhood is a Rialta RV, somewhat similar in appearance & size, but not what I thought.
There is a 1976 yellow 26’ Eleganza II for sale in Naperville, IL w/58k miles on it; too far for me to see at this time which the Gmcer you mentioned may consider: Seller’s Ph# 855-600-7750
I was focused on getting a Diesel-pusher, but yours got me rethinking!

Great find!! someone really took care of it!! * and I actually like the colors and plaid upholstery, simply because it gives it an old fashion retro feel that I like.

The previous owner took great care of this ahead of it's time capsule.
It appears that it has fallen into the right hands.
Nicest I've seen of any era. What a beauty.

I have the exact same RV. Mine doesn't look that good I'll admit. It's still all original. Including 16.5 inch tires. What size rems and tire's are on yours?

They are a well-made motor home buddy. Yours looks like it was taken care of. A lot of those 455's had 385 hp. and 365 and 280 hp. They put a higher lift cam in the 365 and 385 hp units. A great thing to do is put a set of chrome headers on the old gal and it will add quite a bit of hp to her. Chrome keeps longer before they rust out. Pack some grease in the ball bearings of the gen slide and pull it in and out every now and then and you will be glad you did. Nice outfit.
