  • In this video I bored, and honed a very overheated 4b Cummins to restore the cylinders then decked the top of the block because it was warped out of spec which is very common on an engine that has been hot. Thanks for watching!

I had 2 of those 4BT engines at one time. I was going to put them into my '53 International trucks. Figured they would fit the short engine bays nicely. But ultimately I ended up selling both of the engines because of how much vibration they had. They vibrate a lot more than the 6B engines. I ended up buying a gas 264 to replace the blown up 220, and I guess I will keep the original 240 in the other truck, because it is fine. Some day I would like to put a 6V53 into a '55 Chevy car. Yes I am an odd one. At least it will keep me from getting speeding tickets. Maybe not disturbing the peace tickets though. Some day dreaming. ----Doozer

If you ever do a perking that's been really hot, the holes in the block will distort so when you in stall the dry liners get thicker liners and bore it back round.

Sometimes rebuilder pistons have a shorter compression height, because it is assumed the block will be milled during the rebuild. That prevents people from having to find extra thick head gaskets.
