Flashlyrics Jenina Lyrics Summer sunshine's round dance, catch me with your radiance. I sometimes look back, feeling lonely. Among people accompanied by happiness on the crowded promenade, I search for my lost sentimentality. Since the day I began to forget the tenderness you gave me, wanting certain words, I chose only one person. The memories I tore out of my diary make a mosaic pattern in the blue wind. The red spotlight of the sun sets behind the buildings. In time when night creeps up, I'll be lonely. Janina of the sparkling summer, [if you're] held by sorrow, can shine brighter than yesterday, dear my happiness. Your eyes that couldn't believe in tomorrow completely were so sad [to see]. I want a chance to sacrifice even my life for one love. In the drama of the futile search for Shangri La, I dance the prima donna role alone.
With the great rise in interest of 1970s and 1980s city pop outside of Japan (and inside Japan as well) in recent years, let's wish that the city pop wave sweeps up Kanako Wada and Yuiko Tsubokura of Bubblegum Crisis singing fame, just as it has for Tatsurō Yamashita, Mariya Takeuchi, ANRI, Tomoko Aran, Toshiki Kadomatsu, Junko Ōhashi, and other Japanese music artists associated with city pop.
@@CorSmith94 I have mentioned Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO) and its founding members - Haruomi Hosono, Ryūichi Sakamoto & Yukihiro Takahashi - numerous times in many comments on diverse UA-cam videos. They have profoundly influenced & shaped global popular music since 1978, along with Japanese video game composers like Yūzō Koshiro - who highly influenced musicians & producers like superstar hip-hop and Jay-Z producer Just Blaze - Japanese house DJ Satoshi Tomie, the late electronic and space music pioneer Isao Tomita, Japanese music instrument makers Roland, Korg, Yamaha & Casio, etc. I've documented this, with sources, on UA-cam, Quora & elsewhere.
i've been listening to city pop for quite a while now but i never had heard of kanako wada before. would have never even had if it wasn't for kimagure. her music is definitely praiseworthy. like any other tracks for kimagure, this one's a banger too. but i personally prefer dance in the memories a bit more over this. happy to having found this but also feel bad at times because we don't even know how many good artists we are missing. i mean, we only luckily get to know of the ones that are on the internet. the rest are forgotten.
It's mostly cause most of them are from a genretion before the world wide web was a thing. Like not even dialup by phones was a thing yet. The way you had to be online is basically using a floppy disks to enter Geocity style programs that you enter like internet before the internet which is why some sites from Wayback Machine can only go back to 1997 or so cause this stuff much older sites are lost to time. Like you had to be there to understand internet culture was wild even back then. But like I was going to the comment on Japanese music stars. Most didn't think much of the internet being a big business even back then. They assume their music would only be find by fans either by CDs or even tapes. But as proven by time itself whenever the internet finds new songs from many years back basically becomes new again. Meh
@@NitwitsWorldeh? floppy disks are outdated, as they should be. meh. i don't see anything wrong with an older song popping up as new. why gatekeep and act as an elite, when clearly it has no benefits?
I sincerely think that's the kind of song that I'll never forget... The melody is so sweet, and strangely, every time that I listen to this wonderful song, a huge feeling of nostalgia overwhelms me.

Vaporwave and future funk artists helped popularize Japanese city pop in the West by often using remixed city pop samples. And vaporwave and future funk artists composed their music videos using short, looping anime clips visually, usually anime dating from the 1980s and the 1990s. Anime I see most often on future funk videos include Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, Maison Ikkoku, Macross, Dirty Pair, Sailor Moon, Gunsmith Cats, Bubblegum Crisis, Cowboy Bebop... and Kimagure Orange Road.
Thing is, even if future funk artists don't sample any Japanese music in specific videos, they will incorporate visually in these clips, illustrations, imagery, etc., from Japanese anime, manga, Japanese video games - even from Japanese live action TV series and movies. It's a Japanese/anime aesthetic, which has even spilled over into lo-fi and other music microgenres and subgenres.
