In general, spray paint isn’t safe for birds as it could expose them to several toxic chemicals and solvents so you should avoid spray painting the basin of a bird bath to avoid potentially contaminating the water used by the birds. I would remove the top, buy a new one, and only spraypainr the outside.
It is just beautiful. I think if I make this I will put some rocks in the top basket before I glue on the top just to make it a little heavier so it doesn't get blown over with wind as easy.
Thank You for this neat bird bath idea!!! I was hoping you wasn't going to paint the inside of the pan, where the birds will be drinking from. You can still keep the plastic pan attractive by keeping the inside of the pan unpainted (for the health & safety of the birds) by putting pretty colored rocks in the bottom of the pan or a cute ceramic figurine, both can be bought at DT.. Im going to make this and put it in a huge, plastic planter we have. Push it into the soil, as well as put some rock in the top pot. I'll plant flowers in the pot to give it a cool look, for the birds and bees.
When my cast iron skillets get rust on them I scrub them with a steel scrub pad and a tad of Dawn soap and dry with paper towel, then wipe it down with cooking oil & let sit for 2 or 3 minutes amd then completely wipe all the oil off with paper towel or a terry cloth until you can't get any more oil off cast iron (will look dry). The cast iron will absorb some of the oil and will keep it protected.

Isn’t the paint toxic??? I feel like the paint is fine as long as it doesn’t touch the water

🐦I just got on here to say the same, but wanted to see if someone else said it, first.. 🕊
Blessings 🌿
I was thinking the same. Very cool, cheap birdbath
The paint is toxic to the birds.😮
I was thinking same thing: that the toxic paint would harm any living thing in that water.
Probably not that bad.
yes you're right I have witnessed pigeons drinking out of sewers
I really love this. And the color you chose, is one of my favorites 😊❤
It's not good to paint water basins with toxic chemicals. Would you drink water from that? Poor birds.😢

Outstanding! Just what I wanted to know. Awesome, beautiful video. Subscriber from NW FL. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom.
This is adorable 🥰. Do you know if the paint is safe for birds after it dries?
A must try for me love it very pretty!

Everyone who is concerned about the chemicals in the 🎨paint, my nephew painted the base of a cast iron bird bath that was rusting.

I love it. It was very easy.
😁 super easy and cute!

I'm definitely trying this. I'm so tired of concrete bird baths that fall over and break. They are too expensive!
