    TYSM for posting these videos! I'm from Mississippi & I'm starting my position as a personal shopper in less than 2 days. I've been nervous as hell to start for the past week since this is my first job ever & I have bouts of social anxiety but after watching your content, I think I might have fun doing my job & easing my nervousness at the same time ✨

      @@imtired5401Hope everything has worked out for you and wish you the best as well ✨ I've been working in OGP for over a year and some change now and honestly, it was been a wild ride LMAO. To sum it up best, the job has definitely taught me a lot both in general and even about myself as well. As for the social anxiety part, I find that it has decreased a lot tbh and that happens with the more you talk to customers and your coworkers as well. There is definitely a lot more I can say about the job but I don't really have the energy to fully go into detail about it for rn lol. But I will say that overall, it's a pretty okay job

    FYI be careful on late lunches. Some stores are picky about taking your lunch after the 6 hour mark. Check with your store before doing this. You could receive some type of disciplinary action if you take your lunch 1 minute after the 6 hour mark.

      Usually the people who do bulk like this run a store themselves. You would be surprised at how many coffee shops, convenient stores etc buy at Walmart for their products in their stores or use. Mom and pop type stores mainly. Have a good bit who do in our area.

      Same here, I might end up losing my position because I’m slow at it. I’m new as well and have been two weeks into it and still don’t know how to get as fast as the others. They don’t require us to look in the back rooms for the items anymore which is good and saves time but my supervisor is really picky with us to be faster at picking. He had me train for a few days but said I should’ve gotten faster by now. We need to be at least two hours ahead for picking. My supervisor even came up to me and said the rate I’m going is not looking to good and might consider me looking into another position. I wouldn’t call it threatening me out of my position but that’s how it feels. This is stressing me out on how the hell am I supposed to be faster? Do I need to talk faster or pick faster such as accuracy? What is the trick to get it done fast when your out picking items?

    I might end up losing my job position because of low performance and being slow. I’m a new employee but I’m passed my training time and according to them I should be faster with my picks by now. I still don’t understand how am I supposed to be fast when I have other variables at play. I have customer asking for help constantly and I have trouble maneuvering my tote cart around through busy isles. They want us to do at least 100 items an hour which seems like a lot to me and stay at a constant 100+ score on the pick rate. This is stressing me out when the job shouldn’t be this stressful. Any ideas or tips to get faster? I don’t wanna lose this position because of it being higher pay compared to other positions and it’s relatively an easy job but I have management constantly breathing down my neck to be faster at picking.

  • @michaelbest7872
    @michaelbest7872 2 роки тому +3

    200+ pick rates? That is NOT the norm or what's happening at My store! Most of us our between 100 and 150. Many of us are below 100. NO ONE really is above 200. I've seen someone be over 200 once. I wondered how and why. They weren't walking faster than me or anyone else? I only contribute that to multiple single items being picked. Meaning if the walk has items that the customer wants multiples of, then the pick rate seems to be higher. On another video of yours, you mentioned something about stopping the time during a pick walk ? I would like to share that with my co-workers. Is that insider information, or is that in the One Best Way? Either way, that's great advice and information. Thanks.

    • @buckeyefan1426
      @buckeyefan1426 Рік тому

      You get the best pick rates if you find all items, move quickly. Ambient or chilled you can get a high pick rate. If MTOs are ready to pick up go get them.

    • @michaelbest7872
      @michaelbest7872 Рік тому +2

      @@buckeyefan1426 Different walks alter pick rates. Like you mentioned, Ambient or Chilled gets a higher pick rate. General walks, Electronics, Unknowns result in one's pick rate dropping, because it takes more time to get to those areas and/or find items / wait for associates to unlock cases, etc. I'm not necessarily concerned about the pick rate though. The poster of this video just suggested there is a way to stop the time, during a pick walk. The first time Pick % is more important than how fast one walks. I'm sure you agree?

    • @buckeyefan1426
      @buckeyefan1426 Рік тому +1

      @@michaelbest7872 I do agree! I’ve noticed on my first pick walk I can get 262- 228 then after that I’m at 148-118 it 98 lol
      I’m honestly not worried about pick rates. Just the accuracy

    • @michaelbest7872
      @michaelbest7872 Рік тому +2

      @@buckeyefan1426 I wish there is a way for the Associate (ME) and others / Pick Walker to see their first time pick rate %, instead of how fast they completed their pick walk! THEN, I believe, associates would pay attention more ! ? Also, Larisa shared some information about halting a pick time, during a walk. Like when one is helping a customer find something. I would still like to know how that's done (what buttons to press, and swipe, and how to get back on the walk, thus time starts again), as she suggests! ?
      Because time is emphasized in a pick walkers mind, some could choose certain pick walks that would give them a better pick rate! I've noticed that some did that ( me included, I admit ). That threshold of 100 is still something I achieve and want to keep achieving, because THAT is the expectation. If I don't, on a certain day, I hope management understands why, based upon walks. Maybe they do understand?
      Also, I'm guessing that many that believe that the pick walk TIME makes them look good, or better than others, right! In reality, fast times don't make the person more valuable. They were just lucky or smart enough to choose such a walk that is available to get them the faster rate! I'm guessing those pickers don't think management already knows this!?
      For me, I'm usually working exceptions. When exceptions are generally caught up, which is rarely in my store right now, I jump into a pick walk, because I don't like doing nothing, or don't like standing still, and / or when I know we are behind or overdue.
      Now, walks are auto assigned, as you know. People can no longer just choose the walk they like or skip ahead to a further time. I like this auto assigning! It makes sense. Most don't or haven't liked this auto signing walks thing. I'm thinking they will, eventually. It focuses on the percentage more, and not the time (while time is still important). Those that are lazy, should and may learn to like this more, I'm thinking! In another way of thinking, I hope the lazy don't think their time is no longer considered!!!
