I'm not sure how much changed since I left 2 years ago. But I worked in OGP dispensing and that shit was hell compared to picking. Constantly understaffed and getting bitched out by customers because we were backed up, dealing with shit the pickers fucked up, dealing with 13+ tote orders, missing items, customers mad about the substitutions they received, people coming outside of their timeslot.. Sometimes when we're pulling out orders we'd hit a crack and the totes would come tumbling down. Never again lol.
Don’t get me wrong we do have days like that but it’s not every single day thankfully lol
Same! I’m still at OGP for 6months now. I’m a very optimistic guy when it comes to work that’s why they keep me at the back room; certified dispenser. I can’t even do picking because not everyone can handle dispensing, so they let me stay and enjoy the hot weather of Arizona 😫
I definitely do prefer picking most days but I do mostly end up dispensing, since I posted this video I have been stung by a wasp twice and a bee once while dispensing within a week from each other 😄 and I am not a fan
@Red Escobar dispensing is pretty much putting customers orders in their car
Dispensing in my store is a nightmare my dispense room has no ac when it’s 90 degree weather it gets very tiring and our dumb coaches and team leads implement dumb rules to torture us like “no standing” which is when we were caught with no movement they go and start bitching to us and threaten to write us up they don’t care if it’s 100 degree weather leaning against the wall is also like a war crime to them
That sounds horrible I am so sorry, thankfully my store isn’t like that at all
We also get bitched at for just standing against the wall for a minute. No ac in the back room constantly moving, team leads that go off to roam wherever in the store. Then pop in to butch at us for stupid stuff. But it’s okay for them to go sit in the break room all day. Talking on the phone or watching a movie 😏
The Walmart that you see all over the news is the one I worked at
It's subjective to where you work but that's retail for you. You're not allowed to sit and you need to look productive. Theyre not all like that but this is very common with retail.

Thank you .. this is exactly what I do every work day at my Walmart. Dispensing , which contains versatile activities, is more difficult and stressful than picking. I like it though.

Finished my first week and I love shopping vs staging it’s a lot to learn on the TC with ambient and all that stuff but overall I love it
Hopefully I start this week , just waiting for my background check. You took a lot of my stress away as far as what ill be doing. Most videos on yt just show the Pickers. Now I only have to worry about the 110° heat ill be working in. 😡

Would you recommend this position/working at walmart as a college student? I plan on having 2-3 classes per semester.
Yes I would, they are very flexible with hours and scheduling
Is this the same as online order filling ? It sounds like it from the job descriptions but I wasn't sure. If its not the same, at your store do you know the starting pay of order filler ? :)

Yes! It gets called different things
Are employees that dispensing delivery order able to pick and choose the drivers or do they just hit a button that the order needs picked up and the system does that?
The system does it, unfortunately because the delivery company is third party we don’t really have much power with delivery.
@@savannahjackson5583 Oh ok. I was just curious cause, I deliver for Spark and sometimes it seems like there are drivers getting favored even though I do my best to be respectful and helpful to employees and customer.

Honestly over all I do like it, it’s really not that difficult. Closing every night can get a little bit exhausting. A few cons with this job are when we are really understaffed and behind on picks I have to send customers home empty handed and they have to come back the next day and when people call complaining about delivery (some people will swear at you and scream at you even though it is 100% out of your control) but that’s honestly it for me. I give it a 8.5/10

Don’t be hard on yourself on the first day and give the job a chance. If you don’t like dispensing try the picking part!
@@savannahjackson5583 Thank you! I just did my first day today and they let me do the picking on my own only got an hour of training so I was confused where stuff was at first. 🤣 but other than that what is the easiest to do for picking for starting out?
@@codycoleman2271 Did you find out what the easiest thing (commodity?) to start picking is?! I start this week!
@@jaredskeen6986 I would say frozen would be the easiest to start out with. It’s usually in the right place and helps pick rate a lot! Second easiest commodity for me personally would be ambient. You’ll get to learn where everything is pretty quick so don’t worry you’ll do great!!

Is there a certain amount of totes or orders to accomplish per shift? Or just as much as you can do? and what is an estimate
Orders drop every hour until 6pm, the goal is to finish picking all of them by the end of the night. There is not a necessary amount you have to have picked by the end of your shift. There is a pick rate which is how many items you pick per hour the goal is to have 100 items picked per hour but honestly just do your best!
i just got hired, and said that i was a temporary associate ? is there anyway i'll be staying for a good long time
I didn’t personally run into that but I know that sometimes companies will offer a temporary position to see how your work ethic is and if they like you for the job and then offer you a permanent position. That’s what TJ MAXX did when I worked there.

They aren’t heavy at all in my opinion but it does depend on what items you put in the pick carts, the only time they are difficult to push around is if it is broken other then that they aren’t difficult at all to push.

Yes it is!
The dispensing, picking and packing are all OGP . It goes by different names which is confusing but you learn everything. It’s either online grocery associate, personal shopper or online order filling.

I work in the apparel department at Walmart and I’m part time at Walmart and I love doing the apparel department at Walmart and it’s kind of fun and sometimes I can wear different shirts but I wear pants not leggings only can wear leggings at back room but not in apparel department at all but I don’t where else on the floor in the store at Walmart the different department in the Walmart Store can wear different clothes but not in the apparel department
do you have any tips for someone starting in apparel? i start next wednesday and i was also told by my team lead that their apparel associates help out with Online Order Filling and cover Jewelry too sometimes

Yes you do but it isn’t all the time, the phone calls are usually customers saying they are gonna be late picking up or wanting to know where there delivery order is

Is it pretty easy?
For the most part yes, you will have an occasional rude customer or be super busy with not enough staff but in my opinion it isn’t hard
