Ok, so heres my rant.
I think the reason Jervis was so possessive and all around weird about Alice was because he lost his parents. He didn't want to loose Alice, and over time his possessiveness turned into an addiction. He didn't want to loose someone close to him again, and over time that became the center of his life, driving him crazy.
