Just wanted to cover this song 'cos it was catchy and had been playing in my head for years - I didn't realise it was all about a tragic incident in the USA that some Canadians felt strongly about (?!?!) until a few weeks ago. Drum wise, I think I got it mostly right. So, the original was drummed live by the awesome don't-waste-a-beat Bill Berry. It was a lot of fun to drum - thank you Bill and all the professional musicians who produced the original.
As for my humble set up …drums tuned by Genesio and equipment advice from Paco. The boys at Better Music ...well, they're just better - google'em!! Recording: the Control Room (CR) signal from the Mackie desk is sent to a Sony HD-MVR camera - the 120° lens (wide angle) makes everything look bloated - but captures almost all the equipment. Sound processing: ...acoustic Maple-Walnut hybrid shell drums mixed/equalised on a Yamaha MG20XU mixer desk with 7 Shure drum mics (no FX used); play along song on an ol'Dell laptop - Yamaha mixer desk and laptop feeding into my li'l Mackie mixer desk, monitored from the Mackie on a pair of Beyerdynamics headphones via a Behringer headphone amp. Drums, cymbals and sticks: ...ye trusty ol'Mapex Saturn V shell kit, Remo heads + Ludwig Supralite 14" x 5.5" steel snare standard Ludwig head + RTOM Black Hole mufflers on all drums + Sabian Quiet Tone cymbals, with Vic Firth's American Classic Extreme 5B sticks - for a change.
