I love the build up to this fight after defeating Death when the candles light up one after another leading to Dracula, as if he’s telling Simon, “You want me so badly? Right this way then…”
More like "you've earned the right to face me." You know Dracula by name, everyone does, but you've never seen him up to that point in the game, so it just builds that anticipation even more, like you KNOW who's song that is from the intro, you know who calls you without a single word. THAT is how you build mystique
Dracula’s gonna be communicating to Simon telepathically or something: “You’ve done well, fool. Just proceed through this hallway, I’m waiting for you…”
This game has ridiculously heavy atmosphere, especially for a SNES action game with no dialogue. I haven't seen this level of moodiness in any game since.
One of the best final boss fights in all the castlevanias. I like how every one reuses, and reimagines the stairs up to the castle. The moon the background.

Playing this game for the first time, in January 1992, completely obliterated my expectations of what I had been expecting from it. 31 years later, the game can truly be called one of the greatest of all time.
This is epic incredible music for a Dracula encounter, the best of the series maybe. The music makes it. It’s still amazing when those torches light one by one on the way to Drac’s staircase
I was born in 1985 so this WAS my childhood! One of my favourite games ever. Always played it, and I’ve never understood why they never used this theme again for Dracula in later games
Finalmente la batalla final se librará entre el bien y el mal, el héroe, tras haber hecho frente a grandes desafíos y poderosos adversarios, se halla en frente del aposento de su más odiado enemigo, llegó el momento de enfrentar, su destino.
After watching the Castlevania series and revisiting this song, I find this truly captures the soul of the character: The battle against a tired, depressed, and powerful entity who wants it to end one way or another. Edit: rewatch the Alucard vs Dracula fight to this song for context
Wrong. This is the song of a battle against a deprived creature who has abandoned humanity and projected his flaws onto the souls of the innocent, and plans to engulf the world into darkness so he can enjoy his misery. Dracula is a character who endulges in hatred and sin, not a poor little sympathetic science man as the show portaits him.
Even if you think Super Castlevania 4's OST is forgettable (won't hold that against ya. It be your opinion), you can't deny the instrument choice and quality is way above any early SNES game or even most SNES games in general.
Act Raiser, Super Ghouls and Ghosts and Super Contra all hit with soundtracks that quickly redefined 16 bit audio very early in the SNES lifecycle. The Sega Genesis was quickly outshined. Very few Sega 16bit era games have soundtracks worth revisiting.
@@alastairmcgetrick2145 i think the soundtrack alone is a masterpiece and I loved the game I don't know why a lot of reviewers stated the ost to be forgettable

Before Kefka, before Sephiroth, before Magus, there was good ol' Drac.
It said it all
Revisiting this theme for the final battle is pure genius.
In a game I loved from start to finish, it might be the best moment.
and then switching to simon's theme once you start beating dracula is even geniuser
Actually if you listen carefully this version is slightly faster in pace than the one in the opening crawl.
