I almost bought the SE released in 2020, because I wanted the smaller size and the nice price. And then I came *really* close to buying the 12 Mini, but decided to wait a year and hope the next mini would have TouchID. The 13 Mini doesn't have TouchID, but I did buy one and I'm *very* happy I waited that extra year!

The mini never sucked. As good as some of you tech reviewers are, why do none of you ever seem to get it?!
The mini is for people that still use their phones, AS A PHONE! They don’t use it as a gaming device or as their main camera. They dont care about a larger display or a 120 refresh rate. They use it to make phone calls, send some messages and email and listen to some music here and there. So the 12 mini was fine. And now the 13 mini is even more fine.

I got a 13 mini, upgrading from a XR and I‘m loving it! And there are a ton of people who really appreciate the smaller form factor and fell in love with the 13 mini! The mini already has a big fan base and rightfully so!
Those big Pro Max phones are just heavy, you need an extra bag to schlepp them around…! 🙈 Nah, will never touch such a paddle!
Maybe I will also get the iPad mini 6 to add to the mix and for media consumption at home and managing my smart home. That should be the ideal solution! 😌
I really do hope that Apple will consider keeping the mini and maybe come out with a Pro version of it one day! 💪👑👍

@@josephsiradanai3925 That would be wasted! On such a small device you wouldn’t see the difference. Besides, on iPhones, 60hz already feel like 90hz on other devices! They are already very smooth!

This review is excellent. I want to add I also tested the 13 Pro line against the 13 Mini. I came away with the opinion the 13 Mini is a game changer in its form factor and power delivery. After testing the 13 Pro and Pro Max for a week, they both felt like obese underachievers compared to the 13 mini. Honestly the 13 mini feels so much more impressive as a flagship in its performance and size. It’s a game changer. Streaming a movie like Pandora on Disney+ was very immersive but the loud clear sound of the stereo speakers is incredible for a phone twice it’s size. My battery life test only yielded the 13 Pro 5% more over the 13 Mini at the end of the day still leaving plenty of power left. (40% vs 35%) at the end of a full day of use. 13 Mini 512gb in starlight/white for the win for me. There is not a phone on the market that is this small and portable yet a monster in power and performance. The 13 Mini is the “rock star” of the this years line up.
Did you have equal amount of screen on time when you did the battery test?
The 13 mini has great battery life. Mine has never reached 20%.

The 13 mini red looks gorgeous. I’m so happy they finally made a new Product Red edition that’s actually red; last year’s pink/salmon color was the worst red edition yet.
The iPhone 13 mini fixed many of the problems that plagued the iPhone 12 mini, especially the shorter battery life. In fact, I think the new iPhone SE model will essentially be the iPhone 13 mini but with a larger power button for Touch ID on the button and a small "punch hole" for the front-facing camera.
I think the next SE will be a XR or 11 with newer components. Definitedly not 13 mini, not even 12 mini
The se for the last 2 generations has been the previous generations smaller chassis and general design and updated chip with not as good battery life as the flagship. If they change their direction and use an XR it will not be smaller than the 13 regular. Chances are it will be the mini based on past decisions. But the se mini will prob only happen when the new form factor is introduced (iPhone fold) like the two previous se generations did.
@@Joesizzle442344 The SE has only been smaller because they have had used older desings which coincidentially have been smaller. I still believe it will be a XR or 12. Look at the current SE, its as outdated form factor as it can be. Thats why i think it will be a XR/11

This makes me so glad I waited an extra year for the 13 Mini. The leaks for a pink color certainly helped as well 😂 I absolutely love mine. I jumped from my 1st gen iPhone SE of 4 yrs by the way, so the major upgrade feels absolutely spectacular.

I want to trade my 12 pro for the 13 mini. The 12 is too big for my hand. I prefer the smaller size phone.
I say go for it. I went from a standard 12 to 13 mini because of the size, and I love it. Being able to use a phone with one hand again is so nice.

Upgraded to the 13 mini from a 6S, which I had for about 6 years, and then a 12 mini, which I had for a month. Everything about the 13 mini is way better-to me!! Really like the smaller format and enhanced capabilities. Also considering that it’s likely the last year of the mini.

I'm upgrading from a very old 6s too, who's battery life is cactus. Had it for 6 years too. Coming from a 6s, any upgrade would be a game changer, but the mini will be so nice.

Such a shame that there won’t be a mini next year! Love my mini with its size and performance. That ProRes in the Pro line is very enticing BUT i would stick with my mini. Ow I wish we have a pro line for the mini!
Yeah I wish they made even a smaller one. Call it something like a Pro Nano, outside dimensions from iPhone 4 but with specs from the pro line, full screen display, triple camera, ProRes, CPU/GPU, memory etc.
It’s a good time to buy a mini if you love small iPhones

The Product Red 13 Mini is my favorite iPhone Apple’s ever made. It’s the perfect size, perfect shade of red, and is a monster in performance and has an incredible 1080p OLED display.
I’m glad you mentioned the reception issue with the 12 mini. I’ve had a lot of dropped and choppy calls and data issues with my model. I love the size and the 13 mini will be a no brainer for an upgrade but I’ll need to pay this win off before I get to that point or wait for a good sale

That would suck. I would rather have an official mini version of the latest phone. SE means we will get the old designs. The only thing we would get is the latest chip which isn’t always good for battery life.

I have been waited for the smaller phone since years then finally replaced my iPhone XS by 13 mini.
Its best phone i had ever, 5.4" is still big enough screen to write emails, posts on socials and watching YT videos or gaming. No more larger phone ever if possible.
It lays in pocket perfectly no matter you're in work or on sport activities like running or biking, and completely no issues with battery working time - one day of very active up to two days when i am not using phone a lot.
If you want a phone, buy an iPhone mini. If you want a bigger display, buy an Ipad mini 6!

@@vinodlakshan200 after 5 years of owning the 7 plus and one battery change, the 13 mini is pretty good compared to it. Ive been using it quite a lot over the past few days and i end up putting it to charge over night at 10%. Get around 5:30-6:30 screen on time. I have it for 3 days so we'll see how it goes. But yeah, one day battery life is ok

UGH thank you so much this was such a good review it took me a while to find a video that covered everything in detail that i could understand lol.
I think it’s because of the smaller chassis so that the speaker feels weaker in the mini. 13 has larger chassis so there is more room for the sound to vibrate through the phone making it louder.

Before I got the 2020 SE, I was considering the 12 mini, 11 and the SE. I ended up getting the se because of the price and internals and I was transferring from the old se but 6 months later, I really want to just change my phone to a 13 mini because of the size, battery and just because it is an overall better phone and has amazing value for money. I plan to save a bit and buy it within the next 6 months or at least when the prices drop after the 14 releases.

I am using Linux Desktop primarily for programming, while also have been testing macOS in VM, enjoying watching UA-cam videos about M1 MacBooks and I would love to get my hands on Macbook 14 :), Unix, Optimised OS, Boosted ARM chip, Great battery; Unrivaled Laptop for programming.
I've got one only for the size thinking I'd probably have to send it back and get a bigger phone with a bigger screen and a bigger battery. I was wrong. Even the battery is great.
I hope there will be a mini 14 so I don't have to go around with a brick in my pocket next year

Yes, I have the iPhone 12 mini atm and reception can be pretty bad at times. I get through most the day, but the battery life isn’t good for the price you pay for the phone.
I never thought the reception would be a reason to upgrade but damned the iPhone 13 mini has amazing reception. I hated the reception on my iPhone 11 Pro and I decided to upgrade and omg I am loving it!

I'd appreciate a phone that can be used exclusively with one hand and now that the 13 mini has everything on board it's actually a no brainer, plus it's less expensive than the bigger 13's.

Just got my 13 mini yesterday. Upgrading from a 8Plus. So much more pocketable. A little strange going back to a smaller phone, but I have multiple devices including a iPad Pro if I want to watch video. Impressive little phone.
I have a 12 pro max, but at first I tried to get the 12 mini my carrier didn’t have it in stock though so I was forced to go with the pro max. When the 13 mini came out and I seen it was in pink, I had to have it I went on BackMarket I had to find it somewhere. I absolutely love it!!! I still have my ProMax, but my mini is my daily driver.
it sure is hard to find speaker comparison, thanks for the effort put in, i wanted to know for sure the speaker difference between 13 mini and 13 normal but its not that big just abit deeper, quarity is about the same, about the 5g antena thanks for testing it it means alot knowing its reliable, same for the charging speed with wire, im swaping the SE i brought last year to the 13 mini because i found it unreliable during outside job where its extremly bright im sweating alot and can't see in display or open the phone to answer calls having to run to shadow each time and wiping my phone 3 times a day just to acess it during break sucks, battery of SE was not an issue with me it was just depleting at an abornamal rate if i leave it overnight not charging i lose 30% or more overnight, and i started charging it each night i need to use it the next day, unless i game on it it lasts me a full day, gaming eats battery from 100% to 30% and under within 2hrs and half i learned many things by using it but i think its time to swap, old components are starting to feel its 5 yr old age i had few crashes during apps and games having just new processor won't solve the issue.
Upgrading, and downgrading? I guess from an XS max to 13 mini. not sure how the battery is gonna be but im trying to use electronics less so hopefully if it's not as good it'll help me

Agree completely - the 13 Mini is by far the best all-around value. I upgraded from an 8, and love the improved camera and battery life. The default storage of 128GB is also a huge upgrade. (Went for the new dark green, which is a color I won't mind looking at for the next 5-6 years.)
I'm still with iphone 8 and touch ID to unlock the device. I wonder if face recognition on i13 mini works well to unlock while wearing a mask (which is quite the new normal look in public area). Any thoughts from regular i13 mini users? thanks
I think that if they discontinue the regular 12+13 and SE and only keep the Mini, Pro and Pro Max and make iPhone 11 $400 that would be the best option.

I just replaced my iPhone SE gen 1 from 2016 with the 13 mini. Compared to my old phone, the 13 mini still feels a little big. I thought about returning it for the 12 mini because it’s slightly thinner and lighter than the 13 mini. However, this video has helped convince me to keep the 13 mini. I’m in the minority that likes small phones. The iPhone 5/SE form factor was and still is the best phone size for one handed use.
Also double the base storage.
I saw the 13 mini and I thought wow I think I would love that I currently have a XR so I ordered one and they came in the mail Friday and I set it up for the life of me that phone was way too small for me it was hard for me to read it was hard for me to use the keyboard. I guess I’m used to 6.1 screen like my XR so I’m sending it back and get me a regular iPhone 13. It just suits me better.

I went from a 7 to an 11 and have hated the size of the 11 for the past 2+ years. Its just too big for me, yes its nice works etc, but I prefer a smaller size. Today I "upgraded" to the 13 mini, cannot wait for it to arrive next week!

I think the perfect size for a mini phone is the 5.8 inch or maybe a 5.6 inch size. I think it would also be good if they kept the 5.4 inch size but made it wider.
It wouldnt be very mini but it would sell much better. I think the mini should have had the body size of the SE, not smaller

I actually like the width of the 13 mini. It’s the widest an iPhone can go that maintains the ability to type on the keyboard with one hand. Although, I wouldn’t mind if the display is slightly taller than it currently is.

I have the 12 Mini. Battery was a big letdown. Now I have the 13 Mini - basically the same phone, but with somewhat better battery. Not that much better, but this time almost there. That means the battery pack still has a use… but fortunately a bit less need for it. Overall, since you cannot find good enough Android offers in the “mini” category (the ones that exist have such dismal battery that they are not even worth looking at) you are seeing here a great move from Apple- I am all in for it.

I love how they always playback hdr videos and test hdr. To me this display segment is really important, unlike other youtube channels only talk about 120hz refresh rate like it's the only thing worth mentioning.

I don’t get it. All your “modem” tests were done over Wi-Fi… There wasn’t any signal showing for cellular. It looked like they didn’t have SIMs in them. Am I missing something?

I bought an iPhone 11 right before COVID became a thing. I already hated Face ID and the mask wearing made it even worse so I changed my 11 for the SE when it came out and have been very happy with it but I'm not satisfied with the battery. So I might change it for a 13 mini whenever I can but I still hate Face ID and we're still wearing masks. Also Thank you for comparing the SE to the 13 mini. Been looking for this on many videos here on UA-cam.

I just got a 13 Mini 256gb Red and traded S20 ultra and boy i just can’t imagine that a 2.4k mah battery has the same screen on time as the S20 Ultra (5k mah battery)

I bought an SE 2020 from Costco for $360.
The battery life is terrible if you video conference or take 4K videos.
I could have bought the 12 mini last year for $700 but the SE was nearly 1/2 the price.
This time the 13 mini from Costco is $630 with double the storage of my SE. But darn, that's still nearly double the price of my SE.
I hope Apple sale an iPhone mini Pro.
I wish they made a even smaller Pro Nano, outside dimensions from iPhone 4 but with all the specs and cameras from the Pro.

Exactly! The 13mini screen is taller than SE screen but a little bit narrower. So if you turn the phones to ”landscape position” and watch a 16:9 video you will not get larger picture on the Mini.
I'm switching from the pixel 4a over to the mini.
