l A to Z Alpacas is in Alberta Canada! Its my dad's farm and he has almost 300 alpacas! We shear the alpacas (no harm done! Just a haircut) each year and make really soft, warm and beautiful alpaca yarns and socks, bedding and more! Check out our etsy shop! www.atozalpacas.etsy.com and homepage www.atozalpacas.com
I post on Facebook often and Instagram as well look me up! @atozalpacas
Here is the link to my playlist - hit loop and watch alpacas run, play, mate, fight, explore, and just be. Alpacas are so fun to watch and a peaceful life most don't get to experience so I enjoy sharing little bits of my heaven with you.
    Thanks for watching!

ak p So would you be if you were a new born prey animal & a group of predators had surrounded you because they smelled the blood & afterbirth on you. The Siamese was trying to work out how to break the skin so he could start opening his flesh. He wasn't playing. She should have shut the Siamese in the next room instead of letting him wrap himself around the Alpaca's neck embedding his fully extended claws into him & biting his neck. Rebekah....while I understand what your saying, I think your ideas and comment about Siamese cats being a quote “very nasty and spiteful species of cat” must surely be based purely on your own one to one experience with said breed. Which is a great shame. I have had 16 Siamese cats over the years, all different temperaments and personality’s just like humans , but never nasty or spiteful. Your giving them a really bad name saying that here, which I don’t feel is right. In fact the cat in this film may even have been a Tonkinese!
The main fact is that yes, it could smell the blood and afterbirth,as well as a different furry species, which stimulated its instincts/senses. The problem was the lady filming should have stopped the interaction with all the cats and dog when they got too intrusive for the baby, but she was carried away with what she felt was amusing to film and use to show us. So perhaps when she reads our comments she will think hard in future and spend more time warming the new born up cuddling and reassuring until she can get it to its mum. Warm mother’s milk in his tummy was what he needed most. I do hope any future meetings with Siamese or any cats will be more pleasant for you! .. Best wishes. 🙂🎄🎄☕️

Get a life, we also raise alpacas and if you think the cats were being mean ,you should see what the big alpacas do if it tried to feed on someone other than it’s mom. It is extremely rare for another alpaca to feed someone that is not theirs, but they do babysit, protect them from predators etc, but they can be quite crewel to orphans. We have often had babies in our house and believe me once warmed up they can defend themselves quite well, my fear watching this was that the baby would lash out with a hoof and you would have had a badly injured cat.

This has really upset me. The poor baby needed warmth and to feel safe. Food if it was going to be too long before reunion with the mother. That's not necessarily guaranteed. The cat was using the newborn as a scratching post. I list my cat today 5 years ago. She was a rescued farm cat. I would never have let her hurt and frighten the baby. Instead of filmic you should have been attending to the baby. Those first few moments are critical to the babies survival. The baby was afraid being a prey animal and no mother around to protect. So that was your job. It seems humans are more interested in being on UA-cam than helping others in distress, please reconsider your actions so as to be more considerate and supportive in the future to the lives you are responsible for.

I have seen enough babies born and sometimes rejected.
      To recognize fear.
I can appreciate to some it may appear to be harmless. But when you have just emerged into an alien world and your instinct is to survive and take milk straight away and your mother isn't there, you are scared. She is your protection and your immediate sustenance to survive. Suckling is immediate to warm up and recover from the shock of birth. So if a predator comes along you can make a run for it.
Cats and dogs are predators. This prey animal baby, instinctively knows that. You can see the baby trying to move her/ his head out of the way, to avoid being caught by the throat and killed.
The baby is too cold, exhausted and frightened to run away.
I'm sorry if you cant see this. If you are responsible for other species you need to he more empathetic .

Everyone who is worried about the cat claws on the alpaca, if the alpaca was feeling pain, it would be jerking away, but it does nothing. I think it's unlikely the claws were hurting it, although I do think she should have stopped it sooner. It was cute at first that the cat thought his neck was a scratching post, but it went on way too long, imo.
And the animal does seem to be shivering and they are not drying it off quickly enough, although, I suppose they have to be able to handle it in the wild normally, but then all the adults who might normally provide shelter and warmth for the young have been shorn, so I don't know.

Something else I just thought of. Humans find shivering very uncomfortable, both the shivering and the cold that induces it, but it may be the case that for many animals the shivering is Not uncomfortable and is just normal for them. Would need an expert to chime in on this.

In the second part of the video, it looks like the other baby you helped is showing you 'see I can do it! Thanks for helping me!❤'

NOT a good idea to have Alpaca around the cats.
