The amount difference of earning of FH and Uni students is very negligible. Safe to say that as long as you are skilled and the company wants to hire you, you'll get the same amount whether you are an FH or Uni graduate :)
I don't know the system in Germany. But people who go to a FH in the Netherlands are usually slightly cheaper. And have more practical experience, so there tend to be more companies willing to hire you. Not saying that the TU is bad, but if you go to the TU, you very likely will end up at a multinational here where you do more complex stuff. So, both have their advantages. But it mostly boils down to who you as a person are.
Bharat you are a godsend. Anything I need to know about in regards to Germany you always seem to have it ready! Thank you for all the super useful and relevant information regarding higher studies in Germany.
I am going to finish my Masters in Embedded System from a Hochschule with in 2 months. In Germany, it doesnot matter whether you study in Hochschule or University or Technical University for getting job. The only things that matter most is which skillset do you have and how they match with the Industry. For example embedded system is a hot cake in Germany now so from my department i have seen almost 100 percentage of people are getting job after completing the Masters. In most cases within 6 to 8 months. on the other side, people getting top class degree from TU are unemployed and sometimes go back to their country because that course does not match with the job market ,for example power system Engineering. Again , German skills, technical knowledge, programing skill, internship, thesis topics many things are involved for getting job. Because recruiters hire individuals skill, neither their grade nor their University degree. But for PHD or Accademic research work University and Technical University always win.
Fardous Alam: Hi, I had a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering and would like to study for a master's degree in Embedded. @bharat with all due respect, I disagree with many points mentioned in this video. Firstly about me, I am a Master Mechatronics student at FH Aachen and I am currently doing my internship in autonomous driving at Mercedes Benz. The points I would disagree with are as follows: 1. Regarding electives: This could vary from university to university but being from an FH, I always have broad choices when it comes to electives. Also its the same for students who are in a different course. We have different sets of electives for winter and summer semesters. 2. Practical experience: I would say its a well known fact that the number of lab sessions that you have in FH are much more as compared to those in TH or TU. So I would argue that you get more hands on learning in a FH. Also for technical subjects in FH you almost every time have to make a project (live project) with report for most subjects. 3. Job opportunities: I dont think companies do make a lot of difference on where you graduated from but rather what did you do during your studies. I know many from my course who have got internships and also jobs in Bosch, Continental, Audi and Daimler.
Hey, can i please talk personally to anyone of you guys? I'm planning to do my MS in a FH, it'll be really helpful if i can talk to you regarding some queries i had.
It depends on what company is hiring for, if company is looking for a research engineer, they are of course going to prefer a University Graduate. University of applied sciences are great for so many reasons, but old school Universities are better in many ways. You can do a PhD or work as a research associate after a degree from a University but it’s lot harder to do that with a degree from UAS. And it’s nearly impossible for one to get his/her 90 credit masters recognised in India.
I agree with you, I am from FH Südwestfalen and our course has a lot of practical assignments and around 4-5 presentations per semester. I have friends from some universities (even TU) they just have final exams and the semester is done. Studying at FH is a lot harder than universities (and some TUs). Also, it completely depends on the course.
