Love ya Fam!
For Part 1 of this series
I shot a film in a TINY House

Lol I did this years ago- but it wasn’t planned 😂
Glad you're back Big Dog!!
Wonderful work. The way you document the behind the scene version with such detail and adding the music and visual effects are on point.
I just can't get over how good your visual storytelling is! Both in the film and in these BTS videos! Keep it up man!
you've always had a palpable style to your videos, but it feels like you've really mastered it lately ! Love the pacing of this vid and how you don't pander- like it's assumed everyone watching understands the basics of filmmaking. You don't see that on a lot of tutorials these days
Darious, I have been watching your channel since 2014. Man, you have come a long way. Keep up the great work. Your channel is a gem. Thank you.
THIS WAS AMAZING, honestly is my favorite filmmaking channel by miles
@laith_nz By kilometers? for the international audience
Your passion for making films is inspiring 🎉
You do legit films, you should be crushing youtubers
Amazing video! Respect on sticking with the same lens and overcoming those challenges.
Hey bro bro, just want to let you know your film unsound inspired me to deal with my mental illness and help others working as a peer support specialist/peer mentor with people who have mental health issues like me and substance abuse disorders I’ve been sober for 10 years off of heroin And I really like this job and I would like to thank you for your inspiration to help me inspire others which I’ve had members already talk to me about and said that I inspired him to show that there’s life with mental illness. I hope other members with their own recovery, because what worked for me may not work for them I really like seeing them on their own journey and finding out what works for them in their recovery process. Your videos really mean a lot to me keep up the good work and thanks again I wish one day I could meet you I live in Orange County, California if you’re ever in the area.
Yo reading this put a big smile on my face. You just made my day, Fam.
I'm honored to have a small but meaningful impact on your journey. Holy smokes!
It always amazes me how much thought and planning goes into every second of final movie. Great insight, thank you.
Loved. Loved the look and everything. Truly appreciate all the bts about your thoughts and planning. Great job again.
That sound from the fly was very clever
So glad to see rapid fire uploads from one of my formative filmmaking youtubers. The flick is sick! Seeing the process is so informative and produced with such care, precision, and humor. Love your stuff to bits D4!
Great explanation of the process and intent, thank you Darius! I love your storytelling.
It's a great short film and these breakdowns are massively inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Darious! I've been a fan of your work for many years. I know you like the new style of videos you're making (lots of motion design, crispy crunchy voiceover, getting really straight to the point), but I really miss the vibe of your old vids (from about 2015-2017). Would be very great if you'd make some vids like this again. Those were what hooked me to your channel and were super interesting first and foremost because there was way more of you in them, they felt much more personal. Hope you get the idea. Didn't mean to be rude or anything, just wanted to share this. Keep hustling! Cheers!
Dang I love the way you told the story. Every time you make a post its wildly inspirational 💯🔥 thanks a bunch for creating brotherman ✌️✌️✌️
I am very happy to see you shooting on the BMPCC4k already seeing a drastic improvement in the quality of your work, excellent as always!
Super informative as always, makes me eager to get back to the set and shoot something.
I watched this during a blackout due to an electric storm with my window open, and I swear the lighting and sound from the storm synced multiple times to flashing in the editing, like at 6:10
It's interesting watching you again after specifying my role on set (Prod. Sound). My perspective is so different now. Good stuff! 👌
Absolutely love seeing your process but also the doubts that you experience on whether an idea would work or not. Very educational and humbling. Also the editing and effort put into making these BTS video is epic In it’s own right
Thank the thought process and planning and how you show reference help me as a potential film maker. I would love to move series like this.
Great video!! Your content always amazes me :)
The behind the sense video is just as excellent as the actual film, outstanding!
keep uploading legend
great film making darius, good job teaching us as well
Watching your sound design game, made me want to improve. One of my biggest weaknesses for sure.
I actually liked the second shot better, great stuff man. Thanks for sharing your journey
I'm so happy seeing more videos! Always inspiring, and I appreciate the effort put into this.
I also have a lot of respect for the style of these videos, but if I can offer one piece of feedback, the strobing effect that is used throughout (at 10:15 for example) didn't bother me at first but by the end of the video I noticed it was bothering my eyes. Very cool visuals, but a little unpleasant (which is what is supposed to be conveyed I guess lol)
Great material! Cheers from Brazil! ;o)
So awesome!
Exciting for this part 2!
Yo yo Kelly.
@@D4Darious that was a great watch once again, loved seeing you challenge yourself to think outside of the box. I'm always trying to work on my cinematography so seeing what you were trying to achieve with lighting and especially seeing your thought process from concept, reference photos to then execution is great for me. Always a joy
Wow. This was absolutely awesome.
Really Cool and informative video!!!
This is super valuable. I will get to your level someday. Kudos 👍
You'll get there sooner than you think.
This channel is another film school. Thank you man
Loved this. Lighting and frames looked delicious. Flipping the image to match cut with letters reading the wrong way not an overly smart move. I guess it was only for a few frames.
You r a beast Bro! ✊
I shoot every video with only one lens. That's the joy of using a GoPro for everythign
First, I'm obsessed with how you're telling the stories. A friend said you should teach MATH on youtube. Everyone would get it. I'd love to see how you go about planning for these video essays.
Now, for the original magna carta shot, is it possible to remove the window in post?
D4Darious can do more with a gopro than most can do with a Sony Venice 😅🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💙🤦🏾♂️ my inspiration thru film school here at fullsail university
Bering a filmmaking you-tuber myself I think the amount of time you put to make this youtube videos its the some takes make the actual film itself!
"I dunnno.....I don't f*cking know!" - D
Lmao
Props 50mm in small space. Nice! i still want to see that Magna Carta shot but works without it. Good Job Sir!
Love the vid, properly inspiring.😊
Thank you Bruh-Bruh
Hey man, great video I got a question what app do you use to draw your storyboards?
Love it love it love it! :D
Always a pleasure working with you Piotr!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Motion Graphics editing is 🔥
Hey, loved the process,im learning a lot. Can you explain the part ( 14:38 ) where yout added film stock to the edit, how do you do that to make it look grainy.
Hello I have a question about your editing! what are you using to create the animation of your character?
I discovered you a few weeks ago and I can't stop binging your content. Lately I've been in the "Imitation" phase in my UA-cam journey. (I'm still learning how to make videos and edit). And this video in particular I have seen over 15 times in the last 2 days because of the editing. So again, if you see this comment, what process are you using to create the animation of your character?
I'm sure you're just using keyframes, but I'm interested in the workflow with that.
Do you keyframe them in Premiere Pro and then put them in AE for the writings and other effects, OR, are you in AE the entire time and also use 3D Camera for some effects.
If you or anyone knows a resource I can use to make these edits I would love to hear it. Until then I will try my best to mimic this style and implement it in my own ways through my videos.
GREAT WORK (I will be watching these for inspiration and joining your patreon soon)
honestly I like the magna carta replacement better than the OG idea
1:47 Shawn Kempish👍🏿
Thinking about taking a trip soon. I want to shoot some video and I’m thinking about taking my 50mm pancake only! Quite a daunting task. I think the 20-60mm might be better but that tiny pancake is just so portable! A tiny 20mm would be the best but there isn’t one for the Leica mount cameras!
Great video as always Darious, I'll be able to afford a voigtlander lens one day lol
Keep hustlin'. Lycan! I appreciate you.
2.32. Lo grité como un gol de último minuto. Excelente!
Thank you Gabriel
Darious you should’ve rolled that shot. Added Meg to the widow to kill the spill. And I hate to say it but In post use content aware fill to remove the windowsill.
I think I can do it on one lens too... probably my 18-400... 😂
Excellent work, as always!
I couldn't quite understand why the replacement shot for Magna Carta could not work with Birdie lying on the floor. It might have cut off a part of her head and her feet shooting through the door frame, but that would have enhanced the claustrophobic feel. Was it a lighting issue? Was it because of the bed visible in the background? I don't understand.
Nice
Yeah. All short films back then was shot one lens because we had 1 only one. Camcorders... miniDV tapes... there is no reason to go back. Now we don't have FireWire IEEE ports to capture DV tapes to computer.
Everything is fvcking intentional❤💯
I bet this YT video took more time editing than the actual film. ❤
I feel your pain. I shoot all my films with one lens and it's not easy
Is the focal length at 9:27 the same as the rest of the film or did you use another lense?
I’ve shot many things just on the voigtlander 17.5mm 😅
Ha. Welcome to the club buddy.
Wait so are we waiting still to watch the film ?
Love the way you brakedown video’s
You pay more attention to details tha any video ive watched 😁
How much would you charge to help shoot a feature film.
Lol me who usually only films with just a 25ml (50ml equiv) on paid shoots
bruh, that editing
Great 👍👍👍👍👍👍⚘🌹♥️♥️
i did too
Now imagine his After Effects file size...
Dude, you could have just moved the bed to get the Magna Carta shot you wanted on the naked wall.
I do this for all my films kit lens has been used and abused
❤❤🎉🎉
Man the film making space here on UA-cam dearly misses this brother D4D.
2023 let’s go !
I appreciate you, fam.
