Madhav Poudel could u try mine out?
faaaaaaaaaax
Yup subscribed on the first video I just saw
I agree
i literally gasped for air when i saw this on my homepage
jacob sack relatable 😊
wth. literally and audibly so did I.
After watching this, it makes me appreciate the short even more. Also, it gives me more faith in my ability as an actor who creates his own work that shots cant always be achieved in 5 takes. Im gonna apply some of what i learned from this and apply to both my directing work and acting. Hopefully I can fly out to the states one day and work with you one day, who knows :D
*That's a lot of Text*
She's just a co-worker
slam xD as soon as i read this i heard it
*Thats a looooot of text*
Thats a lot of damage
Push in Action MAN!
Last minute shot list....I know that feeling.
She is such a good actress. The "A LOT OF TEXTS" takes were all good imo
I thought this was my comment...i said the exact same thing lol🔥🔥
filmmaking excites me so bad. i can't wait to move back to my homeland and work as a filmmaker!. i wrote to a producer to pitch my script, i'm goddamn excited and confident. there isn't a lot of filmmakers in Greenland and if they are, they are either producers who can't finish their movies or they are shit filmmakers and i don't like shit filmmakers (very sorry that i'm being honest, but i feel like there could be better movies in Greenland). great video Brit!
@Rafael B. thank you :D
ACADIA COPIA good luck
@@Randomperson-hf6wu thank you :D
How’re your projects coming along?
Thank you ua-cam.com/video/j911eYs4rVE/v-deo.html
Love your channel because uou are the only one,who making real movies and not just youtube videos with super expensive equipment and this giving us courage to make our movies with less budget thank you honestly respect from Greece.
What I like about your videos; they are too entertaining to be called tutorials, they are humorous, they are informative, they create interest, the talking head moves. Thank you.
I love whenever new content pops up! This channel is dope.
Agreed!
I appreciate the support Easy E!
I find this channel to be one of the most informative and interesting ones to teach me, a long-time playwright and now a screenwriter the fundamentals of filmmaking. I made a few shorts when I was in college, (a long time ago) but now I am determined to put a lot more of my work on film. I am aiming to shoot a feature length this winter, of course with help but with the information from Darius, I will shock my crew when they see that I know what the heck I am talking about. Thank you Darius.
You are welcome this is my friends new channel ua-cam.com/video/j911eYs4rVE/v-deo.html
thanks for such in depth bts of the whole process, definitely saving it for watch later
I just watched not cool several times took notes and now it’s for the bts
It would be great if you did a video where you discussed how you label/name your shots like '444-1 Take 2' etc. Also, how you tie the audio from the Zoom H1 back to the video, given that you have 2 sources and so many scenes. Maybe it's part of a future video and I should just be patient! With that said, hurry up and publish!!!
He said in the beginning that this way of numbering the shots didn't worked and that he wasn't explain it because it's too confusing... as for the audio I guess he's just clapping or asking one of the actor to clap.
Yes! You actually take us step by step in filmmaking! Cool this chanel IS A HIDDEN GEM💎
I like this filmception thing you got going on. You made it look easy. Great job
That was A LOT of takes. this shows dedication to your craft, Good shit bro.
And the actors
Any small film makers wanna support each other?!
Love the video Darius!!
I could use support.
Yeah
Mo Alagi subbed! Sick stuff!
Glitchinema I subbed! Could you do the same?!
Fiev subbed!!!
I'm entering into the All American High School Film Festival and I'm learning so much from you!!

D4Darious, I'm not sure if you read these comments however, I was raised to give thanks to people help or inspire you in one way or another, so thanks for being so transparent and open to sharing what you've learn, its been very, very helpful. I'm still considered armature however being hands on, staying busy, and being in full time prison ministry keep me inspired to write, create and produce short film projects thanks again Brit, and for all the thumps down or negative comments you may get from time to time I prayer it all still work in your favor.

Thank you Boss!
Hey! Brother! I'm from India and I shoot fashion! I was so scared of making movies but I always wanted to shoot. You're so damm good at your thing that you made me feel like I can do it! Keep up this forever! Thanks for everything!
Gosh you have no idea how much this video format helps. Understanding each small choice you made while on set is so incredibly informative.
Thank you for incredible content like this
Man thanks 100 millions time to share all that with us. That awesome to see the whole process, everything, wooow! Takeaway: Patience, Patience, Patience is KEY in that process, it take time to get what you want, something that is working great. And it's not about the gear but the STORY.
I want a "thats a lot of text" quote on my shirt rn.
Perfect timing on this video. I had literally just been looking for a video just like this; I want to shoot a worthy short film, but I’m super new to it. So thank you so much for this!
Really looking forward to this series of Practical Filmmaking Tutorials. You're artist generosity is praiseworthy.
This has to be the most educational video I’ve ever seen on UA-cam
I love watching these behind the scenes.
Wow! You put in a lot of work in that video bruh! And that's only the 1st day of shooting. Much props!
That’s a lot of takes... a lot of takes! That made me anxious. I’ve never have gotten to that many. I’m glad you got the right moment! I respect that you had the patience and took the time to get it right✊🏻
Thank you Big Nate! It's all apart of the process. You'll find yourself doing the same thing once you get further along.
@@D4Darious Man don't you think it's a bit too much!. Even the peanut butter short film.
Do you advise us to make dozens of takes? Do they do that in feature films?
Please make a video about it
Edit: Were the actors not happy about it?
One of my favorite channels. Keep rockin D, your insight and ability to show/tell what’s happening is priceless. So much great detail. I appreciate you.
The best channel for the BTS vids on filmmaking. Awesome job! It really helps seeing the whole process for up and comers
The best channel for no film school film makers keep up the good work d4.
this is unbelievable, exactly what I wanted to know, the thought process and little nuances that you won't get without practice..thank you so much
Thaankyouu soo muchh brother! You're legit my biggest inspiration! 😍
Same!!
I learned a lot from D when i first started. One of my favorites

Darious i saw your short film "Not Cool".GREAT JOB.I LOVED YOUR JOB
Not an aspiring film maker but I do wanna be an actor, so seeing the process really helps as an insight for what the filming atmosphere will be like. Can’t wait for part 2 !
Yesss! Thanks for this. Planning to shoot a short before the end of this month!
D4 is the master of filmmaking's documentary filmmaking. And he also did a shockingly intense drama feature. And his great stuff still comes for free to all of us folks. Thanks for what you make :)
I have an idea for a short film and it will be my first so I've been watching a lot of shorts and a few behind the scenes for inspiration and guidance but man this is the best I have seen! You go in to such detail for such a short video. My set up will be nowhere near as elaborate (just ambient light outside and a Sony A6400) but I will still take away a lot of useful tips. I like the way you try out different shots (and so many) on the fly to just see what works rather than just shooting planned shots. One thing I'm quite pleased about is when you bounced a light off the living room ceiling I though 'that's too bright it's overpowering the window light' and later you turned it down for that reason (my photography experience I guess). Subbed and liked and looking forward to watching the rest of 'Shooting a film, start to finish.' The actors were great too :-)
That's a LOOOOTTTT of takes! Like Kubrick shooting The Shining takes! Lol. I love to improvise so I'd be in heaven. You seem very specific in what you want--the good part is that you're patient enough to let the actors find the right moments.
Big Rich. Miss you Brutha!
@@D4Darious ditto! I've been shooting. We'll be speaking soon my friend. Good stuff! And great video--as usual!
You're a Godsend Darious. Thanks for all your hard work putting this all together.
Restekpa! Lots of work, but all in all a great outcome! Love the patience your cast has. Greetings from Germany, everybody!
THAT PUSH IN ACTION!
This is great man! Your behind the scenes are so much more relavent to small filmakers than anything I have seen. And the films you make prove over and over how you don't need a ton of money to make a great movie. Thank you.
This is quite a good behind the scenes
7 people don't understand the process... great work, man. keep it up.
I legit couldn’t stop watching...
Such an interesting process!
Eternally grateful for this channel
Thanks D Britt!!!
I really enjoyed the Not Cool film a lot. Glad you made a video about making it with some behind the scenes stuff too!
This kind of BTS is SOoo valuable! Thanks for taking the time to document and share!!
Thank you Big Knop!
The amount of effort you put into your videos is crazy wow
You’re a GEM my brother, FREE99! Whaaaaaat!
You're an inspiration, dude.
Interesting to watch. You’re not easy to satisfy. But you keep optimistic and cool. I bet it’s fun working with you.
Your channel is one of my favorites on filmmaking. You show how you can make cool stuff with minimal gear. I love that.
If you ever could make more video’s about writing, that would be great.
You’re one of the teachers I can easily take something from.
Greetings from The Netherlands!!
Micro managing and actor exhaustion through obsessive takes will always hurt the film.
Trust your actors and maybe learn about that sweet performance spot (on the 3rd-5th take)
Biggest lesson I've learnt, is what you want to visually capture doesn't necessarily mean its the best shot
Great point, same principle applies in music recording, and most creative endeavours I'd imagine
True. It’s important to know when the magic has come and gone, and not run talent into the ground. But for every one-take wonder, there’s a thousand that just had to be beaten out until it’s right. Don’t be afraid of hard work. And yeah, rehearsal helps ;-)
I was genuinely ecstatic to see this film lol cause I have that exact camera. Things are going my way, you uploaded this video, I finally have an idea for my new short film and a micro film, and I got to apply to this program that pays you to get taught how to film and make a business from filming. I'm loving life rn
excited for part 2
Hi, Darious you said in your video that to get the correct over the shoulder shot composition you would have needed a 50mm lens. 25mm on M3/4 camera is the equivalent to 50mm on full frame as it is a 2x crop.
You have amazing camera work and lighting skills. I hope you succeed in your proffession.
Also you're a good director.
This is insane. So inspiring
Man lighting is so important for a cinematic film look. Definitely gotta do more learning on that
I've been waiting for this ALL DAY.
This, good sir, is brilliant AF! You doing the "gods of the creative creators" type work right here!
I love you Darious! !!!! You are one of a kind
Your Awesome bro for explaining A-z an being honest of the real challenges.!!!!
This was incredibly generous. Thank you for making this series!
These are awesome man
Wow!!! This Is SO DOPE!!!! Thanks Bro!
His reaction at 24:10 is amazing. You can feel him
edelkrone 👌 great choice

Say before, i'm from Russian, and that's video very information and intresting for me. More video!!!! More!! *p.s.* i'm so sorry for my english, its not good...
just helping. 1. Just said im russian, or im from russia 2. very informative.
@@muhammadfaris7815 so sorry, just helping. From russia
Hey D4, I have been watching your stuff for sometime now, love the work especially your behind the scenes stuff.
Can seem a lonely business making films on your own, so very much sympathise with your pain and frustrations, especially the back ache.
Keep up the excellent work.
Aw, the bathroom multimrirror shot would have been great. Fractured relationship reflected in mirrors. Great work. I’ve been binging your channel. Cheers!
Darius. I love bts videos. Cant wait for part 2. This is such an educational video for the beginning filmmaker thank you. -Will
such an inspirational video!
love these videos
Love these insight into the process videos! Please keep them coming.
Your work is really good. You must be sponsored for all the fine stuff you provide.
Love videos like this!! Really helps someone (me) who is just starting. Loved Unsound BTW, really changed my perspective on what I find creative and appealing about a motion picture. Thanks for what you do!
Thanks for sharing. This is helping me on my upcoming project. Congrats on an amazing film.
This is so intense! Makes me exhausted to try and follow the length’s they go into in every detail and the amount of takes they do. Just completed an online film class at Tisch and just don’t know where to start now. Didn’t think it was going to take this much work to create something decent 😞
I feel you. This is daunting to say the least. I severely underestimated what was involved.
@@paulgreengod Haha, so I'm not the only one but I'll bet that you're not lazy like I am. Just signed up with the local college to try a film school class and I'm a 60 year old dude sitting among 20 year old kids. That's a a film story right there.🤣
dude, you are amazing, thank you!
Dooopppee been waiting on this.
I
love this channel thank you Dee
D4 You The Man!
we need more like this video
You are a Blessing. Looking to do short films one day. Congratulations 🍾 Happy New Year.🎊🎈🎆
Loved that you took the time to do this in such depth! Behind the scenes stuff is always welcome in my book, and this is all that and more! :D

Great video man! Probably the only video of half an hour I could actually watch. Btw, can you drop the name of the gloves you are using, XD. I think they look really cool, not as cool as all the other gear you have but you know what I mean
Darious you're a genius man!!!
Very fun. Thankyou so much for posting. Im currently dabbling in writting horror films, but I would love to direct my own one day.
this a master class thanks a lots
I don't even own a camera but I love your content, super interesting. Thanks for all your hard work and energy and passion. Awesome brother! ❤️
Love your channel man. This is so awesome, informative and inspirational. Can't wait for the next installment.
Thank you for the support Anthony!
I really admire your work and passion. I'd love you to make a video about GoPro's (using them as filming tools beyond sports.) Thnks! Cheers from a mexican fan.
