    Picked up this omega today. My first high end watch. Been saving for a very long time.
    On the way out i spotted an iwc387903 and tried it on.
    I loved it and i gotta say it looks soo much better in person. Photos make it look kind of dull in my opinion but wow it was incredible.
    Im new to this watch world but ive loved and been drawn to watches ever since i was about 6 years old.
    My grandmother used to tell me i used to ask to see everyones watch when i was a little boy.
    Very happy with my purchase

    Had an original bond Seamaster Professional I bought new in 2002. Serviced it twice over its lifespan and that watch served me well. Thought about replacing it but flat out did not care for the non wave dial of the 2011-2017 model. I saw this at an AD last weekend and couldn’t get it off my mind. Went in today and secured a 20% discount and pulled the trigger. I feel like I got an updated and massively improved replacement for old reliable. Every single feature is better. The features, attention to detail and the build quality are at least on-par with Rolex and the price is less than half. Plus... I can have one without smooching up to an AD who wants me to prove myself worthy by stepping through the purchase of lesser models and a ring, bracelet or earrings in the cases on the other side of the store. I am scratching that itch for nostalgia for the older version (and my first fine timepiece) while getting cutting edge technology and quality. As my sone would say.. “It’s dope!”.the dial is a quantum leap in the beauty department. I can scarcely take my eyes off of it when the sun plays on the gloss blue surface, the precision laser cut wave pattern and the jewel-like sparkle of the hands and applied markers (which were just dollops of lume paint on the old one) . Aside from the overall aesthetic and design elements there is NO comparison between these watches. Oh.. yeah.. and move over glidelock.. the Omega ratcheting micro-adjust just ate your lunch. Couldn’t be more pleased

    • @Zeus-qr7ol
      @Zeus-qr7ol 5 років тому

      Congratulations on the purchase! I personally would've gone with the Pelagos though - there's a few reasons for it. Keep in mind, I am biased due to owning one. The reasons are: automatic helium escape valve as opposed to manual, ceramic ball bearing clasp (will never wear out), buttery smooth winding, higher BPH, superior lume, and easier to clean up. The SMP is definitely an awesome choice though if you want something that is more dressy.

    • @valjean3141
      @valjean3141 5 років тому +1

      Personally, I will be going with the SMP for my next upscale watch. The Pelagos is a great piece too, but the aesthetic is anti-dress functionalism. I respect it, but when I want to wear something that’s really functional and for banging around, that’s what my Casio Mudmaster is for.

I saw it in person and it literally blew me away, it punches so far above it's weight. Looks phenomenal. Clearly looks sweeter than the Sub at this point. One wonders if Rolex will ever update the now old as dirt Sub movement to give it some additional anti-mag qualities. Not that it matter since you cannot even buy Subs at retail. This new SM300Pro is serious bang per buck.

      jimmyjay122 the sub isn’t disappointing at all though, it’s elegant and classy, while the sea master looks much bigger and sportier

    • @jimmyjay122
      @jimmyjay122 5 років тому +3

      Johan Stevens To each their own... I’ve tried several times to buy one and I’ve repeatedly tried on the Sub and the GMT master II and they both felt insignificant on the wrist. I’m not into this whole “understated” aesthetic. Combine that with their boring and almost femininely narrow bracelets (another shock I received at the AD) and that was it for me. Keeping in mind that I’ve obsessed about it for a couple of months before visiting the AD, seeing all the pictures watching all the videos (as is the case with almost every watch I’ve ever bought).
      I’ll finally say this, even if the Submariner and the Seamaster were the same price I would choose the Omega in a heartbeat.

    • @jimmyjay122
      @jimmyjay122 5 років тому

      It’s Time Rolex has the anti magnetic technology, but it’s in the Milgauss. A hideous watch that if I remember correctly doesn’t even have a date feature. They will add the anti magnetic feature to more watches in the future of course so as to justify adding a grand or 2 to their price. The only difference between Rolex and several watchmakers like Omega or Baume & Mercier or Breitling is marketing and branding strategies. Quality... not so much. And aesthetics not at all.

      Esa Elias he can walk out of the AD and have it. With Rolex you wait weeks/months and can’t even see the movement and ain’t that anti magnetic like omega. Also Rolex certificate is intern and not transparent, as with omega you can see all the results with pictures of your watch tested in the official omega webpage when you put in your serial no and other stuff. Just some differences.

    42 mm is a good size. Size of watches have grown over the years. Wearing something like 40 mm or smaller is like wearing a ladies watch or a boys watch. The new generation of sports watches now range from 42 to 44 mm. Therefore 42 mm on the new Seamaster is already conservative for a dive watch. Recently I took my old Seamaster out from the drawer which is 38 mm. Oh my, it looks like a ladies watch and seems so old-fashioned due to its small dimensions! I regretted not buying the 41 mm version at that time. Yet my wrist isn't big by any means. So guys, this new 42 mm is perfectly fine for any wrist, so please don't ask for anything smaller like a 40 mm or less.

    • @jamess8175
      @jamess8175 5 років тому +1

      @R A Thank you for your kind comments!
      On the contrary, watches have grown bigger over the years and has stablised, not declined. As seen from most watchmakers, dive watches mostly range from 42 to 44 mm. It's tragic some people are too blind to realise and too proud to even admit this.
      You are right, there are people who are lacking, so they can't even wear a slightly bigger timepiece, not to mention their lack in other departments. Again, it's either they can't see or refuse to see. Tragic.

    • @jamess8175
      @jamess8175 5 років тому +1

      @R A Ouch! That's nasty! I thought we are civilised people, unless you aren't. That is a personal attack on your part. If you can't accept feedback objectively, run along, not respond. Why choose to be offensive and barbaric in the first place? It is obviously a waste of time and energy writing to you, so this shall be my last reply. And I shall refrain from learning from you by calling names and making suggestive, lewd remarks. Indeed you need to be more respectful in life. Unfortunately you haven't and won't reach that level of wisdom. Period. Goodbye and all the best.

    I think aside from desk diving, the reason the jump hour was not implemented here was mainly due to the design purpose. The aquaterra in 41mm was designed for the sailor on the teak deck of his yatch, much more likely to be jumping timezones than the professional which is geared more as a diving tool. The lack of the jump hour also allows the movement to be less complex with less that can go wrong.
    Now as to why the 38mm aquaterras also do not have that jump hour, it might be due to the movement being smaller? Needs confirmation, but might also explain it as I would expect a 300m tool diver to have beefier case sides than a 150m sport-casual watch.

    While adding bulk to a watch is usually something that dissuades me, I can fully understand their choice to add the diver extension. This still is a dive watch, and it keeps it as such-whether people use it or not is another story. However, the size increase has removed this watch from my purchase list. I tried it on at my local AD, and while I could get away with it, I decided it’s bigger than the look I prefer with my 6.5” wrist. Fingers crossed that they update the size of the mid-size to 38/39
