Watched vikings from the start and sad to see lagertha go but hope she gets the send off she deserves.
Watching the characters send her off is going to be hard, especially Bjorn who has had her his whole life.

Depends if the actor, Travis, wants to come back, or maybe he'll be to busy with other projects.
I was sad for Lagertha. In history it is said that she died of old age and peacefully as well as Bjorn. Kinda disapointed that didn't happen.
I guess Harold's pitch was "Make Norway Great Again!" and they fell for it.
Fell for it? Record breaking economy, historical low unemployment... Maybe Harold will do the same... but let's be honest Harold is the democrat. Lying to people, fake promises in the guise of "for the people". lol

Any sympathy I might of had for Harald Finehair has vanquished.
Same. He betrayed Bjorn and tried to assassinate him! Bjorn's not going to let that slide!
Never had sympathy for finehair. When Ragnar met him, he immediately despised him. Which is an indication of the character of Harald.
Indeed. Furthermore, given that (I believe) this is the final season, and unless the plot significantly diverges from reality, Harald won't receive what's due to him.
Harald was the rightful king ever since he was first introduced. It's such a breath of fresh air to see somebody who's not a son of Ragnar get some succes/recognition in this show. I was happy that he got to be king, I can only hope he'll stay that way or they'll shove in Bjorn in the end.
Don't forget Bjorn attacked Ivar with Haralds army, Haralds fleet (many of them drowned because Bjorn wanted to attack in the storm) and then claimed Kattegat's crown even tough Harald had done all the heavy lifting and had also already been made Ivar's heir.
One thing that I thought was really cool this episode was the scene between Olaf and Harald. Not because of the dialogue but because of the colors. The background behind Olaf is blue representing regret and making him seem isolated while Haralds background seems warmer representing his happiness of this achievement.
I thought this was really cool and only noticed it because of how I felt watching Olaf and Harald lol. I felt sad looking at Olaf and happy looking at Harald when I realized it was the tone the colors created 😂
It was a very sharp contrast to the jovial and happy behaviour he used to have. The gusto behind his words was gone.

I hope Bjorn comes back on a rampage.. knew harald was gonna do that. I mean i didn't care that he won but trying to kill Bjorn pissed me off, too far man. Bjorn saved him from king Olaf. Hopefully they all makeup cause they got ivar and that whole other army coming soon!
I don’t get Harald. He had the chance to let Björn die without any of his blood on his hands. Instead, he saved him and got stabbed for it.

The whole point of Hvitserk killing her was to show us that all along he was chasing the wrong fate. He went to kill Ivar and when he thought he did, it ended up being Lagertha. It’s pretty much his whole arc throughout the show with him constantly questioning his fate and purpose in life. We find out now that it wasn’t to kill Ivar but to kill Lagertha. Him mercy killing her wouldn’t make much sense and this is now the beginning of a new arc for him.

I was really disappointed that Ragnar did not come for Lagertha they were always no matter what in love with each other and still there through everything for each other it made no sense that he did not come for her in the end if they could finally be together. It would have made such a great ending for the both of them to finally be together at last in Valhalla
I think in the Vikings world Ragnar and Lagertha were reunited in Valhalla. Lagertha told Hvitserk not to feel bad because she was about to see Ragnar again. I just wish, like you, that they would have shown it!

I found the battle between Finehair and Lagertha really well done. More emotional than i expected. Also the use of Ragnar’s death music made it a lot more moving.

I reaaaaallly hate they use Ragnar's death theme for other characters, escpecially in this fight. Also that woman singing Lagertha is really wtf and over melo-dramatic which doesn't fit in my opinion. Fun to read how other people saw this episode.

I think her death will make Ivar change and not care about fighting his brothers anymore. He will probably kill Oleg and shift his focus somewhere else in season 6B
The battle was pretty awesome between whitehair and Lagetha but it was nothing on Frodo Ubba!

I LOVED the Lagertha vs White Hair battle but the Ubbe vs Frodo battle was LIT!! 🔥🔥🔥 I guess the fact that they went mano a mano, beating the sh!t out of each other like some bare fisted Apollo vs Rocky match took it to a whole other level! But Lagertha fighting to the bitter end with that shard fragment of her shield was pretty lit too! 🔥🔥🔥🛡

I had a feeling it would go down the way it did. I've been chewing on how the Seer's words "killed by a son of Ragnar" would happen since he said them. We were fixed on Ivar.. the most obvious when we should've been looking at another source. I even realized how it would go when the mushrooms and ale came in..hallucinagens do that. I am still sooo sad to see a woman who was "ride or die" dedicated to her family and her culture from the beginning go down like that. She was the dedicated loyal faithful and fierce wife mother shield maiden from day one. She had been through so much and touched so many. Would be nice to see Lagatha smack Ragnar when she meets him in Valhalla 😂
I was not expecting to but, I actually cried when Lagertha died. Couldn't help it. Her last fight scene was done really well. I wish there was more imagery like you suggested though I will keep pondering any symbolism in the circumstances of her death.
That's where I am at! Even just seeing Ragnar's image in the distance wouldve been decent. But, no, they had to screw it up. She carried the show! All these years! Cant even let the woman see her dead husband for a frigging second? stupid bull s****

Fabulous analysis! My thoughts exactly! Especially on the epic battle of Lagertha and the gates of Valhalla. (Who knows! We might still see it in the next episode around her funeral ceremony.)
My two favorite actors are now gone, Ragnar and Lagerthia. I hope the show somehow shows them two being reunited, together again, in Vahala. Great review. Now I really dislike King Harold, the back stabber.

Loved the song overlay in Lagerthas death.. during the fight with white hair it seemed to represent a compress story of her journey// losing a piece of her a little at a time until she truly had no shield or sword.. representing each betrayal and battle would piece by piece.. fighting to the bitter end

Lagartha's death was sad as she died in the gutter essentially alone, and it would not have been the way I would have liked her to go out. Tbh after she killed the boys mum I kinda thought she deserved it. I mean yes the bitch took your man but to stab her in the back seemed totally out of character and lacking any honour. She would have deserved it and personally I always thought Ivar would do the deed.
And I do think they will know it's Hvitserk because of the clear shot of him dropping the knife and at the end panning out to Lagarthas body and the knife. We shall see...
Technically, Lagertha did not die alone. She died in Hvitserk's arms. He did however leave her corpse alone and ran away.
Now that Lagertha is killed off. I do not really care any more. I hope they do a Ragnar and Lagertha reunion in Valhalla.

I have to admit they strung me along from the fight with Whitehair to the very end with Her Death. Most definitely when the same music at Ragnars death started playing during the Whitehair fight.

I actually really liked this episode. This is setting up a good end to the season. I’m so sad to see Lagatha go though.
Same here! I enjoyed the episode. It's bittersweet to say goodbye to Lagertha but I thought it was a good death. And she had one last, legendary battle before she went. ❤👑🗡🛡❤
Maybe as someone suggested That the. Viking slave Freydis and Rus Princess Katya are separated twins almost like Mark Twains The Prince & The Pauper.

It's very possible! Freydis was a slave, so she was captured from SOMEWHERE. it was never specifically stated where Freydis was from. Katya could very well be her twin, or a lookalike sister or cousin!
@emosh73 Ivar has got to return to England and face King Alfred the Great in at least one final epic battle (which is supposedly what made Alfred great - beating the Vikings).
That battle was like Vikings Takeshi's castle 🤣. And ALL the dialogue is awkward and forced

I dont understand why Bjorn was so pissed that people stopped calling his name at the election, its true what Harald said, just because you are a son of ragnar you are not entitled to everything by default, Bjorn doesnt deserve to be king of norway at all. Dudes been king for 5 minutes , already nearly got killed twice and betrayed by harald without suspecting anything whilst Harald was laughing in his face. Honestly its quite annoying how stupid michael hirst has made Bjorn. I’m really heartbroken she is gone now. I loved her and she played such a good part with so much passion. I am excited to see what Bjorn will do now.
I already knew Harald was going to win. In history he was actually the king of all Norway, so it was obvious this title that was used in the series was going to be used for Harald. That's why I love this series, they still keep a lot of it true to what happened in real life.
Although I think it was time for Lagertha’s character to go, I agree that the writers could have done it a little better. Still, that takes nothing away from Kathryn Winnick’s amazing performance during the whole series! Maybe someone could do a tribute video to her! That said, I look forward to the new story lines!
Great video. First I think that this episode "saved" season 6. Sad to see key actors leave but then again it was done in a tasteful manner. Love the "Erik"the red intro. Which means that we may get some lead to the New Foundland settlement? Or Greenland. Depends what liberty the writers will provide. Maybe a final connect with Floki? My ancestors fled king Harold to build Iceland. So far so good with this series. I could go on. The Ivar story bores me. Especially knowing the real history. Yes, the talking wasnt needed. Especially after the epic battle.

The only thing really stalling now is the Rus story between Ivar and Oleg. I was so excited during the trailers and its literally going nowhere now
I think it would've been great to at least see her and Ragnar together in the afterlife after all the times she talked about still being in love with him this season. He was obviously her Valhalla. Maybe at the end, Bjorn dies, and they show that scene with all of them together.

Netflix is doing a spinoff, but it is set 100 years later.
Bjorn becomes the king of Sweden in the Sagas/History. The show plays loose with how to get there but often comes back around to the major points of the Sagas and history.

thank God im not the only one to notice lagertha's and grunhild's cringe dialogues and tones of delivery . the crow woman was atrocious . i wasn't happy she died but i was happy her scream stopped

Hello, I'm a newer viewer here. I am heartbroken to see Lagertha go. She was my top favorite character in the show. I knew her time was coming but that didn't mean I was prepared for it. But at least the closure with her story was cohesive. The show will not be the same without her but I still want to see how this will all end.
Watching the characters send her off is going to be hard, especially for Bjorn. So many good memories :D
@@KingMckay Seeing the snippets of her funeral made me cry already. Even seeing the In Memoriam clip on Twitter that the show released made me tear up. Like Ragnar, she will live on as a legend!
Sorry but how is a shield maiden getting decapitated weird.... it's an axe it's not going to tickle her
Even for a freshly sharpen axe it's actually quite difficult to cut off someone's head off, these tiny battleaxes definitely wouldn't do it. The ones they would use the cut off someone's head off in an execution for say have so much weight behind it and have to be sharpened right for the occasion.
Like it's not a huge issue that's just what went through my head when I was watching it.
On a sneak peak shared by Viking's instagram account, seer replies to Ubbe with: "It was Ivar, yet it was not Ivar." when Ubbe asks which Ragnar's son killed Lagertha. So basically Ivar did kill Lagertha through Hvitserk. But also, Hvitserk was being told he must kill Ivar all this time in his visions, and he did kill a vision of serpent Ivar. So perhaps that's how he joins forces with Ivar again? He already killed him?

@@KingMckay All sons are the reason of Lagerthas death as someone else said in a comment. Ivar for killing freydis making Hvitserk crazy, Ubbe for not helping Ubbe and shunned him and also didnt go to the length of helping Lagerthas settlement. She was already fated to die after the wound of whitehair, black blood in a deep cut mean internal bleeding and death.
There needs to be more advertising for this series. I've missed 2 episodes and feel like the History Channel is putting it on during late night without announcing.

But in season 1 they introduced red haired erik, father of Leif, who sacrificed himself, i get what theyre doing with the stroyline advancement.. But what they did was intentional back in season 1

1. Harald never told them to kill Björn (that we saw, and now were confused) . 2. Why was that banished man allowed to be with Olafs or Haralds crew, (negating Björns entire speech in Kattegatt) . 3. Why didnt the other banished just move there? (Negating Whitehairs hatred and motivation to hate Lagertha). 4. Why would they let the children shoot arrows from the same perch that they were last? (They wouldn't, -just bad writing and direction)
5. Why would they let a perfectly good older warrior kill himself at the gate (they wouldn't -this was just stupid and made me think of poor direction and writing).
I have a feeling next person on Harald shit list is Olaf. He has to know Harald is going to want payback of the taking of his lands and imprisonment. Yeah Olaf will be taking a dirt nap next episode.

It wasn't offered to me at all because they turned to walk toward their fighting maze. In the beginning I hated Herald but now I'm sort of come to like him a little.
During the fight with white hair, when they played the song that Ragnar died to, and she was on the groumd with no weapon, i literally jumped up n yelled "no fuckin way are they gunna do this right now!!!" And then they didn't... I was kinda relieved but, I dunno 'bout y'all, but I dont like peoples messin with my emotions dammit! That was a great move on the show's part, but screw them for that shit lol. We can just about confirm that Erik is indeed Erik The Red. His name is spelled the same for 1, and his red-ass hair, but what really seals the deal is his story, which is super similar to the real Erik's story. Only problem is, historically, Erik The Red lived a whole century later than Björn.
1st - Harald was just being Harald....... Since he first came on the scene, he only cared about consolidating power for himself. 2nd - Lagertha's death by Hvitserk served what purpose? I would have rather seen Ubbe, or Bjorn sending Lagertha to Valhalla via a warriors death (sword through the back of the neck).. It would have been painful for either son to bare this action/burden. It just seems lazy to follow the seers blueprint. Be adventurous and try something that goes counter to what the seer foretold......
1.) I love Björn but I'd be pissed if HISTORY channel didn't make harold king.
2.) Since no one knows what happened to Ivar the writers have a lot of artistic liberty with him. Oleg is screwed. Ivar is conniving and sadistic and incredibly badass. I hope we see Ivar get revenge.
literally the co star of the saga, can't even get a decent death scene! I am so disgusted that it put tears in my eyes. For real! Bad ass fight scenes the entire show, but this was just fucked up. :( I am late to watching these shows. (PLEASE NO SPOILER REPLIES) I am so intrigued and feel that they really let us down on that. Even just seeing her husband standing there in the back ground wouldve been decent. But, NO, she dies in the arms of a druggy in the rain, while they sing over here being murdered. I am sickened.
Vikings has shown us once more how they can fuck with us in a good way. I thought "oh man they are not really going to let Lagertha get killed by white hair, that's not the prophecy" and then the whole Hvitserk story line comes into play and the prophecy is fulfilled. Intense stuff to say the least. I also had hoped to see an ending like Ragnar's but I think that didn't happen as she never struggled with her faith like Ragnar did. She knew she was going to Valhalla.
And oh boy, I have never seen Ivar this humiliated, down and shattered... like ok bro you were pretty much of a prick last season, but that is a trauma right there. I can see him killing Oleg and starting his own settlement in Ireland. A clean slate he very much needs.
Bjorn will pack his bags and leave for new countries, because after what happened this episode with his son and mother dead, his pregnant and wounded woman fighting against Oleg soon (which will probably not end too well) he might be like "Alright Imma head out".

It's sad how Harald Fairhair (AKA Harald Finehair cheated Bjorn Ironside out of a crown he deserved. However, just as the series is historically correct to depicted Harald as the first king of Norway, hopefully, the series does not end before it depicts how Bjorn becomes the first king of Sweden. On the other hand, the series seems to have mindlessly killed off Guthrum, who was a major antagonist to Alfred the Great and was part of a major historical turning point. If they want to do more with the King Alfred timeline (and still keep to the broad strokes of history), I guess they'll have to create a different Guthrum with an entirely different lineage that somehow makes a bond with Ubbe out of the blue).
I had to skip the shield maiden's shit...it was horrendous.
Lagertha fighting was alright..
Someone just being there to save Bjorn was just stupid...
They should've shown how Harald managed to sway the election .
But (even in your opinion) it seems that detailed storytelling should be left behind in favor of fast paced action.

Overall, it was one of the best episodes for her character and the actress but just parts of it still had me cringing the whole time. I found Lagartha's final finishing off by that drug addict Hvitserk to be too ignominious a fate for someone as magnificent as Lagertha. I would have liked it better if, a couple minutes after Gunnhild told Lagertha "I worship you now," Lagertha had slowly and gracefully let herself sink down to the ground and laid herself out to die from the mortal wound White Hair had given her. Gunnhild would have rushed to her side and scooped her up in her arms. Lagertha would have spoken her last words to Gunnhild as Gunnhild cradled her in her arms. The prophecy that Lagertha would be killed by a son of Ragnar would still be true in a symbolic sense. She would have been killed by Bjorn's decision to let White Hair live.
