Glad I watched your video, adjusting the detent was super helpful.. Since SI doesn't ship any instructions I had no way of knowing the ball detent that keeps the door closed is adjustable. Good Video. Thanks!
Dang man you got to love Strike Industries! Great Video👍
Better explanation than the actual Strike Industries install video. Thank you.
Very sexy Mid West set up, loving the build good sir. I don’t know why your vid would get a thumbs down must be those who don’t have style lol very well made video and instruction on installing this product. Just got mine today so now I’m excited to install, hope you and yours are staying safe and healthy during these crazy times.
Sure, super easy when you have that type, with the detent. I have never seen one like that before. I just installed my first one today, and it was a PAIN! Had to remove that tiny "C-ring" from the pin, then remove it while holding the spring so it wouldn't fly off, then once I got the pin started into the new cover (and the spring), I fed it back through, and also had to twist the spring on the "long end" so it would have the proper tension. After I got it fed back through the holes, I had to put that tiny "C-ring" back in place, using tweezers, a small flathead screwdriver and small hammer. This would be a DREAM for me!! I need to look into getting this style! The easier, the better!!👍
those cover are easy to install and gives it a different look than mil-spec
Thankyou especially on spring instruction
Great video...thanks!
Did it with you, perfect thanks. Cool cover
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tutorial!
I absolutely love the strike industries dust covers. It really should be the industry standard.
+Adam Kushner I couldn't agree more. It's such a pain trying to go back to mil spec dust covers.
Agreed
Very cool. I'm sold..
Thanks for the help!
Excellent!
Bought one of these based on this video. Excellent piece. Well executed. Shipping was outrageously fast.
I purchased the new style flag model ( but I prefer the look of the older flag model ) to put on my new Aero Precision M4E build and it does NOT work correctly!! The door barely spring open and seems weak. Knowing this couldn’t be right I took my weapon to 2 local AR builder shops who a told me it was a bad unit and to just use a regular dust cover. I have sent 4 emails to Strike Industries without a single response. I’m very disappointed in this product and the lack off customer service.
@@nmhvactech5474 Did you ever get a response from Strike Industries? Im waiting on my dust cover to arrive from Optics Planet and just happened to check out Strike Ind. online. They have a note saying it doesn't work on Aero Precision M4E1 uppers. Wish I had know before I purchased.
I purchased one in Dec. the detent baring popped out while shooting. The only issue is the customer representative gave me a hard time for not having a copy of the receipt. Still replaced it going to add a little locktite to that screw that keeps that baring in place this time.

Have the same glass in A aero precision mount in my 18 inch build can't beat it for the price got mine for 289 Great high magnification for the money I believe the HP models have the viper glass
Mine has been working well, but I've also had to send it in for warranted repair. That said, it's not bad for the price.
Nice build. I've got a faxon barrel like that but in 16 inch. I had to trim my gas tube about a quarter inch to get the bolt to go into battery. I only mention it cause it looks like your's was doing the same thing.
+Wlvrtnjm mine goes into battery fine, the BCG just needs to be worn in more. It only has a few hundred rounds through it at this point.
Awesome video. I watched a different video and it didn't tell you to give more tension to the spring.
Great info thank you
The old dust cover is really easy to remove if you don’t mind removing your rail/handguard
You have your scope mounted wayyyy to far forward 😉 good stuff as always bro! I just might have to pick one up for my new build I'm planning
+chipotlelover82 it makes life so much easier!
I bought one about a week ago but sadly it is still on backorder. I'm going to paint it with black spraypaint to cover up the logo then I will be putting it on my aero m4e1 upper receiver so it should look super sexy. I don't think I'll be using the rubbers! Didn't know that the detent was Adjustable so thanks that's awesome. Very glad I didn't buy the v seven dust cover before.
These are so stupid easy to use. I think you'll be very happy with it. It should work fine without the rubber bumpers, but it is weird just how quiet it makes the dust cover.
strike says on their website it doesnt fit the M4E1 aero upper... were you able to confirm this? i just ordered the ultimate dust cover and a standard Aero upper so im sure it'll probably work but it just kinda got me thinking.
Thank good sir! Jaut bought a used ar10 and dust cover wasn't working properly. I know why now and fixed it that's to your video
Dope upper!
+Highway 9mm thank you! I like it a lot!
Nice dust cover
Nice!
Thanks!
Ppu has a 125 gr. 300 blackout round ! A review would be awesome!!!
Is the Aluminum UDC as thick around the rod housing as the polymer one?? I hope its thinner since the aluminum is much stronger. I had to shave plastic off mine to get it in there and it still doesn't fit properly.
I'm having the exact problem with the plastic one you are I think. The springy detent end won't just pop into the hole an snap in place like its supposed to. I finally fore it in but it does not move freely. When I pull the charging handle, it slowly moves out about half way and stops. It's rubbing in places I can't see. Wish I never bought it.
Love mine!
Once you go UDC, you don't go back!
Angled end of spring pops out on me every time Dust cover closes and opens.
That's slick! I just built my first upper and that little c clip on the GI was a b*tch!
I just got mine on my savage msr 15 recon an it was my first time ever taking a dust cover off on an ar
An you are right it is a pain to take off but the ultimate dust cover with the flag on its nice
Mil-spec.....This detent and spring design will put premature wear on upper receiver.....Save your money......changing out a mil-spec design is not hard and they will last longer.....Toss that Strike snake oil p.o.s in the trash!!!!!!! They're just idiot proof.....
Holy shit! Fuck...... and I thought I was done buy shit for my ar's.......... after messin with a dozen or more old school covers this was a well thought out piece of kit, sooo many damn C clamp washers lost and sweatin over!
Why won't this work on an aero m4e1?
mine didn't fit my upper at all. wven adjusting the detent in the top. it was a spike tactical upper.
Thanks for the video! What airframe where you on?
F-15Es
Nice that it has those bumpers. That way you don’t hear the dust cover when you fire a round
Press checks are a thing, but I think it's mainly to protect the finish for people who care about that.
Interesting video...
The old school hand model videos were so funny to watch.. Just install the dust cover before you install the barrel and or handguard.
why is your scope bridged
Yep I have them on everyone!!!!
this is a great dust cover BUT the only problem is it wont fit on the Aero Precision M4E1 upper
In what way does it not work? Thanks to OreGear I found out something I didn't realize when I first installed it. The door would not stay closed. He showed how you can adjust the detent ball on the top. After making a quick adjustment mine is good to go. I'm wondering what problem you had with the Aero M4E1 since you don't go into detail about it ??
@@pistol777 no it just doesn't work
I like my old dust cover because it doesn't cost me anything and I don't have to do anything. It's already installed.
Clean mold release off part first (alchohol wipe) the other two stickers are for if you don’t. Wink lol
Mine is very loose they said add more spring tension but the I can't seam to get more than 2 spins out of it and there is still no tension...
If there's no tension, the spring may be installed incorrectly.
OreGear thanks for the response I got mine from a 3rd party dealer on sale for under 9 bucks so I may have got a bad one but I kinda want the aluminum one now anyway because I realized there are different ones after I got mine.
Ball bearing detent isn't strong enough, doesn't stay closed.
A bipod ?!?!!! 😂 😅😂🤣
long time no see brother you ok Nice 👍👍👍👍
Been busy with school. Hopefully I'll get back to 2-3 videos a week soon.
I did it! 😬
I dont understand why mine doesn't close
When looking at the cover in it's down position there is a little chrome nub. You are supposed to be able to push it down and use a screwdriver to tighten of loosen. Only thing is I don't know which way to turn it and I'll end up striping it if I try too much. I Might see a gunsmith or get my son to do it. He's got young eyes.
Can it be engraved?
I don't see why not
lol at final resting place..
Nice video, but one thing you didnt do is to uninstall the stock dust cover.
Agreed. If you're going to make a how to video, show uninstall to new install.
Why change dust covers? 🤨
Well why buy an AR when there are plenty of other rifles out there? Let people have their fun.
Why? Looks like gun bling
Can't get mine to close
You may want to contact Strike Industries
@@OreGear emailed them on Friday...still waiting on a response
American made yet?
Not to my knowledge
it's what i use on my ar builds my husband showed me and this girl is in love
BEWARE** Strikes Industries UDC gen 2 (aluminum version) doesn't work with AERO M4E1 Threaded Assembled Upper Receiver but it does work in their Aero Gen 1 version upper. I just installed in both uppers and chatted with AERO customer service and they claimed that their new upper are Mil-Spec but clearly it isn't from the field of view i'm witnessing- the clearance isn’t the same and I have tried installed in 2 different M4E1. AERO is offering to have it inspected, stay informed.
I have the standard Aero receiver (not enhanced) and udc doesn't work for shit. I'm pissed.
I'm curious, where does it not fit? Is it something I can file down to make it work?
Yep, get ur file out. I made mine work. File the sides around the pins , and the back where it goes along the receiver.
Not exactly the same, but I had a different dust cover with fitment issues with the M4E1, the V-Seven aluminum dust cover, and it only required a tiny bit of filing down of one corner to fit. The port edges, where the door fits inside of, is a smidgen smaller on the M4E1, and prevents the door from closing all the way.
Yeah, well I paid I think $12 for this UDC plastic dust cover and it just pissed me off I had to custom fit it for 15 minutes. I have a mil-spec cover I bought after all this for $6 that had no issues. I have 2 AR's. One doesn't even have a dust cover. Dust covers are "overrated".
So the tabs keep the dust cover quiet when the dust cover swings open when you FIRE A BULLET? lol
They are there to protect the finish of your lower. I purchased one of their plastic covers and it doesn't include the stick pads.
Found out the hard way that they only work 50% of the time. Looks good but don’t work properly. Stay stock
reduce the noise from the dust cover opening LMAO!!!! WTF is that. You can't hear when the round goes off.
These dust covers have a bad spring detent design and it will put premature wear on your upper receiver.......Mil-spec is designed to last and are just as easy if you take the time to learn.....
First up, why is your optic so far forward, half on the receiver and half on the non monolithic rail? How are you getting eye relief?? It doesn't look like you're buying junk equipment but you are putting your things together like you are someone who does buy junk equipment...
With that being said I had a Strike Industries dust cover and forward assist installed in a nice upper I won. Both parts failed and broke. Junk imo, too bad bc the aesthetic is good.
Pure 💩 💩 doesn't stay closed buy the one made by Magpul 😊
Mine won’t fucking shut this thing sucks
why didnt u make the video taking of the old dust cover smh ? that would be a more informative video
This thing SUCKS!!!!! Doesn't stay closed even after adjusting. The rubber pads DO NOTHING, they dont even contact anything at all.
Those things are crap and dont latch properly
Why can't people stay in view while demonstrating how to videos . Smmfh
Have you ever done it?
"Ultimate dust cover" is a stretch. If you want something that looks different then that's fine, but the marketing is gimmicky.
