LOL, "chevy BOY" living up to his name. The 300 may not be the most "bulletproof" engine ever made, but it's up there. The "egr/vacuum nightmare" is incredibly easy to solve if you don't live in a communist state. A common 350, might actually out live a common 300, but the 300 would take more neglect.
Totally worth the rebuild. Don't let that go to waste. I had the opportunity to buy a tan version of that truck for dirt cheap and couldn't bite on it. Best looking For series imo
Im amazed at how you guys can call this thing junk when its not rusty at all. I wish i didnt live in the rust belt. Love these old truck impossible to find in any condition related to this one. Sell it in the rust belt for 2000$.
Yea and these guys in the comments saying "it's scrap, part it out". Smh. The guys in the north would love to have this truck. Even if the engine is seized. As most would rather swap a drive train than rebuild a rusty body.
man, my 86 inline 6 carb 4x4 4spd is a rust bucket....would love that body. one of the best trucks ever built..period......ya boys, the rust belt is tuff....
Needs a lot of work, but looks like you have a parts truck along with it. Could be saved. Great bullet proof drive train. Most likely stump pulling gears. Knew a guy who scraped cars with an 88 F250 with same drive train. 4x4 low yank any car out of the weeds! Heavy car and trailer no problem.
Box is worth 1500 bucks all day up here in ontario. Rear axle been changed to a 9 inch. 86s had the 8.8. The np435np208 transmission n t case 400 bucks n desirable for off roaders. As for the 300 straight 6. Priceless if its a good one. Great engine tons of torque. Bit of work and thats a killer off road truck.
Reminds me of the 83 F350 I had back in 03 it was a 2wd 300 s6 3 speed auto only had 50k on it as it spent its life on a usaf base here in the UK .Was a great truck fitted it with an lpg kit & it gave it 25 mpg (lpg is roughly half the price of petrol in the uk) it would top out at 70 mph but tow anything.Once had the bed full of engs/boxes,axles etc & a falcon on a trailer & it just kept going.
Yes, 1980 was the first year for this body style and 1986 was the last year for the front end and dash for this generation Ford truck. We had a 1980 Ford F150 Ranger Regular Cab Longbed with a 4 speed manual transmission. When my parents bought it used in 1994, the truck had a two tone brown/beige paint job. They soon had the whole truck painted all white. The truck was pretty beat up. It was used as a work truck all of it's life. The truck had no radio, no air conditioning, broken hand crank windows and would run like crap during cold weather. The good news is that the power steering, manual transmission, brakes and clutch had always worked great. I may sound crazy for saying this, but I really miss that truck. Even though it was pretty beat up, but I still miss it.
I actually believe that 8.8 was more common in 80-86 model F150 and bronco. The 9” was common behind the granny low 4 speed which was common for the 300 six cylinder engine and 4x4. The 8.8 was common in V8 package and with the 4 speed overdrive and automatic transmission.
The body of it doesnt look too bad. It actually looks like a pretty good truck. Old but it looks alright. The interior could use cleaned up but other than that doesnt look too bad. How are you today Jay?
Jay Smart Gotcha and im doing alright i started a new Job today at the local Chevy Dealer here. It went well and it was a slow day today so we'll see how tomorrow goes. Hows your night been Jay?
Those were sweet trucks, tough and basic. Looks like someone used that one up. That was the lightest (and last) year of that body style. The 87s were aero headlamp and heavier for whatever reason.
That truck did a lot of work over the years. Most anything can be fixed, all it takes is time, money and work, in this case to much time, money and work. I had a 6 cylinder Ford pick up kind of like that... that thing sucked gas like it was free. It was geared real low, nice around town but terrible on the highway.
The steering column has one large plug under the dash, 4 bolts and the slip joint. You can find a good one with the key in it in most junkyards and avoid the headache of diagnosing that column. While youre there nab the door key cylinders and keep your truck all on the same key! I would love to find that exact truck, I'm having to build one instead!
That truck is definitely rebuildable. It's definitely a keeper with the 300 straight six, which is one of the best & most reliable engines that Ford ever made. Fix up the interior, rebuild the engine, get it mechanically sound, paint it, give it a bed liner, & you've got one hell of a workhorse.
That's a beautiful truck as it sits yeah needs some in cobbling but the body, and that was a 9 inch in the rear buddy that combo 4 speed 4wd is worth money to the right people
I had an '83 with the 300, but unfortunately it came equipped with the 4 speed manual with OD and a 3.08 axle. Ford was trying to wring every last mpg out of it, but was slow on hills and with a small camper. I traded it for an '86 with FI 302, automatic and 3:55 rear end. Night and day difference with a load.
I had an 84 with a four speed first gear was granny.it was two wheel with a straight six.it ran amazing but the frame was rotting out.that truck could pull anything.i wish I still had it.
The differential cover is not welded on, its a 9" axle, the Ring, pinion, carrier assembly removes out of the front of the axle. And they absolutely do put 4x4 on the 6 cylinder, we've got about a half a dozen of em on the farm.
It would take quite a bit of work to bring her back to roadworthiness, but she has a lot going for her in that straight body with little to no rust. Add the fact that she's four wheel drive and a four speed as well. You guys sell her yet? or did it get crushed?
I think it was 1985 or 84 when they switched from the F-100 to the F-150 nameplate. Pre 85 had a grill without the Blue Oval in the middle. BTW Is that a Chrysler New Yorker in the background?
Don't find that stuff here in South Jersey, been looking for parts trucks to rebuild my 86 F150 XL that is 2wd 302 fuel injection. bought a couple that were in poor shape and not a ton of good parts on any of them.
Jay, By chance do you still have that (what i presume Early 70's) C10 that had a cammed 350 in it? you have a video of it on your channel from like 3 years ago... If so can you tell me what has been done to that motor?
I have a 1990 Ford F150 that dumps all of my fuel from my rear tank to my front tank. My rear tank & pump are brand new, front tank & pump are old, & do not work. I've searched hi & lo for a fuel tank selector valve, but I promise, I don't see one anywhere, period. I was told there has to be one somewhere.. But for the life of me, there is not one on my truck. Could it be that I have a faulty fuel tank switch? Would that switch cause my rear tank to dump all of my fuel into the front tank? I've put my old fuel pump check valve on the new pump. If the switch isn't the issue, or there is a fuel tank selector valve hidden in one of those hard to find places, then what could be the issue? Is there a fuel tank switch relay? If so, would you happen to know where these things are located.. I'm really stuck.. I put $50.00 in my rear tank, went 5 miles, came back almost empty. Please help, this is a heavy concern.. Thanks in advance..
That Ford is well worth saving from the kick yard that model is few and far between not man's of those short bed 4×4 4 speeds and a straight inline 6 were not produce that year is well worth rescuing if I had been there for sure would have trailers it out of there and brought it home
That's my kind of Ford truck . Love the 60s to late 80s Ford's.
One of the best motors ever made period bulletproof
Its a good low end torque engine for sure !
Yup, just an egr/vacuum nightmare that will never ever run correctly, but she won't blow up...
Smooth...quiet...reliable...abusable...
Wrong 350 can't kill it 350 will out live that junk 300 and 300 to me is a dog no power no tq my 4.3 would chew that 300 up
LOL, "chevy BOY" living up to his name. The 300 may not be the most "bulletproof" engine ever made, but it's up there.
The "egr/vacuum nightmare" is incredibly easy to solve if you don't live in a communist state.

Totally worth the rebuild. Don't let that go to waste. I had the opportunity to buy a tan version of that truck for dirt cheap and couldn't bite on it. Best looking For series imo
U could find a key switch and wire it up then fill up the fluids then drop a battery in and see if starts up and runs
Love the Doug Demuro reference lol
Spur of the moment haha
Im amazed at how you guys can call this thing junk when its not rusty at all. I wish i didnt live in the rust belt. Love these old truck impossible to find in any condition related to this one. Sell it in the rust belt for 2000$.
Yea and these guys in the comments saying "it's scrap, part it out". Smh. The guys in the north would love to have this truck. Even if the engine is seized. As most would rather swap a drive train than rebuild a rusty body.
I'm in MN, and I can confirm an easy 2 large for this thing up here.
As someone else in the rust belt, you could easily sell this for $1000 missing title and seized engine. Titled would be even more
man, my 86 inline 6 carb 4x4 4spd is a rust bucket....would love that body. one of the best trucks ever built..period......ya boys, the rust belt is tuff....
The "parts truck" off in the distance is actually worth fixing more to me. Its got a beautiful interior and great running v8
Can't wait to see it.
Other truck sound great too! I would paint this one camo and make woods/ hunting truck., or good plow truck.
I think its rebuildable
Yep, she's way too clean to just smash. Th guys up in the rust belt would love to have this truck.
TheGuyAtTheWheel i live in NH and you cant find F150s this clean
Come scoop it up then!
I would pick it up but 1. I'm too young lol and 2. I'm from Texas
same im in NH too i was shocked how clean the frame was better than my 2002 f250!
300 Ford six. Awesomesauce. Sweet ride. 😊
Box is worth 1500 bucks all day up here in ontario. Rear axle been changed to a 9 inch. 86s had the 8.8. The np435np208 transmission n t case 400 bucks n desirable for off roaders. Yup. I picked up a 1983 running beater set up just like you described for a $1000. Looks like hell, but fixable with some patch panels.
My 1986 f150 lariat came with 9in rear end Windsor 4 barrel two gas tanks c6 auto

That's a 9 inch rear..dropout. 87 was first year for 8.8 in 150.
good to know !
I was going to say the same thing.
Geo Stanley I stand corrected. 83 was actually the first year of its use in ford vehicles. I've seen them more commonly in the f series 87 and up.
I had an 86 F-150 Stepside - 300 I6, 4 Speed, T18A transmission with granny low, and 3.08 8.8 inch rear. It was 2WD.
Normally the 4speed (granny gear ) was either a 300 i6 or a 302 and that was a Ford 9in rear
I have a 84 f150 with a 351w that has a 4 speed
Love these trucks, learned to drive stick in a truck just like this grandpa drove it till it rusted out wish I could have it back
That 300 inline! That sun nun beach run forever! Yip!😂😂😂😂
The body of it doesnt look too bad. It actually looks like a pretty good truck. Old but it looks alright. The interior could use cleaned up but other than that doesnt look too bad. How are you today Jay?
Its not the worst Ive seen, but this is "bad shape' for my area. Also, I'm doing just fine today, how about yourself
Jay Smart Gotcha and im doing alright i started a new Job today at the local Chevy Dealer here. It went well and it was a slow day today so we'll see how tomorrow goes. Hows your night been Jay?
Pretty awesome video . I like manual Windows better than electric because electric aren't very dependable
My frist truck was an 86 F150 with the 302 and AOD auto. It was a great truck. Never gave me one problem.
Yeah, you have to wonder how it uses so much fuel with such a small carburetor lol. Lot's of torque for pulling though.
I wouldn't get rid of that its rebuildable man I know this and I'm a Chevy guy come on now
Lets hope someone else thinks the same way then!
@@MXguy95 did it get saved or is it now scrapped
My dad had a 86 it was a tank of a trunk loved it
Jay you did not explain the 5 digit odometer
I did not, I have failed...
My best friend had that exact same truck with mud tires. It was absolutely unstoppable in mud
That knob that you pulled off and chunked was for the wipers
And costs about $15! I just replaced mine last week (87).
This truck would be a fortune where I live,y’all have no idea how lucky you are to be able to come across vehicles like this.
Looks like it'd make for a good project. a good engine swap candidate as well
Ugh 😫 l can't believe someone sold that for junk
The steering column has one large plug under the dash, 4 bolts and the slip joint. You can find a good one with the key in it in most junkyards and avoid the headache of diagnosing that column. While youre there nab the door key cylinders and keep your truck all on the same key! I would love to find that exact truck, I'm having to build one instead!
I have a blue one! I love it I’m currently working on it it’s sputtering in 3rd
Absolutely rebuildable or driveable as is! It's in better shape than my 94 thats still played and driven daily!
Night and day difference with a load.
Working there looks like a lot of fun. I wish I could work there with u. And you could teach me about cars
Actually 82 was the first year of the blue oval before lettering was on the hood
i hope you kept this one in some capacity. its too nice
Definitely rebuildable.
I had an 84 with a four speed first gear was granny.it was two wheel with a straight six.it ran amazing but the frame was rotting out.that truck could pull anything.i wish I still had it.
Very rebuildable
Love the bullnose style. I have an 85 myself
Great project truck
The body and frame look good
Thats a nice looking body on that truck. Drop a 302 in there do a little work on the inside, you would have a good truck. I like that year front end.
Let's see the Chrysler New Yorker/Dodge Diplomat/Plymouth Gran Fury in the background! You don't see too many M-bodies anymore at all.
I have some Taz floor mats just like those in my f150
The differential cover is not welded on, its a 9" axle, the Ring, pinion, carrier assembly removes out of the front of the axle. And they absolutely do put 4x4 on the 6 cylinder, we've got about a half a dozen of em on the farm.
I have one and it was fully on the ground and i rebuild it and it looks amaizing im just waiting to finish the paintjob💪
It would take quite a bit of work to bring her back to roadworthiness, but she has a lot going for her in that straight body with little to no rust. Add the fact that she's four wheel drive and a four speed as well. You guys sell her yet? or did it get crushed?
Is the other truck that came with it the same. What would you be asking for the pair and where are you located.
Can you do a video on that Fifth Avenue
Woooo i love those trucks 😍😍😍
2:27 . . . Pull it off and toss it aside . . . LOL!!!
How would you recomend getting a foot in the door at a scrap yard or junk yard?
Make a video on that 80’s sedan in the background. Looks like a 5th ave
Cool, rebuildable :)
Love me some bull nose F150 trucks. I would love to own that '86 myself.
I would get it running it’s a keeper
My 1981 but this will help me out lots
I think it was 1985 or 84 when they switched from the F-100 to the F-150 nameplate. Pre 85 had a grill without the Blue Oval in the middle.
BTW Is that a Chrysler New Yorker in the background?
83 F-150 first year with blue ovel in grill
Nice little truck, you missed the custom bolts sticking out plugging the smog pump holes On the head.
Was that 36/100 in the weekend category?
I'd give $600 for it just like it sits. Title or not!
Same, all day, too bad they're so far away.
Yup. Lots of good parts on that truck.
Don't find that stuff here in South Jersey, been looking for parts trucks to rebuild my 86 F150 XL that is 2wd 302 fuel injection. bought a couple that were in poor shape and not a ton of good parts on any of them.
Keep it!
Lol love the old guy.
Save it an swap either a 5.0 302 or a 351 I would daily that thing
smalltown boy97 The 300inline six is a great motor. Why swap it?
skileg10 I was meaning save it an drive it an if later on down the road he wants to change engines there the two options I personally would do
No replacement for displacement
Really nice car :O
Jay, By chance do you still have that (what i presume Early 70's) C10 that had a cammed 350 in it? you have a video of it on your channel from like 3 years ago... If so can you tell me what has been done to that motor?
Ok just found out it was your blueish 84 C10
what do you want for it whole?
Wiring on column is for turn signal.
Bumper to bumper warranty
That truck definitely went through the rough country sticker Jesus
In that shape still better than a modern car 😂
do you still have this and if so would you consider selling it?
I see the Lumina still there, how much for it?
I liked it .
Where are you located I would love to have that 90 F-150 Ext Cab truck Red&Cream I saw last week video of.
Facebook has a form on these 1980 to 1986 bullnose ford trucks
How much for the transmission
That was funny when you moved the volt gauge with your thumb!!😂😅 I would keep this one and who knows that might be the actual miles!!!
Careful, Jay...buttons aren't toys! That black one could have been for the ejector seat.
or a flesh light
How do you know it's a Reese hitch?
Grt vlog...love from india
I would definitely drive that thing
I wish I had a truck like that
This is my opinion, but it may have been stolen at one point. I am thinking that because of all the cut wires. Thank you for all the great videos!
What ever happens to that truck, take out those Tasmanian devil floor mats. Those are awesome!!!😀
I’ll take that 6 over any v8 hands down
Me too i had a 302 it was a peice of sht ford 300 is the best engine made
Love those bull nosed Fords
that a nice 4*4 truck
This truck is restorable and fixed it up
What are you asking for it?
Had a 86 f 150 good trkd
is for sale
Woo woo!
see if it will run
damn my dream car
That Ford is well worth saving from the kick yard that model is few and far between not man's of those short bed 4×4 4 speeds and a straight inline 6 were not produce that year is well worth rescuing if I had been there for sure would have trailers it out of there and brought it home
Got yourself a good one ...have fun you'll have it your entire life...better truck than a brand new bucket of electronic junk
