Just came back from a trip to Phuket. I decanted most of my skincare and hair care, took a 50ml sunblock and the rest like body butter and body spf, I bought in Phuket. I brought home the items I got in Phuket and they made it through airport checks though my can of Sprite didn't LOL. Love your videos btw, refreshingly different.
I’m so impressed by your talent at packing! I got overwhelmed just listening to your holiday schedule and all the different activities you had to plan for. You did a great job 👏🏻
Really enjoyed this Matilda! When I go travelling I take minis for short trips. For long trips I take full sizes - just because my long trips are almost always to my home country Bangladesh and I leave behind most make up, hair and skin care for my aunts, grandma and cousins! I take a few minis for the flights and might bring some back or just keep it bare necessities for the transit until I get home to Sydney (by which time I have an excuse to buy a bunch of new things after giving away some of my stuff) Edit to add - if my whole family is travelling I'll sneak my full sizes into my mum and dad's lugggage... oh and I have three brothers so many a face cream and lipstick bundle and eyeshadow palette can get packed on the sly!
I love organizing my skin/hair/body care for trips! Doing it right now for a trip to Mexico. Can't wait! My husband thinks I'm insane for bringing so many 'tubes' but I need them ALL!
Thank you so much Elena! You can find many previous manicure and nail tutorials if you use the 'search' icon on my channel homepage 😄💅 I need to film an updated detailed video on my process in future! x
I love your packing philosophy and tips, I follow these videos very closely! Decanting is so satisfying considering the weight of product bottles, never mind the cursed carry-on rules. One small caveat: like with sun screen, skin care products containing active ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid degrade when open to the air and shouldn't be decanted (and shouldn't be sold in jars either!). I always make sure I get a product that is available in minis for my skin care.
Oh, Lanolips! My favorite for dry split cuticles, chapped noses and lips, and minor road rashes from falling off my bike! I never travel on a plane, so I do not fuss to hard about decanting, but I do love sample sizes for that. I use Cetaphil baby wash for hair and body in the shower, and for face cleanse after I use a biphase makeup remover. Makeup ritual is very pared down: sunscreen for day time fun, followed by powder foundation, blush, and bronzer with a one&done shadow, mascara, and lip gloss for dinner. We usually go to a little beach town for bike rides and music. Very casual. Glad you enjoyed your travels this year!
Hi Matilda! I’ve really enjoyed your travel series. The tips are so useful and helpful, I particularly liked the one about decanting the leftover serum from a sheet mask into a reusable bottle. I’ll definitely be trying that one out when I next travel ♥️
MUJI's travel tubes are the best! The material is super durable and the various bottle designs are perfect 😆 my favorite part of travel prep is filling them up
would love to see an in depth review on the rhode products! I've been so tempted to try the cream, especially since in the colder months my eczema flares up and my skin gets a little angry
I always enjoy watching your videos, wonderfully calm and aesthetically pleasing. Although I’m probably twice your age so many of my favouring your makeup bag some I believe, from your recommendations. I try very hard to purchase travel sizes of my favourite products as I love to see my hotel bathroom are set out. I have been trialling some Korean skin care brands and they seem to have a great selection of trial size sets. ❤🇦🇺
I always try to decant my products when travelling but the containers I use always leak over everything in my toiletries bag 😩 Hoping to pick up some of Muji's containers because it sounds like they're pretty secure!
Great video! Love to see this!❤ I ate packing for travel because I think I overthink and spend a lot of time with it but the skincare and makeup travel bags are allways my favourite part! This summer I had no aeroplane trips but even so I always try to pack minis (even though it's always to much stuff for a non skincare junkie like us and I always feel a little bit embarrassed 😅).
Loved seeing all the minis and decanted version of your skincare, Matilda! You’ve done a great job streamlining it all for your travel needs 🥰 The NON spray and the Jo Loves fragrance gel pen look so interesting - I’ll have to check them out!
I wish it was even more streamlined Kat! I'm excited for my first family holiday in years this month that's just a short trip so it can be a return to a truly minimal skincare bag 😂💙 x
I was a bridesmaid for a destination wedding and I was away for 3 days. It was just a drive going there but with all the things needed for the wedding (my gown, shoes, bag, accessories, essentials), I made sure to minimize things where I can. Thankfully there was a HMUA for the entourage so I didn't have to bring my whole makeup setup and only bought a smaller everyday kit. I didn't want lug around too much even though I still do anyway. I bought travel squeeze tubes in different colours so I can organize and find what I need quickly. Pink for face (face wash & moisturizer), cream beige for body (body wash & lotion), and blue for hair (shampoo & conditioner) since I have bleached blonde hair I use purple shampoo & conditioner so the blue ones would be the best option for those. I will definitely put aesthetic labels on them soon and planning to decant more of my essentials so that I can have them wherever I go and I won't skip on my routine since consistency is key! I'm also planning to decant to even smaller containers to keep packed for quick overnight stays and emergencies! Sheet masks are so easy to pack for travel. I usually use the excess serum down my neck, nape, and décolletage but I'll do what you did and keep the excess serums in a container as well. I'm manifesting more travel, holidays, and trips for all of us!
How fantastic, I always put products into smaller containers. Pumps for shampoo/ conditioner. I've got mini containers of sunscreen and because I use to b a Clarins consultant I've got lots of 15 - 20 ML samples of other products for when I'm away ❤❤❤
Glad to hear you're a decanting fan too Rebecca! Just be careful if you mean you decant your 'mini containers of sunscreen' - it's best to stick to pre-packaged travel minis instead as the efficacy of sunscreen can be impacted by decanting it (i.e. you won't be as well protected in the sun) ☀️ x
Matilda, would you ever considering doing a kpop celebrity makeup bag? I feel like taeyeon and iu would be great choices for that series! I remember that the benefit cookie highlighter went viral because of taeyeon not too long ago
A well planned packing is very important! And a small weight scale. I'm mad that I bought mini products to use on flight but I had to throw them (among many other things) away because I went over weight limit :'( but to my defense, I was a year away and somehow acquired more stuff hehe
If I could go on a holiday just to buy spf I would!!! It seems the rest of the world does SPF better than the US and as someone who is pale as all can get (and forget sunburns, I get sun poisoning!) I would LOVE quality product! 😂 maybe one day! Until then, I will wear what I can get, stay out of the sun, and watch others use the truly good stuff! Love these videos! ❤
Love your videos and have been using them to help me pack for holidays for a few years now. Would you be able to share a link your your travel nail kit as I can’t seem to find it and it’s the one thing I don’t have prepared for holidays?
Enjoy seeing the videos and how you packed to cover several destinations in one trip. Wondering about the brand of the white travel bag you used? You also mentioned Country Road, I didn’t know they were still in business. I bought a bag there while on an Australian trip in 1992. Fixed it a few times but it travelled to many other countries with me before I finally stopped using it last year.
Thank you Erin! Absolutely, Country Road is still going strong - they're one of our leading fashion retailers and celebrating their 50th anniversary this year actually! The plain cream zip-up bag was a gift with purchase from an Aussie skincare brand called Zove a few years ago, but it's just a simple canvas bag so you might find something similar online 🤍 x
I’ve recently discovered that for shorter trips, the best way to bring the perfect quantity of serum is to pack single-use capsules (day and night) in a ziploc bag
You're a pro Shelley! Since Covid and airport disruptions, I haven't checked a bag for years either. I'd previously always gone carry-on only for weekends or trips under 7 days, but I fitted in so many summer outfits for 14 days. I'm a complete convert! 👏 x
Sophie is right Anna, luckily MECCA started stocking Nécessaire a couple of years ago! Not sure if they're in every store but you can use the 'find in store' button on each product page on the website to see if they're near you. I bought this mini Body Wash in a holiday set from MECCA late last year so I'm excited to see what's coming this season! 😍 x
What a thoughtful gift! I've given the Cicaplast Hand formula to my Mum before and she really enjoyed it, and I do too ☺️💙 Hope it works well for him! x
I just came back from a trip and security threw out my $70 custom conditioner! I was not happy, as they had said it was fine to bring non mini -sized items on board before.
I use my luxrul as a work bag and have had no issues at all. It’s a comfortable bag, fits a good amount and hadn’t lost its shape. With that being said, I also take care of all my bags and don’t carry a water bottle, pens, keys or anything that can damage the interio.
The list is long when it comes to pack for holidays isn't it? but I came to become a proud light packer myself over the years and years of travelling.... Solid shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste pastilles and body wash, decanted moisturiser and eye- neck rich creams, extra light makeup stick balmies from Axiology, mini travel sizes perfume from Ellis Brooklyn in Summer fruit and Salt, but ...😅full size deodorant from Salt and Stone, sunscreen and aftersun 😅for body and hair. You have never enough of that in the summer so...When it comes to nails I do them all 20 perfectly 1 day before embarking (I use the Manucurist clean care), so I wont need at all nail stuff) . Another thing a very good pair of tweezers and a very good quality razor for girls: they never leave me on holiday!😊❤🎨🛟⚓🖼️🖌️

Not the Sprite!! My favourite 😂💚 Thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it! Hope you had a wonderful trip x
Love this. It’s so much more cost effective and environmentally friendly to keep mini bottles and refill. I’ve been doing it for years.
Absolutely Sarah! A quick soak with dishwashing liquid means I can repurpose these Muji bottles with other formulas in future ☺️💙 x
I’m so impressed by your talent at packing! I got overwhelmed just listening to your holiday schedule and all the different activities you had to plan for. You did a great job 👏🏻
Thank you lovely! I think the skincare planning / packing might have taken longer than clothes 😂 x
Whenever these video notifications pop up, I drop what I’m doing to watch immediately!!
You are too kind! 🥹❤️ Thank you so much x
Same!

So generous of you to share those beauty goodies with your family back home Sabrina! I'm sure it's just one reason they love having you back 🥰 x
Watching on a flight, thank you Qantas wifi!! Perfect vibes :)
This might be the coolest way I've *ever* heard anyone watch Bec! So fitting 😂✈️ Safe flight! x
I just recently flew with Qantas and I couldn't get their wifi work on my phone ;(
