Even though Fnatic were swept 3-0 in semis against Royal Never Give Up, they managed to get early leads in several games. We break down how they did it, and how Caps sacrifices resources on roaming mids to make it happen.

I went 0/12 teemo mid, trashtalked by enemies and allies, still 20:00 and they're planning on surrendering, the enemies get comfortable and didnt took our 2nd turrets yet, so I planted all bombs I could so minions wouldnt push our turrets, while the 3 allies are playing shit and just being toxic, riven used that time to farm and we safely got to late game. allies saw a glimpse of hope and started cooperating then and we won.

I've always felt that Caps suit the LCK style of Mid, alongside perkz. this analysis is absolutely on point.
Caps was at his best at MSI, he was a god and he needed it cuz he was underwhelming when he went pro first.
But their mid to late game was terrible

That's a cool narrative, but with only 2 out of 6 of those games won it's a little hard to fully credit.
Four of their games were against RNG, and the majority of their losses were due to misplays in the midgame. The plan worked insofar as it let them develop pretty big early leads; they failed mostly because they wound up dropping the ball instead of capitalising on them.
Yeah that may be fair. One thing I would worry about with this is if there's a compositional change they could make to make their midgame easier that maybe they'd resist due to it precluding this strategy. But hey, maybe it was just an any given sunday thing and we'll see this strategy bring them victory next time.
to be fair. the bottom lane wasnt playing well in the MSI. Caps pretty much won every mid he matched up with, even against BDD, Maple or Xiaohu. I wouldnt count against him.

Yep it was a double edge sword that couldve end up with UZI destroying everyone. Plus sacrificing dragon.

just because he follows a gameplan doesnt mean hes a god lol. they have multiple pink wards in river so caps can roam freely. They put him on champions that can shove early so he can always have the first roam. Any pro player can do this easily.
And then came Rookie in worlds finals.

Hello, Blitz Esports LoL.
As you know, it's such a hassle to try to look for something on OP.GG every match. So we, Garena PH players would LOVE to use the Blitz app. Last month I was really excited to try this app but it wasn't available for Garena players. But then, having seen that Garena servers are available, I downloaded it again. But unfortunately it said that PH servers isn't available because of IP restrictions. So, is it impossible to use the Blitz app when you're from the Philippines or will you guys from Blitz make a solution? Thanks! :D -A concerned Garena PH player.

Can't remember exactly, I think it was some sort of RP top-up issue that didn't get any folllow-up. Anyway, I'm just a fan of the game now. Not planning to play again anytime soon. Besides, I'm just a Gold noob who only knows tank supports, and too much has changed in the game since I last played

Robin Valenzuela Blitz does not work in the Philippines server currently as the internet blocks anything from the outside, and blitz is hosted in the US.
It's possible we will support PH in the future, but likely not for a few weeks

So they highlight a strategy that only went 2/6? The strategy was not good and did not work
The strategy was good and did work, them losing had literally nothing to do with it
Then going 2 out of 6 has nothing to do with the strategy not working. They tailored a lot of their compositions towards early and mid game and executed well in order to get leads. They had trouble closing because they either got outscaled or misplayed mid game but this doesn't detract from their early game planning. They also faced RNG, the MSI champions, in 4 of these 6 games so naturally they're going to have trouble beating what was the best team in the tournament
Shadow thanks for the reply. If the name of the game is to win, then the strategy must lead to a win. This reminds me of a JG who goes 25/3/5 but his team mates are 3/9/2 and 2/7/1. The JG is strong but once dead, his team has no sustained. Good strategy to feed your JG but does it lead to a win. The only good strategy is one that leads to a win - all others are simply in-game tactics that are short-term wins.
Yeah but if you saw they matches, the mistakes they made were not related to the strategy they simply played poorly and against stronger opponents.
