Lol I love your humour, and agree with your perspective. I think an album isn’t just about writing it, but also majorly about the delivery, Beyoncé’s delivery on her albums are phenomenal, and the cultural impact of particularly Lemonade & Renaissance are unmatched. She contributes to the writing but doesn’t fully immerse herself into it because she did a lot of that during destiny’s child, to the point of winning the vanguard for songwriting award. Her focus since going solo has always been about her creative delivery vocally. I’d argue that songwriting has never been a bonus point especially in pop music, R Kelly wrote a lot for Michael Jackson, Whitney didn’t write, majority of legends didn’t write but their delivery is what dominated. So to me I value Beyonce more as an artist, because vocally she dominates & she’s already proven she’s capable of writing great songs. Taylor is a great writer but her delivery isn’t captivating, wether in the studio or on stage. Either way both are great in their respective fields, and I’m glad they have a great bond.

Exactly. Vocally, Beyonce dominates, and she's proven that she's capable of writing great songs as well. Taylor is a great songwriter but her vocal delivery is nowhere near Beyonce.

@@sinhueherrera8984 Beyonce doesn't write all of her music but she does write some of it. Her music is also extremely personally to herself so we can not say she doesn't write any of it. She also wrote a lot of Destiny's Child hits. I think people like to claim she doesn't write to discredit her but she is extremely involved in the production of her albums. There a many interviews with people who work with her who have described her process.

As a vocalist and performer, she is definitely stronger than Taylor Swift however as a songwriter (actually coming up with the music) Taylor Swift is much stronger.

Michael Jackson had lots of writers, Prince has written with and for other people.

Taylor's music is Kidz bop level and her singing is average.

I havent even listened to that album. but if it won, then yes, RENAISSANCE definitely is worthy of winning AOTY! & i say that behind SELF TITLED and LEMONADE! I don't even understand the criteria for the grammys. I always see the most random people winning awards that I've never heard of.
To me Taylor Swift's lyrics sound cheap, repetitive at times and it becomes more evident for me andspecially if you compare them to lets say Carole King, Sia, Diane Warren or Mariah Carey

I honestly don't feel like Taylor Swift's songwriting has matured since her earlier career. Her "eras" sound very similar to me. She definitely has some great songs. I don't see what's pushing limits or changing things. But Destiny's child Beyoncé is different from self-titled and 4 Beyoncé, who is also different from Lemonade or Renaissance Beyoncé.

Not a fan of hers but I'd say 1989 was pretty good on every field. It's the only album that I listen some songs of it, the pop she accomplish with that record is unique, at least imo. Can't say the same for her other albums tho

Sad day for haters! She is this popular for a reason, and the reason is because millions and millions of people resonate with her music. Her best music is not mainstream, they are the ones that compose her albums, brilliant songwriter, storyteller.

With Taylor looking like she's playing at being a "popstar Barbie" she switched from playing Country music "girl next door" type, then realized there was a void in pop music for the next Britney.
There's no way she could have gotten this big in country music because the competition is intense.

Yes, I did listen to these albums, which indeed are more mature in terms of lyrical content, but the vibe still feels Disney to me. Of course, I am subjective

@@r1tw1k sure, I agree, I might have not caught all the meanings behind her music, and quite frankly I did not intend to. If the music doesn’t sonically align with vibe/personal taste, I am usually not going back to it to dig deeper. I hope that I did not offend anyone with my comment, it’s just about my personal taste and Taylor’s music is just not my cup of tea. The only thing that bothers me a bit is that people try to compare Beyonce and Taylor, when they are clearly on different lanes. Also, this particular discussion was about Taylor winning 4 aoty, which I personally don’t think is entirely well deserved in comparison with the other nominees

The reality is that album of the year should’ve been Lana’s. Period. She made one of the best albums in YEARS! But black artist have always been ignored by the Grammys. Beyoncé should’ve won album of the year for at least one of her last two albums if not both.
But I thought Miley Cyrus winning record of the year was the only silver lining. Flowers is a great song.
