I don't care for award shows but anyone taking them serious should just chill.
This happens in every single industry. It happens with the Oscar’s, it even happens with The New York Post’s top 10 books of the year. Editors are skimming books, reading half of these books, then coming to conclusions based on what precisely? These industries need total revamps where the top voters aren’t comprised of majority white males. I’m glad society is calling attention to The Grammys by calling it The Scammys. This attention is sure to, at the very least, put industry executives under a certain amount of pressure.
How do you vote for best music period? You cannot please everyone anyway so no matter who wins, people are going to be pissed off.

Kendrick Lamar not getting a Grammy for "good kid, m.A.A.d city" was a crime. One of the greatest hip hop albums in a generation and one of the best albums of all time. Macklemore, who won over Lamar, even texted Lamar he thought it was a snub and GKMC was the better album.
Kendrick Lamar is overrated. I prefer the Macklemore album.

I am a fan of Beyoncé, but just because she didn’t win doesn’t mean she was snubbed.
There are a lot of famous artists who never received a Granny.
That's really not the point. One of the voters literally said they didn't vote for Beyoncé or Adele because they had enough. One voter said there was only one "real" musician nominated, and another said he didn't vote for bad Bunny because nobody knows who he is. None actually voted because of the music.

Since there’s no proper measure of what is “good music” besides production quality and cohesion, popular music IS good music, because a lot of people think it’s good. Just because Beyoncé has an album doesn’t mean she automatically deserves a Grammy for best album.
People highlight the few instances where someone didn’t follow the rules, but is that the norm? Is that the majority of the people who participate in the voting process?

I feel like Beyoncés best album tho has been Lemonade so far. If she were to win it should have been that album.
True, but out of the nominees this year it’s either renaissance or Mr morale and we know a rap album will never win AOTY at time so it was definitely the most deserving out of what was viable. It just especially stuck out this year that the weakest album of the nominees won, so it made it especially egregious.

Harry’s House got weaker acclaim compared to all the nominees, so it was definitely the weak point of the nominees . Moreover, being somewhat commercially successful is a precursor to get nominated in the major categories, but not the determiner for winning.

Harry Styles deserved the ALBUM OF THE YEAR award, it's just that there are sour-graping persons who just wanted to always have the award year in, year out. Yeah me too. Some of the songs on Beys album kind of stumbled into each other and sounds the same. Harry offered more diverse tunes.
I didn’t care for half of it. It in no way compared to Lemonade.
Well in my opinion harry's álbum do sound the same in parts its comercial and a bit fanservice wile other albums like beyone's or Adele's offerd something different out of the comercial or Safe spectrum and Putting on the table something much more artistic and raw Combining Daring sounds and real narratives

“Beyoncé’s best album snub”? 😭 Harry toured and promoted the hell out of his album, multiple music videos and always something new. I didn’t even know Beyoncé had a new album out until award season started and her fans started getting pressed. No hate for her but - I don’t know anyone who listened to her new album, but everybody knew at least 3 songs off of Harry’s album. He deserved it this year. Just because he’s a white man doesn’t mean he didn’t earn it.

I will say that for The Oscar's specifically (maybe I've just gotten older) but the last few years, some of my favorite movies have been nominated (ex EEAAO this year).
I don't necessarily think that them getting awards makes them the best films of the year, but I do check them out and add a few to my watchlist.

Absolutely! Not to mention his album is great. Don't get me wrong I like Beyònce but I only enjoyed 4 songs on Renaissance. Harry's House was a no skips album for me. Taking home 4 Brits including album of the year a week after winning AOTY at the Grammys ain't an easy thing to pull off.
And I'm proud of British fans and peers for treating him with the respect that he deserved because America and Beyònces fans were horrible. Beyònce has 32 Grammys so all of the whining her fans are doing over her losing out is childish. Also, no one's entitled to AOTY for simply being a black woman. People preferred Harry's album over Beyònce and folks need to accept that, grow up, and move on.

harrys music grow on you. I first started listen to him after seeing a compellation here on YT, 'the difference between harry and other celebrities'. that took me to look inte more of his music and after hearing falling at the brits i was hooked. his first album with little 70 influenced indierock fit me perfectly. i cant believe i didnt hear of him sooner. then ive started listen to fine line, and I love golden, adore you, Canyon moon, cherry, she, fine line and tpwk. it started with few songs and then it became more and more. it was a small chock when Harrys house came out because it was a newer pop, more electro influeted but still with a old rock influeted vibe. The first songs i liked were little freak, grapejuice, cinema and keep driving. But now ive listen to the hole album and enjoying it. he really gives my music taste a challenge and open up my mind to the more newer and modern sound. I really love that he doesnt stick to a genre and that he continues to float between the genres and that he takes inspiration from the old times. plus he really has great, deep lyrics. they are slighly depressive but with the music you get happy to listen to them. again i live the contrasts!

What is good music or not is up to one's opinion. A good song to one person could be a bad song to another.
Quite true. However, how can you say that you believe that one song is the best song (out of those nominated) despite not listening to all of them. Imagine being a judge and picking a winner without paying attention to all of the contestants. Then, by default, your opinion as a judge becomes invalid. You can't possibly know if that song or album is the best because you didn't judge all of the options.
I partially agree. Music is subjective, but only when the quality is equal and the style is different. When there are differences in quality, saying “music is subjective” doesn’t mean anything. Whether you enjoy the song or not is subjective, but not whether it’s a good song or not. For example, a toddler’s drawing obviously can’t compare to a professional artist. The toddler’s mother might enjoy it more, but that doesn’t mean the drawing’s merit is “subjective.”

I get really tired of Beyonce and her fans thinking she should automatically win a certain award. I also dislike saying a specific artist who is white gets favored treatment. Example: Harry Styles. I don't know much of Styles' music. However, I listened to his latest album a lot and thought he deserved to win. No matter what color his skin is, what gender he is, how old he is, or any other bullshit category. STOP!
We don’t think she should automatically get the award 🙄 she obv worked hard on this album and it was so culturally impactful for the black and queer community. The overall quality of the album was excellent as well so she deserved that award too. The point is that as good as Harry's House was, Renaissance is almost universally considered the best album of the year, just like Lemonade and Beyonce's self-titled album before that. And yet every single time a white artist has won over her. She's one of if not the most influential and acclaimed artist of the last ten years and yet she's never won in the big categories. If it was a one-time thing it wouldn't be a problem, but when it happens time and time again to Black artists it looks really, really bad. Just because you personally like Harry's album doesn't mean this isn't a problem. (Hell, Taylor Swift's 1989 is one of my favourite albums ever and yet I still think it was a crime that it won Album of the Year over Kendrick Lamar.)

The number of times songs are streamed and purchased should play into his, the people vote with their dollars. It should be a percentage of the vote.

Oscar's or Grammys have completely has taken it to another level...it's all about power and decisions makers, it's not about respect,talent integrity. What Oscar's and grammys stand for...its very sad,because I love the music industry so much..but I am very disappointed. It's not all about Beyoncé at every Grammy. The music landscape has changed, and it's time to credit new artists who have proven themselves. While she's a great singer, Beyoncé doesn't consistently create music reflecting the current generation. Thus, it seems fair to award other deserving artists.

If you don’t receive nominations, it does not mean everyone else doesn’t deserve it. Imagine the elders have to listen to those music in order to cast a vote (with curses, hatred, and violence). Above all, this is still a traditional award… that’s why it’s prestigious.
I'm just really confused because Bonnie Rait won and I haven't met one person that has listened to even one of her songs

The center of the earthquakes was Kahramanmaraş, but Adıyaman, Hatay, Malatya, Gaziantep and many other cities were also affected deeply. The number of dead people exceeded 9000, and there are still a lot of people under wreckage. Also, the people who were saved from the wreckage are hungry, thirsty, and so cold. I like some of Harry's songs! But did he REALLY deserve album of the year? And does Beyonce always need a Grammy for just showing up and being Beyonce? I'm honestly glad Bonnie Raitt won that.
