It's like some studio had animated some scenes for an anime they were planning to make, that would have had an extensive and well-connected plot with several twists, then through some unfortunate event, lost the rights to make it. Then they were like "Well shit, we have do SOMETHING with these clips."
Whenever my life gets confused, or I don't know what I'm doing or where I'm going, I just watch this video and realize that it could be so much worse. God bless you, MAN.
Jesus, from now on if anyone asks me for the definition of schizophrenic I'll just point them to this video. Oh, and when "Landolf" came on the screen I thought "Calrissian"
I think I figured it out, there are scenes where you have to immediately shoot the bad guy, then it shows them dying, if you shoot somebody who wasn't a bad guy, then you get that scene where the main character turns blue, and you lose a life, if you die (I mean get shot), it counts the scene as finished and moves on to the next one, or the Long Player was skipping the part where he screwed up. Also if Road Avenger was anything to go by, the cutscenes were in order.
I'm pretty sure the scenes being a jumbled mess is because of incorrect emulation, it's "seeking" to the wrong spot in the laserdisc file, so things happen like killing the last boss ("YOU WIN!") but then having the cougar scene play right after.
@@LordBBH Hahaha, I was just taking some time to enjoy some good 'ole Retsupurae. I appreciate the follow up, have a good one, amigo, I followed you on Twitch.
I've got some kind of psychological damage because now every time I see the name "Konami" I reflexively say 'Fuck Konami" to myself like I've been conditioned to do it.
For anyone who's interested, the gimmick of this game was that it could be played using a single button. This is most evident in the ending where you have to push the button while the game scrolls the alphabet. The entire game is a QTE-fest but there are actually no UI prompts on the screen, just crap happening. If you don't press the button EXACTLY when a threat appears, you get shown a matching death scene and then the generic hospitalization scene/game over angel thing (cont.)
I just want to point out that the game over screens are messed up too. When the animation finishes playing, there's a single frame of the next game over screen before it returns to gameplay.
I looked up other videos of the game, and I don't think that is the case, it seems the game randomizes which scenarios you get, as all the other videos have the game in a random order, sometimes you get the last boss before the dinosaurs, this video pretty much covers every scenario you can get though.
wow this was really hard to watch, the transitions were so fast and jarring I couldn't comprehend what I was seeing before it was over let alone react to it.
As a CADD/CAM engineer in training, I can confirm that copy and paste (and mirror, god I love mirror) are, in fact, a designer's best friend. Just throwin' that out there B-)
And now again on a very special episode of Konami (with the oldschool bullet logo I don't remember at all until I saw this the first time. Then again it came out in 1984 two years after I was born.)
Actually, I think what's happening is the game expects you to push the shoot button on criminals. If you do it soon enough, you get a scene of them dying, but if you don't, the game gives you a death scene... So, basically the game is a DVD menu. Whoo.
Oh, good point. I didn't think of that. I thought the flashing scenes were flicker as the game tried to load the next scene and failed, but it could be, as you put it, a skip scene feature so it was just showing the scene for a brief second until the longplayer skipped to the next one. Either way, I really have to wonder what the full story of this game is.
I'm gonna go ahead and say that the blackouts are the laserdisc accessing new tracks. However, it was obviously poorly done, as Dragons Lair didn't have that many blackouts every few seconds.
Not sure if I like this or Soldier Boyz more. Anybody help out? Probably this because I love old games, but Soldier Boyz really was a piece of work. Both made hilarious RPs.
OH SHIT, a fan for 1 whole year, man you must of been a true die hard orignal fan, cause you know, diabeetus and slowbeef haven't been doing stuff since 2005 or anything let alone retsupurae around 2007

James Koch Yep, that's a video game!
6:12-6:26
"Gimme a drink, Bar-tender."
"Thirsty....THEN EAT GUN LOSER!"
"I NAME IS-" *shot*
Then the bearded guy from Time Gal Laughs.
Wait a minute... 1:39 bottom row... it's Garcia from Last Alert! His crimewave goes back further than we ever knew!

The setting of Town With No Name, the plot consistency of Earnest Evans, and the "gameplay" of Ninja Hayate.
It's the ultimate Wrongpurae potpourri.

"For no reason!"
When the attract mode is more coherent than the actual gameplay...
And the attract more fails to do so.
I like how the initial select thing at the end is also a quicktime event.
Jesus, from now on if anyone asks me for the definition of schizophrenic I'll just point them to this video.

is this fallout new vegas
No it's battletoads.
this isn't xenogears.
Its Metal Gear Solid

Surprised I hadn't seen this before.
Glad I finally got to.
Need Aspirin now though.
OW MY BACK! A cowboy time traveler story?
2:10
From this point on, I literally thought I was having blackouts.
My favourite character was the lady going on a gun picnic.
Town with No Name 2: Andy Von De Oniyate Takes a Holiday

I love it when anime tries to do the old West. It's hilarious.
Why does UA-cam think this is Pokemon Stadium?
That's not what this is?
The Pokémon series started pretty different back in the 80s, then?
Somehow this game has a lot less cohesion than Time Gal. I want everyone to realize that.
A truly riveting tale, filled with heartfelt cutscenes and a glorious conclusion.
I lost it when the bartender drew a gun.
I've got some kind of psychological damage because now every time I see the name "Konami" I reflexively say 'Fuck Konami" to myself like I've been conditioned to do it.
This is the kind of game you see a character in an anime playing in the background when their in an arcade.
Oh wow, you guys actually took my suggestion. I'm flattered.
Listen: Billy the Kid became unstuck in time.
"Come back, Shane!"

Hard to believe this was a prequel to Sunset Riders.
When is this game getting its own Pachinko machine
He looks like Flint from Mother 3, but without the mustache.
And the awesomeness.

I love how I could tell this was a Time Gal/Road Avenger style game just from the explosion in the thumbnail.
This is probably the best video name the Diabeefus has come up with.
When is Konami gonna make a pachinko machine based off of this?
I believe he's shooting dinosaurs because someone watched _The Valley of Gwangi_ and assumed it was a documentary.
wow this was really hard to watch, the transitions were so fast and jarring I couldn't comprehend what I was seeing before it was over let alone react to it.
Space cowboy from the past comes to save the day in a wacky western comedy.
is it just me, or is that an Easter Ilands head at 3:24?

I love how you get ten points for every second you play the game. It's like it knows it sucks, so it has to compensate for it.
0:57 Wow! Kionami.... I love this company!
This video gave me whiplash.
Possibly the most wat game ever made.
And now again on a very special episode of Konami (with the oldschool bullet logo I don't remember at all until I saw this the first time. Then again it came out in 1984 two years after I was born.)

With the Back to the Future font, I presume?
So, we're going to see ALL the games on the platform, I assume?
The cougar was a death roll.
6:40 - 7:00 I had to pause the video, I was laughing too hard to hear what they were saying anymore. XP
So is the prequel to The Town With No Name? Or just where On-line Interactive got inspiration for wanted posters?
Third in the series that gave you "A Fist Full of Quarters" and "The Man With No Logic"
I don't think any posters were repeated, but they are all very, very samey.
This IS a full playthrough, after the ride into the sunset it's just a few random scenes until you die

still better than that new Magnificent Seven movie
"True Shit 2"
-Another- QTE arcade game? How many of them -are- there?! Dragon's Lair, Road Avenger, Time Gal. and now this.
Wow, Fergus has really outdone himself.
It's like that cougar attack predicted Red Dead Redemption.
This video is 10 minutes, but after watching it, it somehow feels like its been 30 seconds.
Now I'm missing the action command and he's an upskirt angel, OKAY!
I'm gonna go ahead and say that the blackouts are the laserdisc accessing new tracks.
However, it was obviously poorly done, as Dragons Lair didn't have that many blackouts every few seconds.
Quite a few-Dragon's Lair was popular, and started a trend.
A time-travelling Cave Story fan!
Was the first part inspired by "The Town With No Name"?
so the preset of the highscore couldn't make it past the first quicktime event? that bodes well for the playability of this game.
I've not laughed this hard in ages, thank you guys!
Sooo...is this Dragon's Lair with only one button or something?
I feel compelled to know the name of this song.
Where do the dinosaurs fit in?
This is still better than Cowboys and Aliens.
6:03 A theme that truly rivals "Man with A Hamonica"
They made a video game version of Liminal States by elpintogrande?
I really like the music.
Uh oh! Looks like I'm gonna have to jump!
The advice ones, or the derp ones?
5:47 - Why did that dog make the same bark as the dog from Fist Of The North Star?
Get Will Smith on the line, we just struck gold for the plot of Wild Wild West 2: Wilder and Wester
What do you have against people with aspergers
You've been doing a lot of these Laserdisc titles recently. Are there any you think are actually good?
So wait... did he really win? Was that cougar and knife guy the bonus round, or was that just Part One of this flash-forward adventure?
So which one of these guys is Evil Eb?
It took me three minutes to realize this was the game and not the demo thing.
I like how slowbeef didn't get the Mexican Big Boss joke
Have they done anything in regards to Deadly Premonition yet? They could probably play through and just post highlights of the most ridiculous parts.
This made perfect sense to me. Why I am a dragon and why I was watching this on a rowboat to Indonesia is confusing me.
Not sure if I like this or Soldier Boyz more. Anybody help out? Probably this because I love old games, but Soldier Boyz really was a piece of work. Both made hilarious RPs.
Badlands: If you're playing it right, you can't see anything.
It was nonsensical, over the top and I felt like I was having LSD induced amnesia throughout.
10/10
I still think that whole think was just the intro. Though even that wouldn't explain the inconsistencies very well.
Is there a video where someone beats the game?
What was the plot again?
Is this what Cowboys vs. Aliens was based off of? Great choice of source material.
I just realized the woman with the picnic basket was on the wanted poster.
Kjonami?
