Branches, plural... the AH64F and UH60M were there on behalf of Sikorsky, but were US Army machines. Also the KC135R there was IA ANG operated.
@Luke That was the last overseas airshow (in the Pacific) for the F-15C. They are being withdrawn from PACAF (Although they will probably serve another decade in the ANG). Unfortunately no display qualified pilot was available for the show.
@AudioJellyfish We've seen the BONE a few times too... and they are routinely a maintenance nightmare on the road! We were meant to get a Spirit, but they are grounded at the moment (excepting operationally required flights) following an incident.
Reminds me of when I went to the Farnborough trade day in 1986...and saw the prototype of the Eurofighter take off... It was loud!!
Glad the Avalon Airshow is back. I was born in Geelong and lived in Corio just down the road until I was 21. My dad was a foreman at Avalon (Called GAF back then) for a long long time and we used to get free entry every year. The last aircraft he was lead-hand on building was the F/A-18 Hornet which personally, seeing as I got to ride in one off the USS Carl Vinson Aircraft carrier back in 1990 is still the most beautiful aircraft ever produced. Prior to that, dad was working on the F-111, Mirage, Canberra bomber and the GAF Nomad (STOL). Great video thank you, it brought back many memories.
Whenever someone says Avalon is part of “Melbourne” anyone from Geelong (like me) is 😬🙄😂 great video. How good it is to have it back. The Black Eagles from South Korea were AMAZING! I went to the airshow each day but live in Lara right near Avalon so get the planes flying right over me even if I’m at home! Craig

Caught a glimpse of the South Koreans flying past Melbourne CBD with the RAAF the other day. So damn cool!
Best air show I've been to was at Greenham Common in the early 1980's before it was used as base for Tomahawk cruise missiles. There was a very noisy pass by with a Phantom jet. And three Huey Cobras came over the hilltop from the valley. Also B-52, Harrier, Skyhawk, Bronco and Jaguar. I think Greenham Common is now abandoned.

Pausing at about 2 minutes in because when I was 7 years old one of my first real PC games was my Dad’s copy of F-19 Stealth Fighter by Micro Prose!
Over the years I've had several Trade Day Free Passes that gave my and my colleague special access to much of the aircraft company product (Mainly Aircraft). Keep up the good content Stefan. v much enjoyed.
Got to see the South Koreans on their ferry flights come through Rockhampton on their way to and from Avalon. So cool to see them take off in groups.
Went there today and it was a spectacular show the black star was the best show yet especially when that one stray one came out of no where and flew barley 100ft over ur head absolutely amazing

Great to meet you today(the random bloke in a KC lights hat), I agree it is so nice to see the airshow back and hopefully in 2025 it will be even larger. I have been lucky to go to farnborough airshow and the Shoreham airshow in the UK, both of these were great( for different reasons) but Melbourne’s is so well setup and run for all audiences.. my favourite was the Japanese’s Kawasaki C-2 transport aircraft.

Couldn’t make it down this year - please keep on posting! I flew a display aircraft for Lightwing in the 1992 air show.
I was there on the Friday and we spoke too the C-17 Globe Master Pilot and she was lovely. I’m pretty sure she was in the Air Force for 7 or 9 years we met two people so I can’t remember…
I used to go to every Airshow at Biggin Hill, it was one of the highlights of the UK Airshow season. Sadly they stopped it a while back, the only show worth going to in the UK now is RIAT.
I did a bit of work on those Phenoms they are really nice, hard to work on sometimes but really nice.
How good were the Black Eagles... put the Roulettes to shame! Hope they come back for a future show.
PS look around for the footage of the secret sneak pass they 'added' on Sunday... wow that was low!
VH-8AT is based at Moorabbin, see it getting about in the run up bays from time to time.

Hahaha “Gunship” I had exactly the same experience and now have my ppl. So cool to see the graphics again, remembered it like yesterday.
I spent hours on that when I should have been doing homework.
The Embraer demo plane is called “Profit Hunter” just because the model is supposed to have very low operating cost, so be very profitable to airlines to fly.

I played Gunship on my Amstrad CPC-464 growing up in Adelaide. Good lord that takes me back.

Had a gold pass for the 2019, 40C day... bailed before the flying section. Way to hot with little to no shade areas
My husband is currently working there. He works in the RAAF fixing the super hornets. Was lucky enough to get to watch him fly in the back of one a few months ago.

Didn't know you'd flown in a Bushcat, I will try to find that video. Errol and his team DONATED a Bushcat kit (and their time) at Airventure 2019 for 25 school students, including myself, to assemble over the week leading up to the airshow for a maiden flight on the Sunday. It was such an amazing opportunity and very inspiring. It was great to see them again at Avalon and have a nostalgic sit in the Bushcat on display there, thanks Errol and team!

I was in school and heard the Korean display team fly right over us in Sydney. Of course they weren’t on flight radar so I had to eagerly wait the entire rest of the school day to figure out what in the world was happening.

went to the sunday show yesterday with my dad, always a good time checking out the static displays, got to check out the Hanwha defence redback IFV which was hidden up the back by some of the general aviation stuff right at the back of the 3rd convention hall i believe, that was really special since my dad works for Hanwha and worked on the redback itself, but absolute highlight of the show had to be the korean black eagles, they had an incredible display and they had fun with it like when everyone was concentrated on almost their entire team doing a manoeuvre one stray on their team buzzed the crouch going super fast and very low, scared the shit out of every single person in the crowd lol
It's called the sneak pass. Blue Angels and Thunderbirds do it as well. Gives everyone a good fright.
Hi Stefan enjoy your videos. My sons girlfriend and her 13 year old son were in Perth in Late January competing in the World Marathon Challenge which is 7 Marathons in 7 Days on 7 Continents of which the both competed and completed.
Hey Stef just think about how much more having something like a vision jet would profit your channel! And just flying in general. It opens up a whole new scheme for you in the things you could do! ( basically what im saying is get a vision jet because i can’t😂)

Visited yesterday (RAAus Trade Day pass) and enjoyed the exhibits. More GA and light sport aircraft please. I would ride a bicycle if I were to go on the weekend. Road access still atrocious.
I'm excited for the sun and fun airshow march 28 the f35 A is gonna be there i can't wait I never seen one fly in person before so it's gonna be sick to see.

Bruh they didn't have an abrams this year unlike the 2019 Avalon airshow, what a shame, nonetheless, nice to see the F-22 up close and an apache this year too, Korea's black eagles were beautiful.

I heard that Jetstar are going to continue operating their commercial services out of Avalon during the air show so we might still see some A320s if no other commercial company comes down.
Yes Jetstar have a few movements during the day in and out of Avalon. If you attend at the weekend you should see some of those.

@@StefanDrury Attended Friday and Saturday, on Friday night they let off some fireworks right before an A320 was scheduled to leave so they had to inspect the runway before letting it depart.
