- Welcome back to the Pumpkin Patch and welcome to DRAGONCON!!! The worlds largest multimedia convention. DragonCon happens over Labor Day weekend in beautiful Uptown Atlanta #atlanta #atl
Ride with us today as we explore what it’s like to navigate through the actual infrastructure of this grand convention and experience.
In this video I’m going to take you through each of the HOST HOTELS to see what it’s like to navigate them. Getting from Hotel to Hotel the easiest way possible to try and help acclimate you to the madness that is Nerdy Gras.
I’ll be showing the Habitrails (aka Sky Tunnels) and how to use them to get to places. Including the DragonCon infamous “SECRET FOOD COURT”. Showing you where you’ll get your badge, showing you where to show off that awesome Cosplay you probably finished the night before Con, showing where to party at and how to get from place to place the most efficient way possible. Using the streets of Atlanta as little as possible (for those wanting to stay in the bubble or just needing an easier route).
I’ve been wanting to make a video that helps new attendees to DragonCon get around for quite some time. Maps are great but a living breathing video showing you what it will ACTUALLY be like (with people, party goers and revelry included). This is what it’s like to go through Con while Con is happening.
Also in this video, if you’re missing that #Dragoncon life, there is plenty of sounds and action included. This is the living breathing DragonCon that people gain over and miss all year long. So I think it’s safe to say there is plenty of ASMR to be had here. Hopefully you’ll enjoy reliving Sunday at DragonCon!!!
Let me know if you have any questions about what attending DragonCon is like and what you would like to see in the future. It is a crazy and hectic experience to be sure but one that doesn’t have to intimidate you. My hope is that this video makes DragonCon more accessible to all attendees. And who knows…maybe if you’ve been multiple times I showed you a short cut or a piece of info you didn’t know yet.
I’ve been attending DragonCon for the past 17 years straight so I know my way around the place. I’m constantly the one giving actual directions to people on the street and I’m hoping that this video can help you be the one people ask where to go next Labor Day.

= Bit of housekeeping about this video. I mention at the beginning of the video that Dragon*Con takes place in Midtown Atlanta. Some have pointed out that D*Con takes place in Downtown Atlanta instead. As someone who is not a resident of Atlanta I spoke with the hotels in the video (Sheraton, Hilton, Hyatt, Westin and Marriott) and all the management said that their hotels ( and subsequently Dragon*Con) are located in Midtown not Downtown. I am not aware of how defined or nebulous what is and isn’t Midtown vs Downtown so I used the location I was told and was requested by the host hotels. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding about the verbiage used in the video. So either I was misinformed or the urban landscape has changed and where Dragon*Con is now is called Midtown. Either way I stand by what I said because I live by the creed “Get it Right, Don’t Be Right”. I always assumed it was located in Downtown but when told otherwise I went with what was told to me by all 5 hotel. Hope that helps. Sorry for not mentioning that in the video at the beginning.

Cause the more time you waste finding your place the less time you have to enjoy yourself. We only have so many hours at Con.
Great video! I remember that rain. I had to walk from the Sheraton in that rain without an umbrella. I had a panel in the Hyatt, so I walked into the Hilton and used the bridges to stay out of the rain, but by then I was already soaked.
Glad you enjoyed it. It doesn’t rain often at Dragon*Con but when it does…man you get soaked. You had a pretty long trek too. Hope you still had a great panel!!!
@@TheFallHorsemen I did! I was soaking wet but the panel room's AC dried me out quickly enough. I just finished the video. You did a great job of hitting all the high spots. It makes me excited for con this year.

There’s no way to get ALL the Dragon*Con info into one video but I was hoping to impart some knowledge that I picked up over my decade plus experiences there.

Awesome one messed with you I live here one block from Sheraton it’s downtown not midtown :) thanks for the video lived here for ten years but never went to dragon con we normally stay home traffic is bad. But just bought tickets for Saturday and will be our first time.

Dragon con is downtown atlanta, mid town is next to Piedmont park
As I said in another comment it’s my fault for not clarifying it in the video but I added it to the description.
I say that’s it’s located in Midtown because the hotels requested that. When I spoke to all 5 host hotels they said they were in Midtown.
Sorry for the confusion but I only reported what was requested by the hosts themselves.
@@TheFallHorsemen you'd think people who work in atlanta would know better. might be trying to avoid the stigma of being in downtown, midtown is more "fancy"

Oh the Sheraton. For what it’s worth I have a video tour of the rooms now that it’s the Courtland Grand or whatever? I was going to release it right before D*Con. I still miss the smell of the Westin soap for some reason. It’s like a con scent to me. But soon? Are you going this year?

Thank you for saying that. I have a new video touring a room there now that it’s become Courtland Grand coming out really soon in time for D*Con. I definitely should add that detail to the description of the video as an update.
You canNOT buy tickets for next year at the con shops. Since last year, it is online only.

Starts with "Welcome to Midtown, not Downtown, don't confuse them".. as he does in fact confuse them. Dragon Con is in downtown in the "Hotel district" Midtown usually refers to the area from North to 18th st.
Thank you for pointing that out. I have always referred to that area as downtown but when I filmed this I spoke with the Sheraton, Hyatt and Marriott and they all said the area they are located in is Midtown. Sorry for the confusion but I was using the actual hotels as the reference for that. I probably should have specified that in the video (that’s on me) but that’s why I said that. So if you feel there is any level of confusion then speak with the Host Hotels. They requested the information be delivered like that. Thanks for watching!!! Hope you enjoyed the video!!!

We didn’t make it to Dragon*Con in 2023 (our first in like 15(?) years) so I don’t have a video coming out. Sorry about that. We had a lot going on then.
How do I find the secret food court?

What day of the con was this? Based on crowd levels, it looks like Thursday or Sunday; but things don't look "to' up" enough to be a Sunday.
It actually was a Sunday. I thought I said that in the video but I probably didn’t. That last shot of the Westin (and the closing) from outside is done on Monday though. I had to wait to do the pick up shot the next day. But the rest was all done Sunday afternoon.
