I don't know what happened to the Best Actress category. They snubbed Viola Davis & Danielle Deadwyler for Andrea Riseborough and Michelle Williams. This was a huge slap in the face.
@kassiogomes8498- Deadwyler may have had the backing of a movie studio but no support among her acting peers. I’d always assumed that members of the acting branch were not allowed to publicly endorse another actor who is campaigning (unless they are professional involved in that movie). It seems like the voting block of black actors were less willing to blur the lines of an unspoken but widely acceptable Academy rule than the voting block of white actors. At least, that’s how I’ve interpreted the situation.
I had top gun winning cinematography and the whale winning screenplay in my gold derby predictions and both didn't get nominated for either award but over all I got 72% correct on gold derby
Pretty ticked Felix Kammerer didn't tag along with all the All Quiet nominations. He carried that movie and easily should have been nominated over Nighy or Mescal. It's nice to see the Academy give international films more attention outside of International Feature, but we still haven't seen a breakthrough in the acting categories even after Parastie & Drive My Car. Such a shame.
Hi Austin, just writing to say I appreciate you. Tried to find a movie critic who has a true love of good movies and isn't afraid to properly critique and finally found you! Keep the videos coming
Baz not getting nominated for Elvis, was the biggest let down for me, That movie is so amazing. He at the least deserved a nomination. Also RRR not nominated in the International Category
Great reaction Austin, here are some of my thoughts on the nominations: - Andrea Riseborough? WHAT!? I know about the campaign but it's so crazy that it worked! - It sucks so much that Danielle Deadwyler got snubbed, she was phenomenal in Till. - Dano was to me the best perfornance in The Fabelmans, and its shame he got snubbed once again at the Oscars. - I hated Blonde, but I'm not mad that de Armas got the nod, she carried that movie on her back. - EEAAO surprisingly overperformed, and well-deserved, I'm happy especially for Stephanie Hsu who I thought was going to get snubbed over Curtis. - Not much love for GDT's Pinocchio, that's a shame. That and Puss in Boots 2 are my picks for animated film of the year. - The Batman missing cinematography hurts but I guess I can handle it, but Top Gun missing, just no! - Damn! no Decision to Leave, the Oscars always do Park Chan-wook dirty. - Mostly happy with the nominations for best picture, but I still have yet to see Women Talking, and I need to see Triangle of Sadness again since that's so far the only one that I'm lukewarm on.
I am happy for Hong Chau, very relieved she made the cut. Michelle Williams took Deadwyler and Viola spot, she should be in supporting category. Yes Riseborough is the biggest surprise nomination, she had almost no precursors, it just shows that she had strong supports from her fellow actors in Hollywood.
His reaction to Ana De Armes was my exact reaction. It's a terrible film but her performance was one of the best of the year, and makes it worth watching. When I tell you I screamed for her and Stephanie Hsu, I scared my cat.
Art is subjective, so describing a film you didn't like as "terrible" is an opinion. After reading Blonde, and seeing the way the challenging words of the >700 page book were presented on the screen via her voice, the cinematography and a remarkable score, my opinion was on the favorable side - not brilliant, but very much worth the experience. Many top critics gave it favorable reviews, while others disliked it. As for Ana, good for her to be recognized on the heels of a fantastic supporting role (imho) in Knives Out. Fun fact: she read most of her part phonetically for War Dogs, as she was still learning English as recently as 2016.
haha these reactions were great! your scream at paul mescal...i felt that! biggest pain for me this entire award season was universal entirely dropping the ball with nope...not an award campaign in sight 😭 I loved that movie soo much it pains me how completely overlooked it has been
Thanks for the shout out in the predictions video Austin, much appreciated!!! Ah the highs and the lows of the Oscar Nominations. Thrilled for Triangle Of Sadness getting in for Best Picture & Director but sad for Dolly De Leon. The cluster you know what that is Best Actress. Can't fault Andrea Riseborough for getting in (that's a game changer) now I have to search that movie out, but, gutted for Danielle Deadwyler. That was definitely Top 3 female performances of the year to me. Everything Everywhere over performed so that's where my money's going for Best Picture. However, a writing nom for Top Gun Maverick makes things interesting. RRR at least got Best Song which it should win but I would have taken the movie all day for Best Picture over Women Talking. Now the 7 week wait until Oscar's night. Keep up the great work Austin...
LOL, "Decision to Leave" barely made my Top 20 for International Feature: 1. The quiet Girl 2. All Quiet on the Western Front 3. Argentina, 1985 4. Holy Spider 5. Joyland 6. EO 7. Last Film Show 8. Saint Omer 9. Close 10. Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths 11. Cairo Conspiracy 12. Utama 13. You won't Be Alone 14. Mars One 15. Corsage 16. The Blue Caftan 17. Return to Seoul 18. Broker 19. The Kings of the World 20. Decision To Leave

First of all, I LOVE your reactions. LOL! I did not expect Tom Cruise not to get in for some reason or the other? I am gutted because Danielle Deadwyler did not get in or Viola Davis, and who is Andrea Riseborough?
I just hope Lift Me Up takes it, the Academy likes classic, somewhat standard songs (City of Stars, Remember Me, Shallow, No Time to Die), really hoping for a Rihanna win
Top Gun Maverick screenplay nomination is baffling to me. And strange how Andrea got it over Danielle and Viola. Oscars this year is weirder than the Globes wtf.
A strong year for films, as the number of surprises and snubs attest. A big surprise for me was that, with all the love for Elvis, Bad Luhrman dud nit get a beat director nod. I am one of the few people (other than critics) who saw To Leslie, and if you haven't seen it, then do, because for my money it's the best of the five best actress nominees.
No Giacchino in best soundtrack for the Batman, and RRR for best foreign movie, are my only 2 disappointment. I'm so happy for the cast and crew of EEOAA, i hope Ke Quan and Michelle Yeoh win! Also Brendan Frasier and Hong Chau, Collin Farrell, Angela Bassett, so glad they get nominated.

At least, that’s how I’ve interpreted the situation.
Been with you since 3k subscribers Austin. Keep up the good work!
Nah, Paul deserved that nom.
Hi Austin, just writing to say I appreciate you. Tried to find a movie critic who has a true love of good movies and isn't afraid to properly critique and finally found you! Keep the videos coming
❤️
Sad for no Babylon in picture. :(
Could've had like 5+ noms
Loved your reations !! Kiss from Portugal
i was so pissed that morbius didnt get a best picture nomination
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Baz not getting nominated for Elvis, was the biggest let down for me, That movie is so amazing. He at the least deserved a nomination. Also RRR not nominated in the International Category
Great reaction Austin, here are some of my thoughts on the nominations:
- Andrea Riseborough?
My film of the year wasn’t even mentioned! The Northman!
your reactions are hilarious 😂
I am happy for Hong Chau, very relieved she made the cut. Michelle Williams took Deadwyler and Viola spot, she should be in supporting category. Yes Riseborough is the biggest surprise nomination, she had almost no precursors, it just shows that she had strong supports from her fellow actors in Hollywood.
The Oscar nominations were very underwhelming. No wonder they disabled the comments.
TOP GUN BABBBBBY!!!!!!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I wouldn’t say it was a terrible film, more a terrible script (based off the book).
haha these reactions were great! your scream at paul mescal...i felt that! biggest pain for me this entire award season was universal entirely dropping the ball with nope...not an award campaign in sight 😭 I loved that movie soo much it pains me how completely overlooked it has been
QUIET GIRL!!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉😍😍😍 Love that film, love your channel A.B Keep going 💪
🙌🏻
Every day I am reminded how little people appreciate the art that is NOPE
Fr
It’s nope and the Northman for me, how those two didn’t earn a single nomination whilst wakanda forever claimed 5 doesn’t sound right to me
Thanks for the shout out in the predictions video Austin, much appreciated!!!
Danielle Deadwyler is the biggest snub, best actress of the year
Thanks Mr. Burke
Bro I am so freaking happy with all quiet on the western front
I’ve been watching you for a while, coming on a few months ago- and just saying this was a fantastic watch. So good! Keep it up mate!
LOL, "Decision to Leave" barely made my Top 20 for International Feature:
1. The quiet Girl
2. All Quiet on the Western Front
3. Argentina, 1985
4. Holy Spider
5. Joyland
6. EO
7. Last Film Show
8. Saint Omer
9. Close
10. Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths
11. Cairo Conspiracy
12. Utama
13. You won't Be Alone
14. Mars One
15. Corsage
16. The Blue Caftan
17. Return to Seoul
18. Broker
19. The Kings of the World
20. Decision To Leave
The best animated oscar gonna destroy me😭 guillermo's Pinochio vs Puss in boots 2 ... this is torture
Love seeing the reactions
I said holy shit when they mention Andrea for lead actress. Sad for the snubs for Pinocchio, happy for All Quiet on the Western Front
Do you realize that every time you react to these, you change locations?😂 side note: I LOVED the Brian Tyree Henry nom, didn’t predict it but, as someone who saw Causeway, I love it!!
That thumbnail was a bait and switch. I thought they actually didn't nominate Brendan Fraser...lol
Hehehe
It was meant for the Best Picture snub, but I can totally see that lol
06:20 oh hell yeah!
Naatu Naatu is the greatest song since the 1940s mgm era at the Oscars, we need to win this🙏🥺
First of all, I LOVE your reactions. LOL! I did not expect Tom Cruise not to get in for some reason or the other? I am gutted because Danielle Deadwyler did not get in or Viola Davis, and who is Andrea Riseborough?
Just found your channel & I absolutely love your enthusiasm! You make me excited to find some of these movies…
Dude I didn't know you can be so funny. 😊👏
Love your reactions man, been following you since early 2019, so proud of how much you’ve improved over the years and how bright your future is.
Mia Goth should have been nommed for X and Pearl for Best Actress
Horror movies are rarely nominated.
@@alexhein1738 That shouldn't be a reason or an excuse.
@@newyyykkll sorry but it is. I know how the Oscar’s work.
@@alexhein1738 Then explain how Riseborough got nommed.
@@newyyykkll thats an actress not a movie.
I’m sad that Nope didn’t get nominated for Best VFX or Best Score
Horror movies are rarely nominated. It’s once in a blue moon.
Or Sound.
RRR was never going to get an International Feature nomination because that's not the film India submitted. It was ineligible.
I have watched the actor/actress in a leading role part so many times! Your reaction makes me laugh so hard and cheers me up when I’m having a bad day, thank you! ❤
That Andrea Riseborough campaign came out of nowhere a few weeks ago. It's so weird.
So dumb
It's so dumb it's brilliant
@@mrinalprasad9544 NO its just dumb
@@AustinBurke The fact you have a UA-cam channel talking about movies and you actually said who when they announced Andrea risebrough the disrespect! You can’t have the film it’s amazing better than all those Shitty blockbuster films that are nominated
It wasn’t “who” like I don’t know who she is… Why do I even have to explain that? Use your brain.
Personally I’m sick and tired of the blatant disrespect for animated films at the Oscars. Yet another year where animated films don’t get a single nomination outside of the fake Best Animated Feature award. I just don’t understand their mentality that Elvis could possibly be more deserving than Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. The only reason I would ever tune into the Oscars this year is if Will Smith somehow snuck up onto stage and slapped somebody.
The Northman, Menu, Nope all got snubbed
Not surprised about THE WHALE: the reviews were not good, at all. Shouldn’t be surprised it didn’t get a Best Picture nomination.
Yeah but after Bohemian Rhapsody and Joker, I’ve learned to not look at critic reviews as much lol
Top Gun: Maverick.... Claudio Miranda nominated for cinematography at BAFTA ASC won at Critics Choice and here snubbed....What the hell
If there were awards for reactions, you definitely earned Best Reaction to the Oscar Nominations 👍🏻❤️
soo happy that RRR is not nominated in the international film.. Lady Gaga's Oscars for Top Gun might be possible after all!
I can not get excited about awards season like you can Austin.
No Danielle Deadwyler for best actress
No RRR for best picture
No Paul Dano for best supporting actor
No decision to leave for international feature
No Batman and Top Gun Maverick for Cinematography
Top gun missing cinématographie it’s very sad and a shame.
If I had a dollar for every time I heard an Oscar reaction say "No 'The Whale,'" and "No 'Decision to Leave'"..
Apart from Cate Blanchett and Michelle Williams all the actors got their first nomination.
And Angela Basset and Judd Hirsch :)
@@Dr.M550 yeah I forgot about these two, but I’m my opinion they shouldn’t have been nominated. It should have been Paul Dano and dolly de Leon but anyway…
@@tofansultani8472 ehh
Give me that EEAAO SWEEP 🔥🙌🔥 Also I want the Brendan + Ke comeback story to come to a final win 🤞
Same!
Cinematography category was/is the biggest joke this year.
I got 72,5% accuracy on Goldy Derby, for my first time playing, it was very good, even more when the first one got “only” 80,83%! 😊
Some bold choices as Spielberg missing director and Wakanda Forever in Picture didnt play out, but I predicted the Viola Davis snub and the nominations for Judd in supporting actor, Andrea in lead actress, and All triangle of sadness nominations (screenplay, director and picture).
Main takeaways-
No Danielle Deadwyler, No Dolly De Leon, No Decision to Leave and No The Woman King. I need some answers.
Stephanie!!!!! ❤️❤️😭😭
All Quiet making some loud noise
Damn they sidelined Taylor Swift again
RRR not in Best Picture is really sad. But it's probably gonna win Best Original Song so that's nice.
They liked EEAAO so much to give it a Best Original Song nomination
Diane Warren. 14 nominations 🙂. That's it.
Top Gun Maverick missing Cinematography is pure stupidity
Where did The Sea Beast come from???
GDT's Pinnochio performed worse than expected
Women Talking is alive after all
Triangle of Sadness overperformed than most of us expected 😅
Paul Mascal 😳
Ana De Armas😳😳
Andrea Riseborough 😳😳😳😳🥴🥴
