How to Cast a Pewter Guard

  • In this video Allen Newberry J.S. will pour a cast in place pewter guard onto a ladder patterned Damascus hunter with a stacked micarta and whitetail deer antler handle. The goal is to show how to cast a pewter guard. We will cover making the form for casting the guard and show the actual casting of the pewter guard itself.

      This is very good. I watched a video a few years back and a guy was building a muzzleloader and was pouring the end cap on the fore end of the stock and he poured the pewter much like this. I forgot about this technique until now, I may try this sometime👍.

      I have seen a video or two like that. It is a cool technique and I have been having fun with it.

    Is there any reason I couldnt do this with copper or brass? I'm sure it needs to get hotter but otherwise?
