Bike tech here. Bazzazz makes a mid range tcs and electronics package that includes a breakaway switch built into a shift lever which wires into the side stand switch to cut ignition during up-shifting. It's primitive, but works decently once adjusted. Old parts from wrecked bikes destined for the insurance scrapyard in the sky are free game, but when I retrofitted it into my beater Civic it was not happy at all. lol. Worked a little better in my 4speed Yota pickup (Hilux) but that trans already shifts great without clutch. Someday I'll get around to getting an ECU that might help. :)
Yeah you need control over how long/short the ignition cut is. It's in milliseconds but still it makes a difference between grinding and not. I used to drive big rigs so clutchless shifting is something I've done a lot of.
@@dj4monie Nice. I actually got my start wrenching at Mack years ago, back when the emission regulations kicked in and everything started getting DPF's (in the States). Tried teaching my younger brother how to catch the revs but he failed miserably. lol. I'd pay good money to watch him try to figure out an old Eaton with a dozen sticks, or at least an air switch. The switch I was trying to retrofit was beyond simple though. Just a two wire on a breakaway, so it grounded whatever circuit it was in as long as you kept pressure on it. First try was the whole distributor, then I tried just one cyl, then two, then three. Worked a lot better on my pickup, but it drops revs so slow there's no real reason to wait just so I could stay WOT. It's got a carb though so I left it on for when I want to terrorize joggers and old ladies with a little afterfire. :)
Great! Thanks for the info. This will even help a regular syncro gearbox removing the need to tap the clutch to grab the next gear. True flat shifting....
How is the sequence going for downshifts? push on the lever, then ecu cuts ignition, god ears come out, then ignition back + blip, and finally dog engages in the lower gear?
Aldo I'm far from being a expert I'd say the goal at seamless downshifts is to bring the engine rpm up so only the opening of the throttle body is required. As far as trying to reduce the load of the gear you're trying to disengage first your possibilites are limited because it's caused by engine braking (Can only think of disengaging the clutch). I guess the shape and form of the dog's or gear teeth is designed to allow that.
Hey @Ahmd! That is a MoTeC CAN bus based keypad. You can check out some of the specs here: www.motec.com.au/keypads/keypadoverview/ Hope that helps! - Taz.
Hi there, small question... would a Motec C125 display work in a scion frs with no additionnal equipment (stock form) ? What do I mean by no additional equipement is, no stand alone ECU like a M150 or any other Motec equipment. Would it requiere any custom harness or adapter ?
Good question. I'm not sure off the top of my head. We had a CDL3 in an 86 while running the stock ECU I believe, but not a C125. MoTeC should be able to help you with this directly though: www.motec.com.au/ - Taz.
please fix the B pillar trim 😅 it bugs me ever since you got this suby but didnt want to bother you with that detail!! but my attention is constantly being pulled towards it 😭 congrats for your new dyno! looking fwd to see future projects on it, thanks for the content.
Hey there, this is the pre-show to a members only lesson. The details for membership are in the comment description, and I don't put the member's lesson details in the title since they're not in the pre-show (as that would be a bit frustrating for you guys). If you're an HPA Gold Member you can access the lesson here: www.hpacademy.com/previous-webinars/208-what-is-dwell-time/ Any questions, email or reply and I'll do my best to help you out @Ramadhan =) - Taz. support@hpacademy.com

Measurement Specialists in Huntsville, Alabama can instrument your existing gear lever - if you prefer that over buying a gear knob.

What's the cost?
@@familyblair8636 Depends on exactly how you want it arranged, but usually ~$500
Old video now, but Can a strain gauge be used with an h pattern dog box?
Sure can!
I see a STM decal in your engine bay... do you have any more... would love one for my ss ute.
Hey Freddie, no sorry mate, they are long gone, we have some HPA ones though ;) - Taz.

The video explain hub dyno, strain gauge, and heat shield
But the subtitle is explaining about dwell time
