Hi, which do you install or recommend more ( gas) tank or tankless?
My atmospheric w/h tank backdrafts sometimes when house goes into negative pressure….
Thanks
You might have a back draft because your chimney flue might be too big for the water heater and the heat from the heater isn’t enough the warm up the large flue to create an up draft. If you are using an atmospheric heater then you have to use a chimney liner which, reduces the size of flue and prevents the back draft. Always have work inspected by your local building inspector because they are there to protect the consumer.
Depending on your setup the building inspector will not pass the insulation if it doesn’t have a liner even if you dose not have a backdraft at the time of inspection.
If you use power vent, tank or tankless which the tankless only come in power vent, heater then you will not have any back draft issue and they run much more efficient than the atmospheric heaters but cost 2,to 3 times more to buy and may cost more to install especially when you are changing over from atmospheric to power vent.
Should have gone with a Bradford white
No expansion tank?
Water heater are not on a close loop system, like heating systems, so the expansion tanks are completely unnecessary in vast majority of them. Plumbers just add them to justify charging an arm and a leg for installation.
Why the hell do they have two water heaters.....?
Take a wild guess.
Clue: The next building has 5 water heaters.
Most houses over certain a square footage have two
