This “spending” thing drives me mad. People look at net transfer spend or, worse still, don’t even take outgoings into account. But wage bill is hugely relevant also. “Spend” should account for annual cost of the playing and coaching staff on any given season. Ferguson was a great manager, but to suggest he was doing it all on a mid table budget in the 90s is farcical

Maybe listen carefully, no one is doubting his ability as a manager but the success at City is build on a foundation which was sort of shortcut, maybe if he had tighter budgets he would have taken more time… these are all what ifs but it sure does make a decent point that 115 charges do play a significant role if we’re talking Pep for PL alone… but never in doubt Pep is amongst the best managers in football history.

@@limi.First of all none of the charges are proven and the leaks this week suggest City will be cleared within the calendar year 2024 but we’ll have to wait and see. I agree with Carragher, nearly all of the charges, the most serious ones anyway, are pre-Pep.
What it’s done, if City are guilty and it’s a big if right now, is drag them up to compete with the top 4 and build a foundation to go and get Pep.
If Pep went to Chelsea, Utd or even Arsenal… he’d have had at least a similar budget to what he’s had. Since he’s been there those three clubs have spent more.
It’s not his fault if the side he chose to go to had accounting breaches before he arrived.

This may be my favourite thing on UA-cam ... or TV actually. Just 4 mates talking Footy and life.

Sir Alex, Wenger both go above Pep by miles because the quality was across the entire league back then, and it was a much tougher game as well. There is a huge gulf in quality in the middle of the league today, and you can't tackle like you used to. Not forgetting back passing changes and Citys squad size with number of subs today.

Somehow Ben has become my favourite member of the team. His Sarky putdowns are amazing and fair play to Roy for putting Gary in his place when he was on the phone.

I’m glad Keane mentioned about Wenger not having money to spend! The consistency that Arsenal showed under Wenger was unbelievable. If he had Pep, Mourinho and Klopp budget he would’ve achieved greater success!

It was Gallagher they couldn't think of on the phone, a better player currently then Henderson.
