"for some legal purposes" is so woolly. What does it really mean? Same sex marriage exists now so that battle has been won. So, I feel it means a male can declare himself a woman and benefit from EVERYTHING women have access to which includes women's spaces (loos, changing rooms, sports, prisons etc) but also, discounted driving insurance or free entrance to nightclubs. But just wait till they have to go to the hairdressers! And whilst the last part of my list may seem trivial they still illustrate the point. It's stupid and they've not thought through loopholes. Like Helen has said ... the only people who can be transwomen are men! Their feelings do not trump the rights of women. Go HELEN! Trans is a great read and the information on Sex Matters is outstanding, clear and thoughtful.
Repeal the GRA
Why does GB news have a headline saying "Trans women could compete against biological men?" Those two things are one and the same, wish they would stop actively misleading those people who don't understand this issue as well as Helen and Andrew.

No amount of estrogen or surgeries, makeup or clothes can change anyone's sex. It is degrading to women and men to imply otherwise. Don't be a sucker to this 3.4 trillion dollar worldwide gender industry. Don't let yourself or anyone you love be commodified into meat legos. We have evolved beautifully and both children and adults should be told that, as the body that Pharma and medicine will sew onto you is a Frankenstein like horror I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Fortunately for you, Party of Women have candidates standing in 16 constituencies. The sooner we can get politicians and the public to discuss the legal fiction that is the GRA, the sooner we can get it repealed.

We utterly need clarification that sex matters and no obfuscation on the interpretation of that, fixed in law. TW are not female, trans is such a woolly term and now can mean nearly anyone under the umbrella they use. Humans cannot change their sex. It used to be said that whatever USA does UK follows approx 5 or so years later. Just look at what many young are doing and saying on tiktok to see why clarification is desperately needed. Most trans identifying males don't have their full genitalia removed, rather they may keep the meat and not the veg. Self id sets a dangerous path for women but not exclusively imo, so we should never legally adopt that. So sick of all this
I agree and I realise that I just pinched your word "woolly" in my comment above but there is all sorts of woolliness in this issue which in some sense I feel is deliberate to cause confusion (especially with young people). Currently reading "Women won't Wheesht" and loving it. This is a fight to prevent the erosion of women's rights!

No she isn't. She supports the sexist law that states that rape requires the perpetrator to have a penis, i.e. when a women does it to a man, it "doesn't count". It never should have been changed to a different offence (forced penetration) when commited by a woman. This is unbelievably misandristic. ALL victims matter, EQUALLY.
Don't think so...? Then how about we reverse the definitions so that it's only rape WHEN a women does it, and it's "forced penetration" when a man does it. It DOES matter. Language matters!

X and Y Variations, also known medically as Sex Chromosome Aneuploidy (SCA), involve variations in the typical number and type of sex chromosomes.
The typical number of chromosomes in each human cell is 46. These include 22 pairs of “autosomes” (which refers to all chromosomes that are not sex chromosomes) and a pair of sex chromosomes, either an X and a Y (which makes for a male) or two Xs (female). That means the genetic signature for a person with 46 chromosomes is either 46,XY (males), or 46,XX (females).
Any variation from these typical numbers is referred to scientifically as an “aneuploidy.” If there is one additional X or Y, it is known as a “trisomy” (“tri” denoting the number 3). Genetic conditions that reflect a trisomy include:
• 47,XXY (Klinefelter syndrome)
• 47,XXX (Trisomy X)
• 47,XYY
Trisomies are the most common X and Y aneuploid conditions. Less common are “tetrasomies,” which denote the presence of four sex chromosomes:
• 48,XXYY
• 48,XXXY
• 48,XXXX
Still rarer are the “pentasomies,” indicating five sex chromosomes:
• 49,XXXXY
• 49,XXXXX
Typically, 48- and 49-chromosome variations produce more pronounced symptoms than trisomies, although this is not always the case.
At the other end of the spectrum lie the “monosomies,” meaning a person born with only one sex chromosome. The only survivable monosomy SCA is 45,X. This is an individual with only one X chromosome, a condition known as “Turner syndrome.”
A fetus with only one Y chromosome and no X chromosome is not viable and cannot survive. AXYS does not include Turner syndrome in its mission. Turner syndrome advocacy and support can be found at www.turnersyndrome.org.
About 20 percent of persons with sex chromosome aneuploidies exhibit “mosaicism,” meaning they have two or more cell lines with different genetic signatures. Examples include 46,XY/47,XXY, and 45,X/47,XXX.
Sex chromosome aneuploidy is not inherited. The extra chromosome occurs in cell division when the egg or sperm is formed, or occasionally during cell division after fertilization. An extra X can be contributed by either the mother or father. Only the father can contribute an extra Y chromosome.
Gender identity is innervated by a neurological structure called the Bed Nucleus Stria Terminalis. This is part of the limbic system ie the thalamus, hyper thalamus, amygdala and hippocampus, which control function such as emotions, behaviour, motivation and memory.
