I used to fish at HMS Sultan when I was based there. Great to see people are fishing it still. Oh and it's a naval base not an army base 😉 Love the channel lads. .
When about 10 years old in france on a family holiday, i went night fishing with a family friend (just watched and helped where i could) we had meat on hair rigs in the lake, bite alarm was twitching, we assumed something swam into line, then kept twitching. Started bringing in a small perch, something took hold. He spent 15 mins pulling in the unknown, and eventually had it netted. I had never seen one before, i thought some kind of pike, it was a zander! With a perch inside its throat, 1 hook through 2 different fish lips, like Fishception. I since heard they are in the UK in some places, and I'm OBSESSED with wanting to catch one, but only recently started fishing again after a few busy years.
I was deep water pole fishing and hooked a roach and then a pike attacked the roach. The roach was flung off the hook and the pike hooked itself instead. That's how I caught my first pike👌🏼
Nice ! What was the size of the pike ? Because it happened to me several times, only twice was I able to land the pike (I was fishing in a lake with a lot of pikes and roaches) and they were between 40 and 55 cm (16-21 inch) . Using a 5 m pole rod, no rubber and 16/100 main line and 14/100. Even once foul hooked a zander while fishing for breme !
i am just an old fart, it is so nice to see you boy's mature and create a great fishing channel . i know it must be hard at times, but you create some of the best content on youtube. thank you.
Great update lads! Keep it up! Enjoyed your comments about how Reservoir Diaries Season 2 came about but I guess these things happen for a reason because The Res 2 is a seriously special film, truly inspirational stuff for so many people, your work is truly inspiring to so many of us out here! Thanks so much, tight lines 👌🏻
there's nothing better than watching carl and alex fishing on the couch with a glass of coca cola and a bowl of crisps 💯 well done guys greetings from the Netherlands
This channel is really the best . I constantly wait 4 new vids to be released and when they do they never seem to disappoint. Honestly carl and Alex please keep it up
Oh yeah! watched my dad set up a feeder with a small roach for large perch in a well known fishery. he used a bayonet type rig with a single hook rather than a treble. it fished for 15-20 minutes until..Whack!! a decent rod bend moment and a good fight, expecting a green flash with a few red fins until he popped his golden head up and it turned out to be a 2lb crucian carp! strangest one ever but seeing him catch more eels and not many perch has been this summers highlight. keep em coming K&A. Dai.
Was float fishing a syndicate lake that I'd not fished before and that not many people fish except for carp. I wanted to find out the stamp of silver fish and anything else that might bite so tried a single maggot. I landed a couple of small perch and then suddenly one got a lot heavier! It was a jack pike of about 3-4lb which sadly came off. However, I had my lure gear in the car (it was winter) so I got that and landed a small jack! Wasn't the same fish but I was still really pleased with myself! Memorable days fishing!
I have had both a perch and a roach be taken by a pike in my local water. I was float fishing for roach when the pike took one on the end of my line and snapped the line. The perch one happend just like yours. Love these videos!!
Gentlemen just back from a trip to Bangkok. Found myself sitting drinking beer with a Thai fishing guide and a random bloke from Abu Dhabi and we were all talking about our favourite fishing shows and guess what you guys a really well liked worldwide!!! keep it up!!! Also got me thinking when are you guys gonna do Thailand…..
Brilliant as always Guys, Nice to see you got your day on the syndy, its a shame that sometimes Carp fishing and people dont just let people enjoy themselves and allow others to share this. Keep up the good work for angling and Nash.
Great stuff boys, found your videos whilst surfing. You obviously put a lot of work into your productions and it shows, just so nice to watch. I used to fish carp but gave it up years ago, think you may have inspired me to start again. I hope you reap the rewards from all your hard work. Excellent!!
Once my uncle had a maggot what got eaten by a gudgeon, then a perch ate the gudgeon, then a Zander ate the perch, then a pike ate the Zander, then he ate all of them together in a fish pie. Hes dead now... Got eaten by a shark in Oz!
little tips for the frog lures, when a fish grabs it ive it a second before striking then hit it like you wanna snap your rod should look something like teeing off lol
In Zim a tigerfish (a more voilent, scarier, African version of a pike) took an imbiri (similar to a roach I believe) I was reeling in. Great vids and keep up the great work!🇿🇼🇬🇧
Thanks for inspiring me to carp fish! Went for the first time yesterday and let's just say I was not prepared. My buddy caught a 2 pounder and lost at least a 15 and I lost 2 at least 15! I can't wait to get out again!
The day before yesterday it happened actually twice on the feeder. First time it got my roach and snapped the line as well, whereas the second time, which happened a bit later on the day, it let go of the roach. (just like the pike let go of your perch in the video) Then I quickly got my pike rod with a lure and managed to catch him afterall. Yesterday it happened again! When I reeled in, the hook and a bit of line were just disappeard. Must say that they're quite smart; just waiting at a baited spot for a little fish to get in trouble.
Oh, the bigger fish eating your smaller one on happened to me a lot of times by now. As someone who pretty much only does Ultra Light lureing from march to june I obviously hook a lot of small perch, chub, trout and often even roach and stuff wanting a protein shake. The fish in my area seem to be pretty aggressive, so bigger chub, perch and pike attacking your fish happens actually pretty often. Even landed some quite good ones this way.
I had one time I was reeling in a small bream when I felt my rod suddenly bend hard, seconds later a pike jumped out of the water full bodied. As a kid my heart was pounding but was such a great moment 💪🏼🎣
Yes I have. It was a Roach on the river behind the Bakery In Rotherham. Everyone laughed when I brought it in due to the effort it was taking to land the thing. Turned the Roach over and a fresh chunk had been taken. The Pike had it and held on till it saw the net. I could have got a bogof.
I've had a 5lb chub take a Gudgeon on the surface when i was reeling in a maggot feeder. I didn't know the Gudgeon was even hooked. Landed the chub. The Gudgeons head was still attached to the size 12 in the Chubs scissors. (That was at Ratcliffe on Trent weir in Notts.)
Brilliant fishing guys.... I used to work at Vector in Gosport. I used to fish a pond at the back of the site..... The guy who took you to the Navy pond will know the place...... Big big Carp...... You can view the pond on Google earth..... Tight lines, Rob Thomas.... West Wales.... Let me know if you know the pond.......
Hah, That's how I first met Stu. I'd just read his book (Great read) "A Year on the moat" on amazon e books and I had a message asking if I could arrange a trip for him and his mate to fish for wild carp. I aksed him when I met him if he was the "Stu Harris" who wrote the book and he said yes. Strange things happen in fishing. We quickly became good friends.
Was doubled up in a swim at orchid lake with a mate who borrowed my marker rod and couldn't believe it when a pike took the marker on the retrieve, was bizarre that neither of us had cast a bait out, yet there he was already into a fish ,which proceeded to bite through the mainline, but fortunately released the marker as it drifted in later, we did chuckle.
thank you Carl and alex another great video just so interesting seeing what you been catching keep up the fantastic work even if making the videos is boring lol
I was fishing on a local pond with a pole for bream and I swear this is true. Baited the hook with a maggot, while casting that out I hooked a dragonfly in the air. Did not really want to unhook it, (not really a fan of bugs) so while thinking what to do with it lay on the water in the margins where a frog took it. Then a pike came after the frog. Did not take it, but had a look. Managed to shake the hook free somehow :) I also had a pike following a large snowman rig whilst reeling it in on a canal. Rig was spinning round.
I used to read a fishing book at my school back in the late 70's and there was a photo of two dead pike. One had tried to eat the other head first and it got stuck. Fish were both about 10lbs if I remember correctly.
back when I started fishing we fished for pike for weeks without a hit. so an old man helped us out and got us float fishing so I got myself a pole with basic elastic. caught myself a nice perch and bam a good double fiquire pike took it from me hahaha
Another amazing video I would recommend fishing at the the river creedy in devon look it up do go it is an amazing spot there is pike roach Rudd chub barbel and carp, rarely big zander
About 4yrs ago on the severn at Bewdley, I had a dace on and a pike took it and somehow the hook ended up in the pikes mouth, away from its teeth and I landed it. It was only a 7lb fish but one ill always remember.
I was at Norfolk broads fishing on pole and I had a small pitch on a huge pike jumped out from under a bridge and grabbed hold of the pike and I managed to catch it on ridiculously light gear aswell
I was fishing on a whip, caught a small fudge on on a single maggot, a pike about two pound took the gudgeon but just as I was about to net the small pike my then ‘12lb’ Pb took it
Not the same but i was freelining bread for carp in the dark down my local park and the bread fell off. So i left the rod on the edge with the line in the water so i wasnt standin on it in the dark while i went to get more bread. When i got back i lifted the line out of the water and there was a perch perfectly hooked. no bait or lure just a size 10 hook. saved me a blank! lol
I had the same thing I was reeling in a small roach and this huge perch grabbed it !! While reeling the perch in the roach swam back out of the perchs mouth !!!
Great video once again.... what bread do u recommend for free lining and surface fishing and what technique do you use to keep it on the hook maybe a short video about this.
I had exactly the same thing happen, I went to the river Trent at Fardon Ferry and while taking a break from lure fishing to catch a few bits on my feeder rod I hooked into a small perch, I had 4lb line and a size 18 hook and while perhaps 8-6 feet away from landing the little perch a pike took it and held on for dear life - My friend managed to net it for me and the thief weighed 12lb 10oz. Its actually strange because the biggest we had on a lure was around 6lb. It sounds too crazy to be true but it is 100%
Was fishing at my grandads pond, didn’t know it had any perch in it and Iv fished it all my life, I had a Rudd on and I was reeling it in, then a 3 pound perch ate it in one and we caught the perch instead.. one of the best moment of my life
I was fishing in the Norfolk broads when I hooked a small roach I believe, then as I was reeling it in a big fish (I think it was a pike) attacked it and the fish died but I had hooked the pike. I tried to land it on light tackle but then it came off I reeled in and my hook was a straight piece of metal😂 it was a size 16 tho.
Glad you got to fish the lake people was spreading rumours of you two. I really enjoy how you cover all types of fishing, would like to give barbel and chub a go but one thing at a time. I've been thinking to get the Tournament Daiwa reel but not sure what one is best and what's the difference 1600/2600, please could you guys advice?!
My first ever pike was caught the exact same way, except it was on a big roach and I landed both of them. P.S. Your footage and channel is amazing and is my favourite channel on UA-cam.
Me and my dad where in the lakes. I was on a float rod and my dad was on a spinner trying too catch pike. I had a small roach on the line and a second before we brought it in a pike launched itself out of the water and tried to get the roach. Luckily for the roach it missed and we got it in. My best fishing experience by far.
I was using big lures for pike and caught a small perch (the treble was bigger than it's mouth), after a small fight the pierch was coming in when a felt a firm tug and saw a pike bite the perch. I was so close to landing the pike when it let go at the last minute. I was gutted as i'd never caught a pike before.
Was fishing a tiny stream for just a couple mins one day i knew there were some micro fish in there so was using a size 16 hook with one maggot got a take just just before i could lift it a large perch took the small chub and was able to land both without hooking the perch
I fished a lake in Burton on Trent, caught a smallish roach to be approached by a 4 pound perch right in front of my peg. The perch took the roach but let go but then came for the attack again and managed to knock the Roach off the hook and hook itself and landed.
I went carp fishing one day and i just set up my rod when a zander took my little pop-up. The pop up had an orange-white colour.😅I think the zander thought it was a roach😂
in my old tackle shop in Peterborough he had an old photo on the wall where he caught a roach that was taken by a Zander which was then taken by a pike all landed on light feeder gear in a match on the nene
I used to fish at HMS Sultan when I was based there. Great to see people are fishing it still. Oh and it's a naval base not an army base 😉 Love the channel lads.
.
Love your enthusiasm keep it up fished for over 50 years missing it at the moment your video is keeping me sane 😁
When about 10 years old in france on a family holiday, i went night fishing with a family friend (just watched and helped where i could) we had meat on hair rigs in the lake, bite alarm was twitching, we assumed something swam into line, then kept twitching. That's awesome 👍👍
Why would you actually want a bream?
bream go up to 20lb in some places a lot of people like to beat their pb's
Charlie I love bream
i am just an old fart, it is so nice to see you boy's mature and create a great fishing channel . i know it must be hard at times, but you create some of the best content on youtube. thank you.

When I was 6 a pike took a small roach I had on and broke my whip pole, this is what got me hooked on fishing. I'm now 36 and fish as much as I can
there's nothing better than watching carl and alex fishing on the couch with a glass of coca cola and a bowl of crisps 💯 well done guys

This channel is really the best . I constantly wait 4 new vids to be released and when they do they never seem to disappoint. Honestly carl and Alex please keep it up
Thank you so much!!! :)
Carl and Alex Fishing hjj
Same with me
My friend caught the state record muskie in SC while reeling in a bluegill he had hooked
Oh yeah! watched my dad set up a feeder with a small roach for large perch in a well known fishery. he used a bayonet type rig with a single hook rather than a treble. it fished for 15-20 minutes until..Whack!! a decent rod bend moment and a good fight, expecting a green flash with a few red fins until he popped his golden head up and it turned out to be a 2lb crucian carp! strangest one ever but seeing him catch more eels and not many perch has been this summers highlight. keep em coming K&A. You 2 really are an inspiration! You seem so genuine and really dedicated to the sport! Love the videos. Keep it up!
Lovely stretch of the Lea that. If you go behind the pub in the car park there are some nice Chub normally hanging about under the trees.

Love those montages at the end and surface bread fishing in the best🎣🎣🐟🐟
Thanks dude!
Thanks for inspiring me to carp fish! Went for the first time yesterday and let's just say I was not prepared. My buddy caught a 2 pounder and lost at least a 15 and I lost 2 at least 15! I can't wait to get out again!

Great montage guys ! My favourite bit has to be with stu down at the moat just like you two he makes some stunning vids to.
Nice video as always guys. In the future i hope to see some videos fishing for crucian.
I bet those chubs would make great live or cut bait for the Wels!

Without doubt u guys produce the best fishing vids going. Keep up the great work! More of the same please
+Tim Townsend Great to hear and glad you enjoy them. Plenty more to come. In fact we have a new one coming tomorrow!
I had a 4ft muskie eat a perch on the end of my line.
That's once in a lifetime
I had a pike take a fish on a pole rod in the canal
yea and i had a 80 pund whales eat a carp that was one my line. get reasonable
@@antoniodimitrijoski9954 It's pretty common dude, I'm sure there's plenty of videos out there of muskies eating people fish.
i had a 4lb barbel hooked and a like had a go at it

another amazing video. it's been a while but worth the wait. keep the videos coming.
There was a dead skimmer on the lake and a carp was trying to eat it it was trying for ages right next to me
Great video guys. I'm off to the Lea on Sunday. Barbel here we come!
I once had a pike grab a 4lb chub on the River Ivel.... the pike was huge! It let go after a minute or so and the chub was completely un-marked.
Great video lads.Alex you had some nice carp out of that moat lake
Yes I have. It was a Roach on the river behind the Bakery In Rotherham. Everyone laughed when I brought it in due to the effort it was taking to land the thing. Turned the Roach over and a fresh chunk had been taken. The Pike had it and held on till it saw the net. I could have got a bogof.
yourl are great and yourl inspire me to go fishing
I love your videos and I fish in East Sussex! Keep making them please
videos are always classy and the fish are beautiful nice job guys....
I have had a big pike try to rip apart my keep net before lol
Was doubled up in a swim at orchid lake with a mate who borrowed my marker rod and couldn't believe it when a pike took the marker on the retrieve, was bizarre that neither of us had cast a bait out, yet there he was already into a fish ,which proceeded to bite through the mainline, but fortunately released the marker as it drifted in later, we did chuckle.
thank you Carl and alex another great video just so interesting seeing what you been catching keep up the fantastic work even if making the videos is boring lol
brilliant video yet again guys cant wait for the next one
I was fishing on a local pond with a pole for bream and I swear this is true. Baited the hook with a maggot, while casting that out I hooked a dragonfly in the air. I also had a pike following a large snowman rig whilst reeling it in on a canal. Rig was spinning round.
great film lads with even greater music!! keep it up!!!
I used to read a fishing book at my school back in the late 70's and there was a photo of two dead pike. One had tried to eat the other head first and it got stuck. Fish were both about 10lbs if I remember correctly.
Awesome as usual… cheers Chris & Sam
I was based there for a little while when I was in the Navy. I remember having to patrol the perimeter fence!
Really amazing place!
back when I started fishing we fished for pike for weeks without a hit. so an old man helped us out and got us float fishing so I got myself a pole with basic elastic. caught myself a nice perch and bam a good double fiquire pike took it from me hahaha

Still watching old vids in 2024 brings back memories

Not a fish eats fish experience but I’ve had a pike snack on my method feeder when I was reeling in once😅
Not the same but i was freelining bread for carp in the dark down my local park and the bread fell off. Deffo has a few small perch and rudd eaten by pike in the past.
Had a few big perch chase small rudd and roach as well.

I had the same thing I was reeling in a small roach and this huge perch grabbed it !! While reeling the perch in the roach swam back out of the perchs mouth !!!
tends to happen bass fishing in the U.S., had it happen a few times! Never landed the attacker though.
Great video once again.... what bread do u recommend for free lining and surface fishing and what technique do you use to keep it on the hook maybe a short video about this.
you should better use a schraubendreher ;)
Greetings from germany.

Love your videos they make me just want to fish all the time but i just don't have the time any good tips on catching some massive carp and pike
My first ever pike was caught the exact same way, except it was on a big roach and I landed both of them.
P.S. Your footage and channel is amazing and is my favourite channel on UA-cam.

Yes dropped a perch in to give it some water at a canal because I needed to discourage it then a 10 lbs pike choked it.
I was using big lures for pike and caught a small perch (the treble was bigger than it's mouth), after a small fight the pierch was coming in when a felt a firm tug and saw a pike bite the perch.
The pop up had an orange-white colour.😅I think the zander thought it was a roach😂
amazing as per usual, I was looking back at some of you carp videos as was wonder how old are these fish? BTW that military base looked amazing
I've caught 3 pikes in one day while fishing for roach🤣
thats actually great
Lol
in my old tackle shop in Peterborough he had an old photo on the wall where he caught a roach that was taken by a Zander which was then taken by a pike all landed on light feeder gear in a match on the nene
Yet again great video boys
Great fishing guys 🎣
