    Found one at The Salvation Army for $15. The thing was built in February of 1966. A little TLC, a new O ring for the cap and restoration of the leather on the pump and it runs like new.

    I haven't seen this done in 50 years since I watched my father do it to his 1947 PREWAY 2 Burner Camp Stove, my parents bought when they got married, when I was a kid. I converted his stove and mine to propane so I won't be screwing around with white gas any more

    I was lucky enough to find one here in town last week, for only $40 CAD...heckuva deal! The owner felt he had to get rid of it because it just wouldn't burn the way it used to.
    When I pulled the generator, it was completely crudded up, so I popped it in vinegar for a few hours and then gently cleaned it with 4-0 steel wool.
    Now I have a three-burner!
    Love your videos, keep up the great work.

    Look for the propane version of the 3-burner stove... 5428 Guide. It makes a nice addition to the awesome 426 and it is arguably the BEST Coleman propane stove, if size is not a big deal!

    Just picked up a rusty 426D for $20 on F.B. Marketplace. I just going to put it on eBay and flip it, but it fired right up. 3 burners is really cool! Now I'm thinking, tear it down, clean it up, a little paint and make it a "keeper" 😎

    years ago when parts weren't too expensive and white gas was, old timers used regular gas and either replaced the generator or just throw the lantern over board and bought a new one with the money they saved on the fuel

    Got mine at a pawnshop for $20 in good working condition. Packings and everything are in amazing shape and all three burners like brand new. No fuss starting. As long as you stick with the white gas and don't experiment with other fluids like other youtubers do you're fine. Always use the proper fuels and keep them well maintained they can last forever. Also some of my in-laws have hand me downs that are almost 60 or so years old and still work like a charm.

    • @totallyfrozen
      @totallyfrozen 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, I’m with you. It’s cool to have fuel diversity and some appliances tolerate it better than others, but since white gas is still commonly available for sale, I just burn the white gas in my Coleman lanterns and stoves.

    Very nice job. Love these stoves. Watching you light this reminded me of what I like to keep inside of the case. If you ever have a long and empty electric dollar store BBQ lighter, it works great for lighting gas stoves of all kinds. It doesn't need butane at all. The little piezo sparker works perfect and you don't need to get close to the burner with a Bic. So next time you empty a lighter like this, keep it instead of throwing it out. Been using mine for years for stoves and even my Weber Q. Thank you once again.

    I got a pristine 426d once at a gun show for $25. The cap seal was bad. That’s it. It looked like it had been possibly lit once with no evidence it had actually been used to cook. That was years ago though.

    A .22 cal bore brush on a cleaning rod in a drill does wonders to clean out generator tubes. If the spring is stuck in the tube, or its really nasty, boil everything in vinegar.

    Yes, I like the video! 👍 Have a 3 burner Coleman stove, too. It was in a used camper that we bought many years ago. It's been a long time since we've used it. Your video reminds me that I need to get it out and check it out. Quite likely it needs some TLC, as well. I have a couple of propane adapters. Can't remember if one of them fits the 3 burner. (I have several more Colman camp stoves - both liquid fuel & propane. ). Soon be time for more eating outdoors. So, I do need to get it out and get it ready. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Love it! Mine is a little rough, but I just picked up an older 426D for $10 and the pump is rockin. Just had to oil the leather cup. I bought a Stansport propane converter (I know, sacriligious) for it as well and love its added versatility and not putting too much wear and tear on the tank. Hooked it up with a 5 lb propane tank and associated converter hose and I am thinking it will be my Go-to stove from now on. I imagine the Coleman Fuel will work better in cold weather. After the season I may get ambitious toss it one side at a time into an electrolosys tank and then restore repaint. If you or any other viewers have tips please let me know.

      My 421 tank goes to max pressure on 1/2 a pump. Is the pump clogged? It wont burn steady, mostly not at all.

    • @brianphaneuf6875
      @brianphaneuf6875 2 роки тому

      @@duderama6750 It could be a stuck check valve. Try removing the pump, and squirting some carb cleaner down the pump...it may take a while and plenty of sprays, but that might free the ball in the valve.

    I have one of these from my father who bought it in the '70s. I even have the stand. The last time I used it was in 2004 until this week. Now I find it's not holding pressure very well. It's getting hard to find replacement fuel caps. I recall my father lighting wood that was wet by rain by using the tank like it was a flame thrower. Not the safest way to use the stove but in an emergency I am sure it would help.

    • @totallyfrozen
      @totallyfrozen 2 роки тому

      Well, the fuel cap is steel so you may not need a new cap. You may just need to replace the rubber gasket inside it.

    My coleman 2 burner doesn't turn off completely. The flame lingers in the burner for a long time. Is this a leak? Thanks and I love easy to follow video.

    • @theed365
      @theed365 Рік тому

      Not a leak. It's running residual fuel out of the generator. You can switch the lighting valve back to the light position for a few seconds before shutting the main burner down and that should lessen the effect and keep you generators internals clean longer. You probably already knew this by now. Answering just incase someone else has the same question.

    Burner elements & seals fuel caps and seals for those I'd like to get me a nice little stockpile of parts so I don't have to constantly hunt down stuff I can get it all at once
