I was born and raised in Kuwait. I started my aviation journey in Kuwait back in 1988 when my mother called the airport and told them of my interest in aviation. I was invited and met by the airport official and given a tour and ended up having a pile of aviation books that I'm still in possession. I have travelled with Kuwait Airways a couple of time and loved their service. I was one of the lucky ones to travel on that hijacked aircraft (AlJabria). It was emotional and surreal.
As a Kuwaiti citizen I am glad to see someone who I respect and admire like Sam visit our country. Wish you had the time to visit the new T2 building under construction. Maybe next time Sam.
Thank you, I will keep an eye on the T2 construction and opening. I believe no date has been set yet. I think Kuwaiti people deserve better travel experience.
I am born and brought up in Kuwait and am a Canadian citizen. I still fly Kuwait Airways and in 2 months, I will be back again in Kuwait after 2 years. Thank you for sharing this history of the country I still call home.
I lived in Kuwait 2008-2011 and in those days flew with Kuwait Airways maybe a dozen times in both business and economy on routes Kuwait to London, Rome, Doha, Dubai. The aircraft were older Boeings and Airbus. Kuwaitis endlessly criticized Kuwait Airways for the aged fleet and poor on time performance, but the flights I took were on time, crew were efficient and friendly, and the food and service was excellent. Yes the airline is dry, but I don't drink alcohol when I fly so it never mattered to me. I'm happy Kuwait Airways has now updated their fleet. In the early years of the emergence of Gulf countries Kuwait Airways was among the best airlines in the world. A new fleet will help them compete with Qatari, Emirates and Etihad.
I've travelled on KU, QR, EK, EY, AI, 9W, GF, BA, LH, DL & B6 and let me tell there is no airline that manages to nail the taste of food like Kuwait Airways. Yes, they may not have the best presentation and not a lot of options, but they just get food right. Same with the country as well, I think food in Kuwait generally tastes a lot better than what you get in a dish's native country. Btw the new T2 opens either this year or the next.
My dad and grand dad worked for this airlines since the beginning of it starting. Have been flowing Kuwait 🇰🇼 airways all my life! Some of my best memories in life are from my childhood going to Kuwait❤ I’m excited for what lies ahead for the future for this company!
Kuwait Airways seems to be determined to to be one of the best in the coming years, as could be judged from the quality of the crew, service and attitude. Congratulations and Best Wishes... ❤️
My interest in aviation actually began in Kuwait, when my father was a visiting lecturer at the university there in 1981. Then, we flew on a 747 (on the upper deck!), 9K-ADA. I've watched the growth and development of KAC over the past 40 years with much interest and I'm very glad to see that it's finally getting the investment it deserves, to see it come closer to the likes of other regional carriers. Good luck to them in the future; I hope things are finally coming together for them.
Kuwait Airways has a history of being ahead of its time in many ways. I’m glad to see it do so once again with a new, refreshing strategy. Throwing tons of money and buying hundreds of planes have already been done by our neighbours, I like that KU have a vision (at last) which is to innovate from that model and show how one can do more with less in the aviation industry
As an almost neighbor i wish kuwait airways all the best! If the food on the plane is gonna be as good as in kuwait, i would even fly just to eat hehe. Ive been to kuwait many times, since its only about an hr away, so a weekend foodie trip is totally doable from uae.
@@Lina_al_j yes!! Food in Kuwait is unparalleled and they seem to be tapping into that, I’m excited to see where they go with that for sure. hi sam, just a fact check, terminal 4 that you used in this video is a temp terminal until the main new terminal 2 which is south of T4 is completed and its gona be one of the most modern and biggest terminals in the world.
I am not from the gulf but what makes me so in love with Kuwait that alongside Saudi Arabia it is the most richest gulf country with history you can feel the vibe of old times and that what makes Kuwait a unique country.
I am a proud Kuwaiti of my national airways and here is why.. In 2019 me , my brother and my father traveled from Kuwait to New York for my father's heart treatment in the US.. Unfortunately 5 hours before landing my father had a cardiac arrest, it seems that his heart stopped for several minutes.. I mean I saw him die I even told him to say the Shahadah(Muslim's last prayers before death) as soon as the cardiac arrest happened the crew rushed for help also some passengers (Indian female doctor and a US male citizen) Some crew members pulled me away to calm me down from the panic , 2-3 minutes later a crew member told me that my father is alive Alhamdulillah.. We landed safely and my father was escorted by an ambulance straight from the plane to the hospital.. the treatment went through and Alhamdulillah he is fine now.. But I feel ashamed that I never had the chance to thank the crew members who I do not know their names nor their faces.. and the Indian female Doctor with the Us male passenger.. I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart and my thanks also goes through to the Kuwaiti airways management for recruiting and training such awesome crew.
It’s nice to have a dry airline. The crew seem very friendly and nice. Your meal looked wonderful. The economy meal looked okay. Hope you enjoyed your flight.
Thank you Sam for showcasing Kuwait Airways. I am a resident of Kuwait and flew in Kuwait Airways many times. One thing i wanted to tell you that they had improved a lot especially in time keeping and scheduling. I am pretty sure Kuwait airways soon will achieve the best airline under the strong leadership of Mr.Maen Razouqi.
That's so rare! I've seen so many A330neo these days, but they are always the 900. You see them often in South East Asia airports. This is actually my first time seeing any Airline operating the 800 version.
I flew on Kuwait Airways in 1999 from Geneva (Switzerland) to New Delhi. It was my first time in India. The airline had a weekly flight from Geneva. The service in economy was very good. The airport in Kuwait was small. I enjoyed my trip.
I applaud Kuwait for being a dry airline. It is incomprehensible in today's world to put cabin crew on the firing line of dealing with belligerent drunkards. It will improve the overall on board experience for all passengers. I wish Kuwait nothing but success going forward.
I also think this fine. No alcohol. The only time I ever got drunk on an aircraft was on Lufthansa and the cabin crew had made me shut my window blind because they were showing a movie and an open blind was against their regulations. But joining the cabin crew in their space and getting loaded was not! I didn't have to pay for the drinks. The only reason I was up there was it was the only window that didn't have blinds. Well except for the flight deck I suppose.Tiny little porthole window. Couldn't see anything, but I had a lot of free booze.

I lived in Dubai in the late 90's and returned home from Kuwait on this airline. Our plane was on a remote bay and they had no bus transport available. So they took us to the aircraft on a caravan of camels. On board, there was one squat-style toilet at the back of the aircraft behind a wooden door, and a long queue to use it. The last person in line couldn't wait. He opened a window, hoisted up his dishdasha, poked his bottom outside and dropped a number two at 35,000 feet. Fond memories of the Middle East.

Outstanding to see how Kuwait has bounced back after the war with their neighbor Iraq in the 1980's. They need to have more international airlines coming into the country and have luxury hotels. I found it so bizarre that they do not serve alcohol specially if they want to attract the business clientele from Europe, US, Australia, and even Asia like Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore. The new fleet of planes is nice to see and the color and the genuine service. Thanks again.

i think kuwait airways is a very underrated middle east airline among emirates, qatar airways, etihad, etc.

Kuwait airways is the best ever 💙💙💙🇰🇼🇰🇼🇰🇼🇰🇼🇰🇼🇰🇼
Excellent video Sam, thank you so much. For me, this is one of your better videos, more educational than most. You can only film so many meals, seats & cabins. I enjoyed the behind-the-scenes running of the airline as well as the visual archives, photographs & models of their history going back to 1954.
Love Kuwaitairways ❤
I’m Kuwaiti and I see the improvement from 2014❤ and love from Kuwait 🇰🇼
