I seen X at The Whiskey when they first came to the LA Scene about 1978 Xine tripped and spilled her drink on me I was front stage. She ordered me a drink but I was proofed and they didn't give me a drink lol...te gave me a coke I was like fifteen at the time . I still have my ticket.
RIP Ray Manzarek.... He woke up Jim Morrison when he produced this piece of f#%king brilliance. Keep rockin the free land....errrrr....they say its free, X! The last great rock n roll band remaining.
I saw X perform Los Angeles live in it's entirety 12 years ago in Chicago at Riot Fest. I also just saw them last month in Berwyn. They still got it 47 years later!
I'm gonna see X later today (Stern Grove Festival, San Francisco, 25 July 2021) Opening will be our hometown heroes, The Avengers...should be quite the afternoon. 🥳
Wow one if the best bands ever,so many memories, I first heard them when I was in j&r music world & I'm still hooked, brought the CD on the spot thank you"""X"""
In 1980, my middle school had a magazine drive. The top subscription wins an album of their choice and our homeroom teacher will buy them that LP. I won and picked Los Angeles. It took three months for Ms. Vracin to find the record.
Great story...I hope you told them because they are the NICEST&SWEETEST people I have ever met and been starstruck by!..... I am so happy to have learned to play bass through these songs as a 13 year old and ..I just absolutely LOVE X. (I'm seeing your comments all over the place today!)
I can’t remember more of these shows than I can, but I remember a lot of them and they were all at least this good and better. One of the best live acts even when they weren’t. Fun like you didn’t know you could even enjoy fun
The fact that this show “appears” to be not SOLD OUT makes me sad. They should be playing to nothing but SOLD OUT crowds. The world is unfair & kids have no idea what they’re missing.
Unfair, yes - in a way. But I've been following them since their days at Masque, and to be honest it's always seemed like part of their clear eyed calculations. Did any of us want to see a giant like Billy have to resort to posting a GoFundMe to stay alive not so many years ago? It's disgraceful - and heartbreaking. But look at the arch of their work - its subject matter. It's what they've ALWAYS understood about the country the live in. And their livelihood in that scheme of things. I wouldn't wish the continued rigors of the road on ANY of them as they knock on 70's door. Still, they've NEVER done it on anybody else's terms. Not in 47 years worth of opportunities. Who can you even say that about anymore?
That's the whole point with Billy Zoom's approach. He's talked about it in interviews. What he's playing is not that difficult (for him), so why whip your head around and screw up your face like you're in agony? No, Billy would just stand there, legs planted wide apart and just grin and wink at the girls while playing those insane rockabilly riffs. Nowadays, after a bout with The Big C, Billy doesn't stand anymore, but he still grins and winks. Love that guy!!
For the 5 folks who gave this a thumbs down.... You keep watching MTV, listening to Billboard, eating at McDonalds and BofA rule your finances. Get the picture?
Gawd, I don't know which album I luv more this or Under ...Sun. So American. Few have made such complete great American rock. Punk never sounded as rough. Yet it's polite compared to P.I.L. out of key microtone atonality .Some American bands went into pure sound didn't work as successfully. Each great song follows each here. Exene is the goddess.John has had an impressive acting career. nausea !!! Johnny hit&run Paulene.Gawd I Adore this great writing. I know he is a real composer where is the music he's written since. OingoBoingo lead singer learned orchestration!
I see Exene around Orange shes nice but i think i might annoy her .......not sure....shes great...i annoyed my dear mom much worse...exene gets off easy...i was a terror in 1978... i wuz 5
How sad, Zoom a ghost of what he was, his poise, dominance, bravado, all disappeared. Others all alert, connected. Bummer because he, to me, was usually the most engaging of their act, with his metallic cloak, his poise, effortless effort and his knowing smile, fuck the poser guitar rock gods. Darn. Still fun
it kinda looks the damn basement club in Cambridge, MA. I don’t remember them playing Cambridge once in the ‘aughts, though!?!! Anyone else guessing 🤷♂️
Never wrote catchy pop hooks like BLONDIE. More art-rock with a punk esthetic. In my hardcore days X was an afterthought. We liked the second generation violent suburban Punk ala BLACK FLAG, not the boring hippie punk made by real musicians.
What would the youngsters in X think if they could be transported to the future to see the old X. They would probably think, "Why are they still playing those old songs?" Why not play new stuff that comes from the heart, and comes from where they are now? I would rather hear X play John Doe's brand new stuff. But yeah, they sound damn good. And yeah, I'll see them when they come to my town.
Nicola: I want to hear a combination of old and new. Metallica is currently on tour, and they are playing probably six songs off of their brand new double album, with the rest of the set featuring material from throughout their career. X is playing all oldies. I want to hear what these 60-somethings can come up with that is fresh. What are their thoughts and opinions in 2018? Has the creative well run dry for X? Put out an album. They don't even need a "label" like the old days. They can record it on the cheap and put it out digitally.
@@elmoblatch9787 X don't record new stuff because they know they're not in the same place and any 'new tunes' wouldn't be "authentic" punk. They're all 40 years older, they're not "desperate" anymore, and they're self-aware that it just wouldn't be the same. I respect them for that.
@@rgg2727 He's dragging a bit. no biggie. If you're a drummer you can hear it. He does his 16 notes one-handed and that is the way he has always been. gets harder as you get older. Still great to see them.
Edder Moran LoL.... It's the new hippy. Or just a bunch of baby boomers ashamed of their male pattern baldness. Or maybe its a regression thing where they want to be like babies fresh out of the womb. You're guess is as good as mine.
This sure takes me back to 78! Saw X 7 times back in the day. They got better and better and never got the recognition they deserve.
Yea!!! 🤟😆 Agreed .!
Billy, still cool as shit. A legend.
ALWAYS
BEST PUNK BAND OF ALL TIME !
definetaly one of them!
agree
Look at all the skinheads !

4 members start and 4 members .keep playing.... they are very experienced and very good. thanx

UNREAL! And their new album, "Alphabetland" is AMAZING, also.
X always brings it. Love this band, see them every chance I get.👀

Best band to come out of Los Angeles!

Great job, Teacher!
X - classic and timeless! 💀🎱👍👍

I love X ... timeless music!
The Webster Theater, August 29th, 2014. Band played as part of the TNT Fest lineup.
X IS 💯 🌎
Almost asuredly the greatest L.A. rock band. Some might say the Doors. But the greatest name of any rock band anywhere is "X"
I am waiting on this album to be delivered any time today. I can’t wait!!!!
The fact that this show “appears” to be not SOLD OUT makes me sad. They should be playing to nothing but SOLD OUT crowds. The world is unfair & kids have no idea what they’re missing.

I've never seen a rockin' guitarist move so little in my life!

Cannot wait to see you soon 💓
oh it makes me old bones throb even that old bone especially that olde bone
Thanks for the concert experience. Exene's volume a bit low for some of the show but still the fun gets through.
TEMAZOOO!!!!!
Brilliant.
Looks like club congress in Tucson
I worked sound at a club for a spell. It's comforting to know that the more famous venues have trouble, too.
National treasure
i WAS THERE ORIGINALLY = the whiskey - 1980'S-
They are supposed to do this for the last time in April. Hope they can still do the show.
omfg
Was this Tempe,AZ. I’m a little fuzzy but it looks like what I remember.
Where can I find the second video of this show with the songs they did for an encore?
For the 5 folks who gave this a thumbs down.... You keep watching MTV, listening to Billboard, eating at McDonalds and BofA rule your finances. Get the picture?
Damn, cuts off rather abruptly really making us want the second half which does not seem to exist
Quite cruel not to give us the rest, isn't it... but I still wnt to thank the person who posted this.... thank you for this part at least!

Billy has an amp repair shop off main street in orange. Sign days hippies use back door, no exceptions lol😅😅

but yeah, that makes me sad.
Yea sad but cancer will knock it out ya bud.
I miss joey Teshima.
Doesn’t say where this show is from??

Soundman kind of sucks. John Doe's mic is clipping and they don't seem to hear it.
Hey! The "X" is missing from the XLAX building! WTF?
ha SAW THIS
AT BLACK ON L.B.AND B.A ,FUCK ,T UP ED 70,S DAMS FN
The girl at the beginning sounds like a boring person.
I can't quite make out what she says. She says "I feel like they got lucky" and I can't make out the rest.
I wish they'd just shut up
Perhaps you should stick to watching MTV
What club is this?
Where is this from ?
Why is the sound guy , roadie dude standing on stage ? Is he the 5th Beatle of X ????
That guy is the band's Manager.
a lo que vinieron 18:47

The best part is when the music starts and i cant hear those idiots talking anymore.

I think they would play their old songs. At least they did when i saw them last Tuesday at their 40th anniversary show!! Good music is always good.

Well, they're coming out with a new album in May. You won't be able to see them live for a while, but there's always hope, right?
Oops wrong place i was looking for xxxtentacion
DJ seems to be struggling a bit but shit man...those 16 and 32nds just get harder
Say what? DJ is a top professional drummer. How is he struggling? I don't get it.
