The diamond pattern of your espalier and your walk are really starting to speak to one another, Janey! I love the idea of your black, white and silver color theme. Since you love daffodils, you could keep the scheme going in the spring with pure white daffodil Thalia and a near black tulip like Queen of the Night. Great video today!
I leave my Daffodil foliage, but I fold them down and take two leaves from opposite sides wrap them around the folded bundle and tie a knot (hope that makes sense). They are less visible that way and seem to disappear with newly planted stuff and perennials. My Daffodils thrive, I have done this for years.
My mother-in-law taught me the same thing. Grab a small amount in each hand and tie a knot. They lay right down. I, too, have great luck doing this. I remove them after they have turned yellow or brown on the ground. That way Janie, you will be able to see your Black Mondo grass better. Good luck.
@@SusanMiddleton1 I can assure you I have hundred off daffodils full of blooms that multiply and require dividing for 30 plus years. The foliage still collects all the sunlight and nutrients they need to recharge the bulbs for a spectacular show year after year 😊
Your zig zag garden has replaced your swoop from your last house. It's your "highlight feature". Love your channel and love your enthusiasm, it brightens up my day! I hope I can get into my garden today, too. SE Pennsylvania. Spring has finally sprung here!
Make sure the emitter to that star Jasmine isn’t blocked. If it wasn’t Monty maybe it wasn’t getting water 🤷🏼♀️ Zig zag looks amazing! Glad you didn’t trash it 😂😂😊
Looks like a gorgeous day and the espalier is looking so good! Love the new plant choices below. Will they be perennials for your area? Ya know, when you first moved in I felt bad for you and the situation with the zig zag bed. It seemed like a weird eyesore. BUT…now I feel like it’s absolutely part of the garden design!! With the angles of the zig zag, the angles of the espalier, and the angles of the patio…it just ALL works so well!! Smart choice to work with what you had and turn the entire space in something amazing! You must be so pleased.
I saw the ZZ Planter as an interesting, architectural piece of art!😅 I was hoping she'd keep it, because I knew Janey would figure something out .. and she did!
Your daffodils are beautiful! I love the blend in the zigzag planter. Every time I see your orchard with the curved pathway I think it is so pretty. What a difference you have made in your new home in such a short time. I love your videos.❤
That is going to look amazing! I love doing black and white flower combinations too. On a side note, that was a wonderful birthday gift to Robbie this morning! ❤
Aren’t the orange tree blossoms delightful?! It’s the first thing I smell when I go outside. Cant wait for the star jasmine to bloom! True smells of spring!
Love the Jasmine, morning glory and black Mondo grass combo !! I'm lying here after foot surgery so thankful for all my gardening sites !!! Thanks Janey !
The espalier looks soooo good! I love that black mondo grass with that white and silver! Such an elegant color combo, just wait when the Jasmine blooms 😍
Eek! Morning glory is so invasive in my zone and strangles other plants, like my hydrangeas. It’s actually considered a weed here in the PNW. I read up on the Bush Morning Glory and they aren’t invasive so I’m excited to see how yours does.
Janey that Mondo grass is pretty much at it's full height already and it grows really slooooow. Also needs more moisture than the Convolvulus . You might want to move some of them that are close to the wall into your secret shade garden area , right along the front where they won't get lost. They do well in shade .
Jamie, those daffodils are just breathtaking. I have been thinking about the privacy border that will be put up is it behind the zigzag planner you will miss that beautiful view out your door. I wonder if you could put it up on the other side and make it a shade garden in this exact planter so you could still have all that beauty when you look at out your windows, and still privacy from the street, just a thought you’ve expressed how much you really enjoy seeing that view
Monty is innocent I say! I think that star jasmine was just a dud. I cannot believe how big Monty is now! Such a cutie-pie! Janey, I love your hat! That color combo is very becoming on you. I love that striped shirt too. Linen? Perfect for the upcoming hot weather. Everything is really starting to come together. You have been inspiring me to work in my garden and bring in a lot more flowers. I actually found a nearby nursery that has Proven Winners, and I was sooo excited to be able to purchase ther Supertunia "Latte," and "Hoopla Vivid Orchid!" I also picked up a Superbena "Sparkling Amethyst!" I hope it really fills out and looks as good as the one you had at your previous house. 💐
The white convolulus and black mondo grass combo is so elegant...I also combine black mondo with anything chartreuse, too. I think that jasmine might have had a root rot... I think Monty's a very smart pup already seeking his shady siesta spot because when the summer heat comes....whooo!!! Kiddie/puppy pool time!
I’m not a fan of white in the garden, but I think that may be due to being surrounded by white for at least 5 month of the year! 😜❄️. But I can sure see it’s beneficial in warmer zones as it’s “ cooling” in the garden. That new jasmine looks like it’s always been there! 🇨🇦👏 zone 3
I love black mondo grass but be careful mine always fries in the full sun here in Southern California so you may have a similar issue. But fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼
This has nothing to do with your video but I drove down from Thurston Co. in WA to Bauman’s farm for the Gardenpalooza. I just went for one day & drove back home. It was amazing and I had so much fun. I invited a friend to come with me. I’m so glad you featured it for us. I wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. 😁❤️
Janey, be careful with the mondo grass! I planted some a few years ago and now it's choking my irises. In my area that grass is very aggressive ! It took over part of my garden.Im still digging it out! From Georgia with love ❤️
Janey, it's possible that one star jasmine was planted a tad too deep at the onset. Less likely "a bad spot" in my experience. All the rain you had may have finished it off. New one will thrive I'm sure. 😊
Oh Janey the Bush morning glory and the grass looks beautiful can't wait til it fills in. I braid my daffodils and tuck them under the mulch. Great video ❤
Love being in your garden with you and love the new black and white plants with the espalier! Everything is coming together and you work so hard. I trimmed my daffodils this morning also. Janey...I might not love the silver falls dichondra, :( Could you do something else trailing that might be more attractive? They remind me of stringy, thin gray hair. I'm sorry for saying this but give it a thought. Otherwise, you have an A plus on everything. Also loved the school video. So much good for those kiddos!
I just bought a star jasmine stalk at green acres and found a black widow spider in it 😱 Needless to say, I’m a bit apprehensive to get another one of these stalked plants. Btw, I did find BT at green acres - thanks so much for your help!
I love, love, love black mondo grass! It's spreads slowly but is a fabulous statement plant. What a good idea to plant black mondo grass in the jasmine bed.
The diamond pattern on the ground, and the espalier, and now the black and white really make me feel like you have a fun Alice in Wonderland space. You are so inspiring, thank you!
If the new jasmine dies, you could easily wind the surrounding plants further around the wires where the dead plant did not grow. They are growing fast, won't take long for them to fill in.
To get rid of the long stem leaves of the daffodils I first remove the flower stems then I remove 2 long leaf stems then bend the remaining leaf stems close to the ground and use the two leaves I removed to tie the daffodil in place. It works great because the leaves still get the nutrients they need but are a lot less visible.
I like the idea of framing around the circle. While you were planting the black mondo with your ryobi bulb planter I remembered the first video I watched from you around a year ago when you were planting the outside of your fence at the old house. I sent a screenshot to my husband and told him I needed power tools for my garden! Love following your journey!
Janey, it looks beautiful!!! For Christmas my daughter got me some seeds from Botanical interest. One of them is a native grass called Blue Grama grass. You might want to try it for the four corners. 🙂
Hi Janey🌺 . The star Jasmine it will grow well for you and I love how you plant the black grass near the white flowers they are going to be amazing . These dafoodils are so pretty in the zig zag . I have many kind of daffodils and this year I planted daffodils of Tahiti , they smell like gardenia and they look so pretty . Janey you must plant Murraya tree and jasmine sambac and Stephanotis jasmine they smell amazing. Have agreat day .🌺🌻🌺
Well I’m looking at a high of 84 today in Austin . I’m sure you have, but did you check that particular water emitter? Otherwise i think your gardening is looking great. Have a great weekend
It looks beautiful and a great plan. You might have already figured out what you are doing, but how about a nice evergreen in front of the water works? Seems like you like those blue junipers.
Can I just say….I’m loving the zig zag planter. I’m excited to see the grass to fill in. I love the black and white combo in front of the espalier. Maybe do that around the four corners of the circle.
Great job Janey! The espalier looks amazing! Monty is definitely going to need a pool. The shade garden is going to be such a great spot to relax and read a good book!!
Hi Janey Will the grass grow to high and cover up the Jasmine?, your property is looking gorgeous 😍. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful rest of the day. 🌼 🙂 👋 🌸 🌱 🌱
I'd like to mention that Mondo grass can spread fairly fast! I have some and keep in in planters (z6), after seeing what it did in my daughter's Atlanta driveway border. I tried to thin and remove some and couldn't even get a shovel into it, I suppose if you keep an eye out, it may behave in your area?
Our black mondo grass here in MN gets about 5' tall and 4' wide. It would block your wall. What variety is it. Love that grass but we don't have short ones here. Thanks
I watch several UA-cam gardeners but you are my favorite❤️. I like the morning glory and mondo grass next to the star jasmine, but would you consider moving those daffodils somewhere else? They seem to fight with the “regal” feel of the jasmine/morning glory/mondo grass combo. If you leave them, I’m sure they will be beautiful anyway😊.

I love this idea! I’m going to try it. 😊
@@arianbhagat5349Don’t do that! Tying the leaves prevents the nutrition going back to the bulbs.
My mother-in-law taught me the same thing. Grab a small amount in each hand and tie a knot. They lay right down. I, too, have great luck doing this. I remove them after they have turned yellow or brown on the ground. That way Janie, you will be able to see your Black Mondo grass better. Good luck.

That's what I was thinking when she posted the issue in the other video. I didn't hear he mention checking the emitter.
I never even thought of that, but it makes perfect sense. Because it was brown. It looks like it was not getting any water. Great comment!
Looks like a gorgeous day and the espalier is looking so good! Love the new plant choices below. Will they be perennials for your area?

The jasmine bed will be very elegant! Great choices there.

A real transformation!!!
The black and white plants are going to be beautiful. Like a tuxedo garden. I can't wait to see them fill out.
That is going to look amazing! I love doing black and white flower combinations too. On a side note, that was a wonderful birthday gift to Robbie this morning! ❤
How cute is monte how he watches you plant your flowers. Too cute 😍
Never have I ever seen these kind of daffodils. Unreal blooms!
I love your channel, your intro melody makes me so happy! I feel like were gardening friends!
Please film a bit of when you do your irrigation. I’m still learning and it would be tremendously helpful 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Janie, have you ever been to Lemuria Nursery in Dixon? If not, I think you might enjoy it. 😊
Happy gardening!
One comment was Tuxedo Garden I think that’s a great description !🖤🤍🖤
Aren’t the orange tree blossoms delightful?! It’s the first thing I smell when I go outside. Cant wait for the star jasmine to bloom! True smells of spring!
Love all your videos but I enjoy the ones where you’re working in your garden the most! It’s going to be soooooo pretty! ❤
Love the idea of a black and white garden bed. Sounds cooool. I love contrasting plants. You always give me inspiration!
Love the Jasmine, morning glory and black Mondo grass combo !! I'm lying here after foot surgery so thankful for all my gardening sites !!! Thanks Janey !
13:05 perhaps Lavender would look nice around the circle?
Good choice...the fragrance as you brush by...
The espalier looks soooo good! I love that black mondo grass with that white and silver! Such an elegant color combo, just wait when the Jasmine blooms 😍

Looking good! How about rosemary in all four corners? It would be nice to touch as you walk by in any direction for some gardening time aromatherapy…
There’s always a naughty Jasmine 🤗 looks lovely Janey 🪴🌷🪴

Janey not Jamie ugh auto correct 😂😂😂
You have done an amazing amount of work in a short amount of time. Marvelous design and execution.❤❤❤❤🎉😅
Could be a "hot spot" for your jasmine. Could be the sun is intense in that spot. Everything is blooming beautiful! 😊
Wasn't sure about your black & white but I love it!

I watch from Charleston, SC. Use to live in Rocklin, CA. Love your videos and your channel (I like how you dig holes with that drill!!!)
You would never know you had to replace one ,looks fantastic!!!

Can you spray paint the gray box on the wall to the right of your espalier?

I love, love, love black mondo grass! It's spreads slowly but is a fabulous statement plant. What a good idea to plant black mondo grass in the jasmine bed.
It also has very small, pale pink flowers! I'm always dividing my plants.
The diamond pattern on the ground, and the espalier, and now the black and white really make me feel like you have a fun Alice in Wonderland space. You are so inspiring, thank you!
Wow! What a good point!!! A "Through the Looking Glass" garden scene!
If the new jasmine dies, you could easily wind the surrounding plants further around the wires where the dead plant did not grow. They are growing fast, won't take long for them to fill in.
Morning glory where I live is invasive. 27 years here, and it has wiry runners that still come under the fence on both side neighbors.
Yes it can be, but it truly depends on the variety that you have. Some are not while others are. So always check the variety . Hers is a mounding type
Janey said that hers is Bush Morning Glory. I didn't know there was such a thing!
To get rid of the long stem leaves of the daffodils I first remove the flower stems then I remove 2 long leaf stems then bend the remaining leaf stems close to the ground and use the two leaves I removed to tie the daffodil in place. It looks soooo good, 😊
it looks great. love the plant combo
Beautiful!!!
Oh my! I Love the combo, It’s going to be a Beautiful “Cottagie Glam” Vision. Can’t wait to see it in it’s full Glory LOVE LOVE LOVE!🌸
I think your new garden will look quite sophisticated!
The espalier looks beautiful now. That was the right move to get rid of that plant.
I think it will look very mid century modern like your house. Great idea!
I like the idea of framing around the circle. It’s going to look so elegant! It’s reassuring to know that you have plants mysteriously die, too.
I have black trim color around my house too so I put black bark in my flower beds..I love it so much more than just brown. Happy gardening.
You answered a question for me today.. Do people who talk with their hands do so when no one is looking? Yes they do😆😆🌷🌻💚
Janey, it looks beautiful!!! For Christmas my daughter got me some seeds from Botanical interest. One of them is a native grass called Blue Grama grass. You might want to try it for the four corners. 🙂
Looks very good
Beautiful ❤️
Love black and white 😊!

Hi janey, would you be willing to share the dimensions of the squares/diamonds on the espalier please🙏🏽 it’s beautiful!
Well I’m looking at a high of 84 today in Austin . I’m sure you have, but did you check that particular water emitter? Otherwise i think your gardening is looking great. Have a great weekend
Guess where I’m going today! That’s right Bauman’s Garden Palooza Days. So excited!!
It looks beautiful and a great plan. You might have already figured out what you are doing, but how about a nice evergreen in front of the water works? Seems like you like those blue junipers.
I'm sooo curious how your brined olives turned out
Daffodils are my favorite flower and they all smell so divine!!
Looks great! Your beautiful garden is really coming together...and so fun to watch!
It’s going to look amazing!
I love the yellow/ white colors with the white/ black house colors. You are making things look gorgeous, Janey! ❤
Love the concept of the new bed!! It's amazing how far your garden has come in just a few short months!!!
What brand are your garden boots? They look so comfortable!
I love this space
Can I just say….I’m loving the zig zag planter. I’m excited to see the grass to fill in. I love the black and white combo in front of the espalier. Maybe do that around the four corners of the circle.
Just beautiful.
Great job Janey! The espalier looks amazing! Monty is definitely going to need a pool. The shade garden is going to be such a great spot to relax and read a good book!!
Looks great Janey!
garden looks beautiful. thanks for sharing.
Much better having that replaced star Jasmine , I love the mondo in there with the Morning Glory’s and the wood chips, very eye vatching
Hi Janey
Will the grass grow to high and cover up the Jasmine?, your property is looking gorgeous 😍.
Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful rest of the day.
🌼 🙂 👋 🌸
🌱 🌱
Black mondo grass is not tall...takes morning sun and/or shade.
❤❤❤Happy to see your video as I can’t sleep shin pain from stress fracture❤❤❤ your the best distraction as I am obsessed with plants & gardens!
Coral sedum, the yellow one looks great with black mondo grass A border later when the morning glories fill out?
I'd like to mention that Mondo grass can spread fairly fast! I have some and keep in in planters (z6), after seeing what it did in my daughter's Atlanta driveway border. I tried to thin and remove some and couldn't even get a shovel into it, I suppose if you keep an eye out, it may behave in your area?
I’m was wondering if maybe you have a mole or vole that chewed on the roots. I have them here in Anderson and they ruin so much
I’m planting some morning glory, heavenly blue, but have wondered about it becoming invasive or self seeding.
A nice contrast with the black mondo grass!
The espalier looks good. What is the powder you put in the hole when planting new stuff? Is it a fertilizer?
Our black mondo grass here in MN gets about 5' tall and 4' wide. It would block your wall. What variety is it. Love that grass but we don't have short ones here. Thanks
Hi Janie, I am looking for a drill and auger to use in my gardens. Can you tell me what drill model you are using and auger size? Thanks!
Very good..

Wow i want a zig zag planter 😊
