As I’ve seen in a lot of comments, these flowers remind me of my childhood. This is so helpful because I’m so tied to these flowers and I want to have some growing on the patio of my new apartment. I adore star jasmines and I learned a lot about them just from this video. Thank you :)

I live in Charleston, SC and we have tremendous Japanese beetle pressure here, but they have no interest whatsoever in eating my start jasmine. 😊 I think the leaves of SJ are too hard for them to chew. They mostly eat roses, crape Myrtle, Cana Lillie’s, morning glory etc. Just sharing my experience. Nice video ❤

The japanese beetles don't care about my star jasmine, either, maybe because I have plenty of other things they enjoy more ☹️.

I was just browsing around Calloway’s Nursery and the smell of Star Jasmine got me hooked. I got one and later I got 3 more lol. Then I watched some UA-cam videos on Star Jasmine and found your channel and now I’m a subscriber.

They are just so beautiful, they'd be happy here over summer, wish I had an area for one. That espalier photo would be beautiful on your black fence.

Great video, Janey. As usual you have done your research and the information you provide is really good. Here in Centra CA I have 3 star jasmines in various places in my yard, all with part sun. Doing really well. I like them a lot. They always look good and thrive in my area.

I'm so looking forward to my star jasmine taking off like yours. If you'd like a vining plant that flowers in winter, look at hardenbergia. It's an Australian native but I know it grows in California because of videos from there. I have white and purple growing up a column. Only planted a couple of months ago. The 2 colours together will be similar to star jasmine with clematis. If you don't have room, maybe your mum would like something like that. Thanks for all the content xxx

I love this plant. I had this on a fence at my first house. I live in Eastern Texas and it is very humid. It was in full shade at one end and part shade at the other end and it did grow in both. The full shade end did not bloom well. It does make good year round screen. Have a wonderful day.

It would be great if you also mention if it needs amended soil vs being ok with bad soil type! Because if I put it in the ground I only have clay soil in 9b :(

I loved the look of the star Jasmine going over the mailbox, so cute! I would love to do that. Great info! I never would have thought of using it as a ground cover and considering it would be an annual in my zone I wouldn’t have to keep up on it as much.

Hi Janey! I'm putting mine where I want it as you said and just hoping it will grow because it gets way too much afternoon sun. Plus, it's on a stone wall, so the heat adds to it. But, I'm going to let it go for a season and see how it does because if it survives it will look gorgeous on these stone walls of my home.

Nice video. I have a question; how "high" will Star Jasmine grow? I mean, I want this to be climbing up a CMU wall, but then I need a foliage height of 18" above the wall. Will it grow upward 18" once on top of a wall?

HELLO from Florida Zone 10a-b. Off topic Janey, but I noticed in a previous video, you use your Miracle Gro Garden Feeder for other fertilizers. I need to do this, as fertilizing has become the bane of my existence. Can you explain how you know how much to put into the dispenser when using other fertilizers? Appreciate your knowledge and beautiful spirit!

    • @DigPlantWaterRepeat

Hi! Yes, I had one of those miracle grow garden feeders on hand, didn't want to spend money on a new one and have just been filling up the container all the way with my PW fertilizer. I'm not sure if it is exact recommended dilution rate but I've been doing it all summer and it seems to be working well! Hope that helps!

Hey do you know why my star jasmine would be getting some red leaves?
I live in zone 8b. I found a local restaurant with the same red and green foliage on their star jasmine.
It’s not ugly I’m just not sure what she’s trying to tell me.

    • @DigPlantWaterRepeat

Hi Lely! I had the EXACT same problem with my big star jasmine. I even took the leaves into my local garden center and they couldn't give me an answer. I decided that it must be a watering issue and I bumped up the water to that plant and the red leaves are gone and haven't come back! Hopefully that helps!

Remember how vigorous clematis can be.
Most grow to 30 metres, and loose their leaves after flowering.
I'm looking for an evergreen clematis that only grows up to 6 meters, with a fragrance.
There are a few out there.
Star Jasmine is great over wire fences.....
If you want a less invasive, dappled shade plant, with lovely fragrance, Stephanotis are beautiful as well as Philadelphus.
Philadelphus are an upright shrub with white fragrant flowers.
Stephanotis is a thick stemmed vine that is slow growing but the flowers are worth it.
I have mine in a pot growing up an obelisk.
    Hope this helps.
    Jo.
