    Mongolian families operate like corporations. They socialise together, they do business against other families together, they share resources together, and somewhere beyond the family corporation, they fit in some social friends. However, family is number one for Mongolians on the social radar. In the West, we operate socially from an individual connection with not much need for family.

    • @francoismarc3
      @francoismarc3  4 місяці тому +2

      I like this. I think all families should operate like this, and then have business ventures with other families when the interests of the two or more families align. Thanks for this comment:)

    Very glad you are having a blast of experience there in mongolia. The food is definitely something unique as you can already tell. Tsuivan is basically the mac n cheese and fried rice kinda food of this place. You can make it with any ingredients you have laying around on top of the usual meat + handmade thinly cut rolled dough noodles.
    Also, for the russian things in mongolia. Because of how mongolia used to be under the influence of USSR much like the other slavish countries, most of the old buildings are built with USSR standards and are still in use today.
    Today, most of Mongolia's imports are from Russia and China, the two neighbouring countries. Other products you can see from time to time are from Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, America and Europe, etc. Though it is a little expensive compared to the Russian/Chinese products.

    • @francoismarc3
      @francoismarc3  6 місяців тому +1

      Hey there and thank you for this wealth of knowledge! I'll be sure to keep this in mind when answering questions about the food and culture in Mongolia:)

    • @hoolidii
      @hoolidii 6 місяців тому +1

      Tsuivan is not actually made with noodle. Like we never call it noodle, its just flour thats been fried raw or steamed. And those other import products are more expensive because they shipped through air since we are land locked. Mostly the shipping costs expensive.

    • @sentientlvl.5mortar886
      @sentientlvl.5mortar886 6 місяців тому

      @@hoolidii Well, noodle is just a general term though, not saying that you should call tsuivan a noodle either. Noodle is not specifically the packaged instant ramen or something like that you are thinking of. Or maybe I should've highlighted it by saying "handmade/homemade noodle from rolled dough". Even then, the literal translation for the mongolian name would be just " thinly cut dough/flour". I hope I made my point clear with that. I'm intrigued to hear your point of view about this as well.
      Also, I would like you to search for words that can define this specific ingredient in tsuivan. Because 'noodle' is the only word I can find or think of atm.
      Definition of Noodle by Oxford:
      -a very thin, long strip of pasta or a similar flour paste, eaten with a sauce or in a soup.

    • @hoolidii
      @hoolidii 6 місяців тому +1

      @sentientlvl.5mortar886 Yeah, but in the mongolian language, noodles would be goimon. But tsuivan is not goimontoi huurga.
      I personally don't like to call noodles. It's just makes us sound more like East asian. Even though we don't even have traditional noodle dishes.
