My son first introduced me to bayside through shudder. Still my favorite cd (sorry, guys). He had an addiction problem and I used to sing this song to him every time it came on. Lost him almost seven years ago. He would have been 33 today. Listening at the cemetery. Still go see Bayside with my younger kids every time they come to town ❤😢
This story really hit home for me, im sorry for your loss, it cant be easy. I'm 32 and my dad died last year. When new rock comes out it makes me sad that i cant show him, for music was always our way of connecting. He liked bayside, the black keys, the strokes and other bands of my generation just as well as the classics, which i grew up listening to as well. Give the bands Bad Omens and Speed of Light a listen, if you find the time. I hope you are well and have found peace with your son's passing as I have with my father's.
It's Thursday December 30, 2021 I just turned 31 this week and listening to this song just takes me back to my middle school years! Where did the time go?!? 17 years later and I still love this song so much! Thank you for taking me back to some of the best times of my life! :)
Revisiting Bayside after some time. They were one of my favorites back in 2005-2006, but didn’t realize until recently how fking awesome Anthony’s voice is. I’ve been bingeing Bayside and Anthony’s solo stuff the last week
Man there arnt many words to describe just how much bayside means to me... I have the tat to prove it. You have been my favorite band since 2003 and my loyalty belongs to you guys. You Wil forever be my favorite band! I truly love you guys. You will always be my favorite. Time will only be kind to such a wonderful group of guys. The best band ever created is Bayside. You always got my loyalty
Damn, Masterpiece got me through a terrible breakup back in 2006. Haven't heard this song since those times. Showed up in "Up Next" and wow, what a flashback! Still a powerful song even a decade later.
Talk about feeling old. Loved them since 6th grade! Have my bird tatted on my thigh and I'm seeing them again this month for the 7th time! 😁 they never disappoint.
My fucking god, where did the time go? What happened to the 2000s?? Really my theme song back in the day, got me laid quite a bit, but fuck did I end up in some bad places the next day. Wow, the embarrassed moments at pubs, and making a fool of it all. Good times;-) ...had to grow up and start listening to The Beatles again to get the filth out of my spirit:*)
My friend, You're always the last one to leave Those dimly lit rooms. Making sure the last glass makes its way to the table empty. And every bottle in the place Has been upside down At least a few times what a waste. Is this what's left of you these days? You're not eighteen anymore. Five years should have been, Enough time for you to grow up and get over this. Not too cool to be throwing up all morning sick From what you might have done or done it with. And I swear if I could take your pain And frame it and hang it on my wall, Maybe you would never have to hurt it all. Painting pictures in red and blue. A portrait bruise just like you And now you're walking away. You're not eighteen anymore. Five years should have been, Enough time for you to grow up and get over this. Not too cool to be throwing up all morning sick from what you might of done. When is enough, finally enough? The hang-ups and the heartbreaks get you past. Our failures lay down but just accept yourself. Find some thing that brings you closer to complete. Painting pictures in red and blue. A portrait bruise just like you and now you're walking away. You're not eighteen anymore. Five years should have been, Enough time for you to grow up and get over this. Not too cool to be throwing up all morning sick From what you might of done or done it with. When is enough, finally enough? When is enough, finally enough?
Bayside has a distinct style and sound. Which may mean their songs may sound the same but that's not bad. I love bayside more for the lyrical content anyway and the aggressive tone musically fits. I know what to expect every time I buy a new bayside record and that's comforting. They don't try to reinvent the wheel on every record. I love these guys
Never realised this is the first song off their first album, fucking a what an intro. Their new EP that just dropped a couple days agi (18 years later) is just as sick!
This song reminds me so much of my ex girlfriend who slowly turned into an alcoholic. It really hits and resonates on a personal level. Obviously I loved her. Part of me still does.. but she's not that person i fell in love with anymore
Zero to Sixty Car Videos yes it was about a friend who was struggling with alcoholism. I’m not positive but I believe the friend later died. My husband used to open for bayside and remembers Anthony crying while performing this song once.
i mean, they're punk, but it's not like they're a hardcore punk band. They don't even sing about society, religion, government. They're punk, but not the kind of punk from back in the day.

Love you bro shudder is the best don’t feel sorry

29 here, I feel you! I mean they were some of the worst times of my life actually, but this band definitely helped!
same here. Go figure I ended up an alcoholic and didn’t really get what this song was about Way back when lmao. But I’m sober now 😎
35

Just now discovered these guys, feel like I've been missing out for the last 17 years!
Joshua Swanson yeah man, how the fuck havent you heard of them? I've been listening to them since like '04 lol
Enjoy your listen, they have a large and amazing body of work!
Revisiting Bayside after some time. They were one of my favorites back in 2005-2006, but didn’t realize until recently how fking awesome Anthony’s voice is. I’ve been bingeing Bayside and Anthony’s solo stuff the last week
This song brings back memories of being deployed in 06-07 Iraqi freedom. I found a Bayside CD and listened to this song almost every day.
This song is still excellent.
Awesome songs! This got me into playing the guitar!!!!! Heavy and melodic at its best!!!!!!!!!
This band had such amazing lyrics.
This song right here has gotten me through both of my parents death! I will always love Bayside!
Wow, me too! Hope you're doing ok.
They're watching over you from heaven. People and this world may fade, but God is forever. Music is proof of the spirit.
So .....did you kill em while listening to bayside
We all make mistakes in the heat of passion, Jimbo.
This song hits differently being in my 30s now. The theme, lyrics, and visuals speak to me moreso when I was 16 when I first listened to this song.
What a debut album by any band!
This song is the reason why I fell in love with Bayside! ♥️😊
Still think it's awesome!😍
Many did!
I think its because they promoted it with cds with that AP magazine

2023 still has me going back for the goods.
I love interpreting the bass lines of this song in my head.
god, I think I have been listening to Bayside for almost 10 years... and have seen them 2 times in concert. being in norcal they don't travel here.
Or Florida...smh
I'm 23 and this song is still so relevant to those jamokes I went to highschool with. Always a Bayside fan.
Shut up nerd
+Kaia King can you prove that I don't know him?

Such an underrated band truly
This song hits home. love you Bayside. ♥
Happy 10 year annivesary to your comment. This band is amazing!
God, I have to stop drinking.
I'll drink to that 💀
Same 😢
I miss these days. highschool was a bitch but with bands like bayside they were unforgettable.
Talk about feeling old. Loved them since 6th grade! Have my bird tatted on my thigh and I'm seeing them again this month for the 7th time! 😁 they never disappoint.
Oh, how I adore this band.
18when I heard them....now in my 30s ....still fuckin rock out to them when I work out....
Just accept yourself
And find something that brings you closer to complete
my life motto
This by far is the best Bayside song I have heard yet.
My fucking god, where did the time go? What happened to the 2000s?? Really my theme song back in the day, got me laid quite a bit, but fuck did I end up in some bad places the next day. The Beatles puts a whole different filth there.
Such a good song
these guys should be WAAY more popular...
one of my absolute favourite songs growing up!
I remember listening to this album in my discman xx
Raaaa!!! Who's here listening to this in 2020!
2023
Lived by this song through high school, still plays in my head to this day!

Damn this is a great song! I miss this stuff!
shit this song brings back good memories.
omg. no words describe how dope this band is.
was at the filming of this in Chicago.
Victory records ruled back in the day
the fact this isnt at 1mil+ likes right now is a crime against humanity
One of my favorite Bayside songs! #Masterpiece
The song always stuck in my mind..
I loveee this song
My friend,

A portrait bruise just like you

When is enough, finally enough?
The hang-ups and the heartbreaks get you past.

still my favorite song in the world. 2019 and stick great

RIP Beatz.
Corky 420 john beats isn't the drummer on this track.
Jim Mitchell I believe on Sirens and Condolences. Though obviously Beats played out the songs later.
They look like strong hands ❤️
Man this song is a classic
An amazing band!
Awesome!!!!
oh shit, i love this album SO much!
the good ol highschool days !
x3maxine lol, living them now
2020 🤘🏻🇵🇪 2021
Fucking sick !!
This is it...
Watching this while drinking a beer
Man I've been thinking about this song..
slyfoX is awesomeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Yeah I thought the same thing. Your Way With Words Is Through Silence, I love both bands so I find it pretty cool :)
To this day I love this song. Was that poop in the sink at 1:19?

WoW. Fucking JRYR. Goddamn was it really That long ago...fucking 8 years. I am oldddd...still, love this song! Good times. Good times. (,:
first song i learned on the drums !!
It's so fun.
Congrats boys!
I listen to this song when i go to school, drive, poop, pee, eat, walk, talk, sleep, and go see other bands.
This was my jam in my early 20s finally quit drinking a few years ago at age 33
i want that wall paper!
That's actually what it really was. They ripped a piece of wallpaper off an old house and made it their album cover. Fun fact.. lol.
ITS A MASTAPIECE
This song reminds me so much of my ex girlfriend who slowly turned into an alcoholic.
It really hits and resonates on a personal level.
Obviously I loved her. Part of me still does.. but she's not that person i fell in love with anymore
Classic fucking piece.
Even in 2004, jack o'shea wears an iconic sweat band on his right forearm
Why yall arguing about genre? It’s clear they got their own sound.
Such a HIGHLY UNDER CREDITED somg
everytime i heard this song singer voice remind me of Morrissey with melodic catchy punk jammed.
uhm, why doesn't this song have more views....
Where's Waldo?
I really want that Bayside wallpaper.
Whenever I hear this song I think of some of my friends
Does anyone know if they wrote this song about someone they knew? Just curious to if there is a story behind it...
Zero to Sixty Car Videos yes it was about a friend who was struggling with alcoholism. I’m not positive but I believe the friend later died. My husband used to open for bayside and remembers Anthony crying while performing this song once.
I actually agree with you :P
am i the only person who saw poo in the bathroom sink...?
Seriously...like it looks like a long turd and then looks like the guy later throws it LMFAO!
Saw it once I read it
ive never pooped that long
omg lmao! im weak!
i throw up all the mornings from what ive done and done it with.
@MikeDosMil Totally is!
2019?? HELL YEAH, COUNT ME IN.
2023
Bayside is hardcore/emo, not punk. If you disagree listen to their other music.
I'm pretty sure there is poop in the sink at 1:18
#baysideisacult
@kylebayside ** pop punk.
@MikeDosMil pretty sure its a wet brown paper towel..
I claim myself to be a zebra. So I am.
@stubberly You poked the bear.
Okay fair enough but you can't compare them to the ramones or the clash or the sex pistols. it's just a whole other world.
Unpopular opinion: Andrew Elderbaum is a far better lyrisict than raneri and the first album is their best
dude anthony says he considers themselves to be punk
They kinda are tho.. like a post-punk..
nut
Bayside is considered emo. gg
i mean, they're punk, but it's not like they're a hardcore punk band. They don't even sing about society, religion, government. They're punk, but not the kind of punk from back in the day.
