Hey everyone, here is a quick little project to make a boho style cover for your steering wheel just in time for the coming summer days. Even if you don't want to make the cover, this is an easy flower granny square that would work well for any project .Hope you enjoy the video. xx
Such an amazing and detailed tutorial! I’m so grateful for artists like you who have gone through trial and error with these processes so the rest of us don’t have to!
I’m am making my granddaughter this steering wheel cover. I love the pattern and it’s so easy especially how well you show us how to make a lovely project well. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. You're a very good teacher. I'm tired of hopping into my car and feeling the searing pain and hearing the sizzle of burning flesh. I'm going to yarn bomb my car. And if my husband thinks it's too girly, he doesn't have to drive it.🤣
Cute, I just suggested this as a Mother's Day project on another crochet channel (and my idea was shot down). Thank you for validating my idea. Your wheel cover is very feminine (but could be made otherwise also) and sweet. Yes, kinda a boho feel. Very nice. I shall be making one (or ten). Lol 👍💓 Gonna get this made up before heat of summer (Texas heat!).
I love this pattern. I have just bought a new car and cannot wait to decorate it with this steering wheel cover. Would you be able to do a tutorial for a matching headrest cover and seatbelt cover? I would love that!
I made it with scrap all pastels. It's georgeous.. I only fastened to wheel in 3 places. And if I want to grab under the material. I can do both because I just brush the fabric aside and grab the uncovered wheel. I put in top center of wheel. Then opposite at bottom and then another spot. I tacked it to wheel. It's wonderful
Very pretty! I made 9 but got confused at the end when you connected 4?? I couldn’t get the hang of connecting and crocheting at same time so I’m going to sew with clear thread. I love it and your a great teacher!
This is clever and really cute.❤❤❤ If you're worried about the cover slip-sliding around, maybe you could cut a narrow strip of the no-slip grip rubbery fabric like material that comes on a roll and tape it to your steering wheel with 2-sided tape. I don't know the name of it but I call it slipper-gripper. LOL! You can usually find it in rolls and people sometimes line kitchen drawers with it but I've found a multitude of purposes for it. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing this tutorial! ❤👍🙂
If you have a long enough tail(slack yarn) before you begin your first chain.., you can sew that inside of your first double crochet(second row) as well as every crochet till the tail is almost gone. Leave some of that bringing tail to pull through and tighten as you'd tighten a Magic Circle. Both are easy peasy
You can attach the elastic to inside of belt with needle and thread , yes great idea. Take your strip of elastic and wrap it around your wheel … make it stretch to reach around. Cut it and sew that to the inside of your belt. Or you can sew your crochet belt to an elastic car wheel cover that is already made.
I thought I lost the wheel covering. I didn't. When your done making it how do you get on the steering wheel if you stitched S an infinity round? I got the part of second it. Mine will take 8 squares.
I may need to re watch this but i thought the corner was half double joined together. But if i saw you correctly you did double crochet three chain two double crochet tmthree. Sorry i am lost and i love this so much.
It should be able to work . You’ll probably need less squares for this and secure with a tie in the corners (at the bottom of the steering wheel where it’s flat.) 🧶💕
My steering wheel is super thin all the way around. Could I eliminate the last circle of the flower to make this cover thinner, or would that make it look weird and unfinished?
Do you have to use the Join As You Go method to connecting the squares and finish the cover? I have full squares already made but wanted to try and connect them other ways
No not at all- you can join the ones you have 👏🏻💕 here are some joins I like if you aren’t sure which way you want to try : ua-cam.com/video/x-3Ijs9Wm58/v-deo.html
Attaching it to the wheel or attaching the squares together? If it’s the squares, I’ll just confuse you with writing about it because I don’t know where you are not understanding. This is a standard join as you go technique so i would recommend you watch some more videos on this. There are several on UA-cam 🤗
@ Laurel S. You make it smaller than circumference, stretch it to fit, and securely fasten it together. Hint: you can also use non-slip shelf liner, cut a thinner strip to place under wheel cover, then affix cover in place.
@@lolacigana290 hmm ok - it sounds like you need to go up a hook size or add an extra stitch in the corners. If you want to show me a picture of it , you can dm me over on Instagram (playhookywithme)

MAKE SURE WHEN YOU MAKE THIS TO ADD SUPPORTING TIES AROUND THE JUTS IN THE WHEEL!! IF YOU DONT ITLL SLIDE AND COULD BE DANGEROUS!!!

Hi ! Nice ! What’s the hook size ?
Great advice! Thank you ❤!
Brilliant and gorgeous ✨

Thanx Ma'am. Made granny belt. Wanted to learn how to join with elastic instead of stitching as to gift fully... 👍

I got it. Thank you. You are an awesome teacher.
Ok great 👍🏻 😀🌸❤️
Do you know if this fits a “d” shade steering wheel? Like the one with the flat side on the bottom of the steering wheel?
It should be able to work . You’ll probably need less squares for this and secure with a tie in the corners (at the bottom of the steering wheel where it’s flat.)
🧶💕
For me the white surrounding part would have been way to big so i stuck with only the leaves! Thank you ;)
Perfect, I'm glad you were able to make the pattern work for you! xx
You don't mention what yarn to use or hook size. I'd love to make one
You can find all those details in the description box below the video.
It was a weight 4 yarn with a 4 mm hook 👍🏻💕
What is the size of the yawn? I would buy the tool too. What is the size of it?
All the info is in the description box 💕
Ficou muito lindo
Great tutorial, do you happen to now how many ozs of yarn you used for the finished project?
It was 3oz /82 grams of yarn total. 9 granny squares. . Each ball of yarn holds about 5 oz so you’ll have plenty.
Love it😍
Thank you! :) xx
What yarn did you use? I would assume cotton would be best? I am adding this to my to do list.
It is actually a polyester blend - I have links below the video in the description box 🧶💕
Superb
My steering wheel is super thin all the way around. Could I eliminate the last circle of the flower to make this cover thinner, or would that make it look weird and unfinished?
It won’t look weird. Yes, omit that last round to make it thinner 👍🏻💕
So cute
thank you!
Hi, what yarn did you use ? Thanks
Yarn and Hook
Loops & Threads Creme cotton
weight 4
Pastel Pink, Fiery Flamingo, Cream, Light Blue, Ice Blue, Deep Celadon

awesome! how would you tie it to your wheel?
I show this in the video 💕
i dont really get how to attatch it properly, can you explain it please? im finding it hard
Attaching it to the wheel or attaching the squares together?

the wheel. also, at the end, when you’re joining the squares, the final square isnt attached to the scarf, and i dont get how to make it a circle
Super cute,, but how does it not slide on the wheel??
I explain that in the video as well as in the description box 👍🏻
@ Laurel S. You make it smaller than circumference, stretch it to fit, and securely fasten it together. Hint: you can also use non-slip shelf liner, cut a thinner strip to place under wheel cover, then affix cover in place.
@@creative2716 thx ,,I read the description after I posted this..good idea with shelf liner..
I just wanna know if these are safe to drive with cause i feel like it wouldnt be
Don’t make it if you feel it’s unsafe 💕
@@PlayHookywithMe it looks so cute but ive never met anyone who used a yarn cover. Does it slip? Or hinder your control over the wheel?
@@Rats6 It hasn't for me but I tie it to the wheel so that it doesn't shift or slip. I haven't had any issues with it so far.
@@PlayHookywithMe okay good to know!
What size hook are you using
4 mm
I can't get to hook size..not on computer 😫
I don’t understand. Yarn and hook details are in the description box below the video. 4mm hook - weight 4 yarn.
Is this specific for a steering wheel? Or can I use left over granny squares?
You can use whatever you like , your left over grannies should work great 👍🏻 💕
What size hook
4 mm
Information is n the description box below the video
What yarn did u use
Check the description box for yarn details / it’s been a few years I can’t remember
I failed miserably can I just order one?😭
Oh 🥹
I just end up with à round 😬
I don’t understand your problem 🤔
